What are your plans for 2004?
Amazingly, the end of 2003 is quickly approaching. Where has the time gone? What have we accomplished this past year? For many of you, your time was spent doings such things as upgrading operating systems or installing new iSeries machines, helping to get your company UCCnet-compliant, implementing new applications, Web-enabling applications and even mundane things like simply getting things to print correctly.
Now it's time to look forward to 2004. Do your budgets look any better for next year? Will you be able to work on project you had to put on the back burner this year? Will you have more personal challenges in the workplace?
We'd like to know what your plans are. By taking a simple 14-question survey, you can help guide future content on Search400.com. Your answers will help us determine what issues are important to members and what subjects we should cover. Then we can give you Featured Topics, webcasts, technical tips and more that focus on subjects you care most about.
I hope you'll take a few minutes now and tell us what will be a priority for you in 2004.

CPF4131: System level error
This Search400.com member wanted to add two new columns in one of his physical files. To compile it, he deleted all of the logical files based on the physical file. After he got it compiled, he tried to run the RPG program that uses the physical file, but received a CPF4131 check level error message. Thankfully, "Ckelly" offered some advice. |

Why hard disks are important in performance tuning
by Ron Turull
Of all the components in a computer, the auxiliary storage devices are the slowest. While the hard drives (i.e., DASD) are the fastest of all the auxiliary storage devices, they are painfully slow when compared to the speed of the other components (which operate at essentially the speed of electricity). It is, therefore, essential to make sure that your hard drives are tuned to the utmost. |
