LEAD STORY

WEBSPHERE, DB2 GET THE POWER | Internet Week

Linux has been available for IBM's Power architecture for some time,
but until now there was a shortage of Power-ready applications for
the 64-bit platform. That changed today, when Big Blue announced
WebSphere, DB2, and Tivoli Security availability for the Power4
processor. The hardware upgrade means IBM is bringing its WebSphere-
Linux combination to pSeries and iSeries customers.

DISCONNECT USER SESSIONS | Shahar Mor, connectivity advice

Dear Shahar,
We use the BOSaNNOVA TCP/IP client to connect to our iSeries. I'm
having a problem with some user sessions. If the users don't sign
off correctly, their session stays active. And until I close that
session, they cannot log on. Is there anything that I can change to
automatically disconnect the user if the client closes?

FIND AND REPLACE A STRING OF CHARACTERS |Forum advice: Search400.com

"Cmarsellus" would like to find and replace coding in his source
program. He wonders if the iSeries has a command that will do a
global find and update. Do you know of any such command?

MISSING LINK | Cell phones can bug mosquitoes, too

Insect repellent can smell repugnant. The odor of OFF! can be a real
turnoff, but then again, so can those big, red welts that crop up on
your skin after mosquitoes have turned your body into a snack bar.
What to do? Pick up the cell phone. The top mobile phone operator in
South Korea has made available a downloadable sound that keeps the
little bloodsuckers at bay. Evidently, the mosquitoes enjoy the
slightly audible sounds in much the same way Kid Rock might enjoy
Barry Manilow -- they get within a few feet, cover their ears, and
buzz off.
