IBM WOOS DELL CUSTOMERS | CNET
IBM is going after Dell customers by offering a 15% discount on its
BladeCentre system and on its x440 top-end Intel server. The
campaign targets Dell's blade servers, which the computer maker has
not been pushing hard, and Dell's lack of a high-end machine with

WEBCAST PREMIERE | iSeries FTP automation made easy

Guest speaker: Thibault Dambrine, owner, TYLOGIX Consulting Inc.

There's no doubt that FTP is the most convenient communication tool
on the iSeries. Being able to do a manual transfer here and there is
good, but to get some real use out of this type of utility, you need
to be able to program it and control it using table-driven
variables. This opens the door to scheduled transfers and the ability
to feed data for business users on multiple platforms
on a regular basis.

How would you automate an FTP function? How would you go about
creating a process to transfer a different file every day to
different systems, the same file to different destinations or a
combination of both? Thibault Dambrine shows you how easy it can be.

MISSING LINK | I told you never to call while I'm working!

Worshippers in Yemen may have felt sympathy for the man begging for
change at their mosque. But that sympathetic vibe quickly changed. In
fact, it died right around the time his cell phone came alive and
rang from deep inside his bag. Evidently, he forgot to turn it off
(or set it to vibrate) before he went to "work" begging. The Yemeni
news agency Saba reports that the bogus beggar took off right after
the ill-timed call. The guy is hardly destitute -- there are only
about five telephones, landline and mobile, for every 100 people
in Yemen.
