A company in Japan says its Bowlingual gadget knows what your dog is saying. Bowlingual is a small wireless microphone that snaps onto a dog's collar. Every "ruff," "woof," "grrr" and "yip" is transmitted into a doggie database. The technology then translates the dog sounds into something humans can understand. It figures out whether the sounds express happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, assertion or desire -- and translates the emotion into English. For example, "grrr" might come out as, "Hello! This is MY rawhide. Get your own bone!" The company, Takara, plans to unleash Bowlingual this summer in the U.S., although the $120 price tag may make you tuck your tail and flee.
