LEAD STORY

NEW COST INCENTIVES COULD BE ISERIES' SAVIOR | Search400.com

New offerings by IBM include not only hardware upgrades, but also
pricing improvements that make it very appealing to buy new or
upgrade to an iSeries. The key to success, however, will be if Big
Blue can muster enough marketing brawn to sell these milestone
platform changes to the outside world.

IBM LAUNCHES NEW SERVERS, REPACKAGES THE ISERIES | iSeries Network
IBM today announced a refresh of its iSeries hardware line, which
experts say is the biggest, most significant change to the platform
in a decade. The new packaging does away with interactive features,
and drastically slashes software pricing on many models. (Free

VENDORS FTP TO AND FROM THE ISERIES | Expert Advice: Search400.com

Dear Ask the Expert,
We currently have a requirement for a vendor to FTP data to and
from our iSeries. I have created a single library for this purpose.
How can I secure the FTP process whereby they can use only that
library and no others? I'm using an FTP exit program to limit all
FTP access to only known users and IP addresses. I have also
assigned them a unique User ID and password. Search400.com security
expert Carol Woodbury discusses a few available options.

THE MISSING LINK | Red flags wrinkle resume of Monster.com chief

What monster irony this is! The head of Monster.com, a man whose
job depends on the accurate resumes of others, apparently fudged
his own resume. Jeff Taylor took credit for having a special kind
of Harvard MBA, but there are two problems with that: Taylor
doesn't have a graduate degree in anything, and Harvard doesn't
even offer the kind of MBA that Taylor said he received. A double
fudge! Taylor said he didn't mean to get creative with his
credentials and that the whole thing is a misunderstanding.
