LEAD STORY
IS THE ISERIES TOO GOOD TO MARKET? | iSeries Network
Users question IBM's position when it comes to marketing the
iSeries. According to IBM, it gets more bang for its buck by
marketing the eServer brand. But one IBM insider says from IBM's
corporate point of view, it just wouldn't make sense to push the
iSeries and adds, "The iSeries is such a good machine that it
doesn't sell." (Free registration to this site required.)

IBM SERVES UP ON-DEMAND MIDDLEWARE | Computer Business Review
IBM this week will use the U.S. Open tennis tournament to showcase a
revamped set of server provisioning middleware it acquired in May
when it bought Think Dynamics. ThinkControl, which is now called
Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator, creates a pool of IT resources that
can be allocated to applications dynamically based on policies set by
business managers.
IBM TO UPDATE INFORMATION INTEGRATION TOOL | InternetNews
IBM's DB2 Information Integrator product, which pools many data
sources into one location, has apparently become so popular that
customers have asked the company to one-up itself. So IBM has
embarked on a new project, code-named "Masala," to add to that
product, which is designed to help businesses make better use of
the information once it can be accessed centrally.

MISSING LINK | Self-parking Toyota -- look Ma, no hands!
Do you remember Toyota's old slogan, "You asked for it, you got it"?
Well, evidently, someone asked for a car that could park itself. And
they got it. The company is now selling a Prius model in Japan that
can park itself without the driver touching the wheel. The car uses
electrically operated power steering and sensors to help guide the
car as it reverses into parking spaces -- kinda like cruise control
for the parking lot. As far as parking technology goes, it's without
parallel.
