Web development expert Jim Mason offers a step-by-step guide that shows you how to quickly build simple Java Web applications that access iSeries data and call RPG programs with a browser interface. >> CLICK here to view the complete tip... http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci846056,00.html ==================================================================== Answers to Other Technical Questions ==================================================================== 1. What do I need to run Websphere & Java Server Pages? This member's company asked her to look into setting up WebSphere on the iSeries 400 so it could run Java Server Pages and servlets. The company has a licensed program installed -- WebSphere Application Server. Unsure if there was anything else she needed on the iSeries in order to run the Server pages and servlets, she turned to the WebSphere/Web development forum for some advice. Web development expert Jim Mason was on hand to help her out. http://search400.discussions.techtarget.com/WebX?[EMAIL PROTECTED]^[email protected]/287 2. Seven steps to a Java Web database application It would be great if iSeries programmers knew how to use Java to create e-business applications, but programmers can still forge ahead if they aren't trained in Java yet. WebSphere tools make it easy, and Jim Mason and Dave Slater show you just how easy it can be to build a Java Web database application. http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci820383,00.html 3. Java -- more than just a language The debate continues over what is better RPG or Java. They both have their good points and their bad points, but Java has a distinct advantage, according to Web development expert Bob Cancilla. It isn't the fact that Java is portable, or new, that makes it a preferable choice for developing systems today. It is object-oriented without the technical challenges and baggage of C++ or other object-oriented languages. http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci797945,00.html 4. Web application advice needed One user writes, "I'm developing a Web application. The user asks for a specific data from 'Global DataBase'. As the data retrieval takes more time, the user should be able to get back to the same page so that the user can perform other operations until the required data is displayed. How can I accomplish this?" Web development expert Jim Mason offers some advice. http://search400.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid3_cid486351_tax285218,00.html _________________________________________________________________ ******************** SPONSORED BY: ProData ********************* FREE 30-Day Power Tool Rental!
