Today's Featured Tip
===============================================================

Enabling SSL for the IBM HTTP Server and WebSphere Payment Manager

WebSphere Commerce Suite not only protects Web pages during the
shopping experience, but it also secures Web traffic for
administration tasks such as accessing store services or the admin
console. Follow these steps to enable the Secure Socket Layer
(SSL) protocol for the IBM HTTP Server for iSeries.

Answers to Other Technical Questions
===============================================================

SSL FTP client session support
One user writes, "Is there third-party software that supports an
SSL FTP client session from an iSeries server? For example, we
need to transfer files between two iSeries' and would like to
secure the FTP transfer with SSL." Search400.com security expert
Carol Woodbury responds.

SSL Connection/time outs
"BillBruce" is using Client Access with a digital certificate, and
connecting through the Internet via SSL port 992. His users are
timing out after about seven or eight minutes of inactivity.
They're not simply getting another signon screen, they're actually
disconnecting. He turned to the OS/400 Discussion Forum for some
help. Thankfully, site expert Tim Granatir was around to offer
some advice.

Access WebSphere from multiple HTTP servers
Did you know you can access the WebSphere Application Server from
multiple HTTP servers running on the same or different iSeries
machines? That's something you may want to consider if you want to
isolate the compute-intensive resources of WebSphere Application
Server or if you want to isolate WebSphere resources from user
access for security reasons. E-business expert Bob Cancilla shows
you -- step by step -- how to do it.

Working with SSL for Client Access Express
Search400.com member Jim Norbut has CA Express installed on his
iSeries. He configured his SSL Telnet Server for SSL access. After
looking at the CA Express setup, he felt he should've been able to go
into "Selective Setup" and check off SSL access. But it didn't show
up on the list? He posted his question in Search400.com's
WebSphere/Web Developement Forum for advice. Read what some of the
users had to say.

FREE WHITE PAPERS | Search400.com

When it comes to researching hardware or software for your
shop, there's nothing like an independent review of the product
to help you decide whether it's right for you. And white papers
often can provide that outsider point of view. But finding
those white papers can be a hassle, so we've added a new
section to the site to help you out. We've gone out and found
more than 200 white papers, both from independent sources and
vendors, and posted them on Search400.com. No longer do you
need to search the Web for iSeries-specific papers -- they're
all here.
