Over the years it needs to be maintained. To make that job easier, it helps to have code that's easy to read. To do this you can use IF statements -- or you may use the SELECT operation code. A less complicated alternative, the SELECT statement is used when you want to process one of several alternative calculation operations. Follow these steps to have the results of a SELECT statement written to a database file (i.e., an outfile), embed a SQL SELECT statement in an INSERT statement. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci6716,00.html Objects "not saved" during a backup You can also use a SELECT statement during a SQL session to find out which objects where not saved during your backup. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci788619,00.html How to substitute Purchase for 'P' and 'Manufacturing' for 'M' This Search400.com member shows you how to substitute Purchase for 'P' and 'Manufacturing' for 'M' and default 'Administration' for ' '(blank) in a SQL/400 SELECT statement. http://search400.techtarget.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci546326,00.html "CLEAR" advantage over resetting work fields This user said that at times they need to reset the value of work fields, data buffers and screen fields. If a field is an alphanumeric type, then they may move "*BLANKS" when we want it "reset". If a field is numeric, then they may "Zero Add" "*ZEROS" to the field. But the "CLEAR" operation code provides much more flexibility. http://www.search400.com/tip/1,289483,sid3_gci843891,00.html ________________________________________________________________ ************ SPONSORED BY Advanced Systems Concepts ********** FREE TRIAL: SEQUEL - An Easy-to-Use Tool for your AS/400 and iSeries Data Access Needs --> Windows-based Query and Reporting for both End Users and IT Pros --> OLAP Business Analytics --> Data Distribution over a Network or by E-mail --> Secure Web Access CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD FREE TRIAL of SEQUEL: http://search400.com/r/0,,8095,00.htm?asc ________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT MESSAGES AND LINKS: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR 2003? | Search400.com member survey Share your comments and feedback about your iSeries needs for next year.
