Get the most out of Web services
[Search400.com]
by Jim Mason
Not sure how to use Web services -- or if you even should? This tip provides an overview of Web services and walks you through the three steps for building a simple Web service in WDSC.
More firms using Web services to integrate legacy apps
[Search400.com]
More companies are using Web services to expose the data in their legacy applications to browser-equipped servers, mobile devices and other new types of systems. But this is a relatively new endeavor, one that's been explored by only a handful of companies to date, and it's not necessarily a good idea for those just starting out with Web services.
WDSC lets you tap into the power of XML
[Search400.com]
When it comes to Web development, XML is a powerful tool. But you don't need to be a highly skilled Java XML developer to make use of it. WebSphere Development Studio Client (WDSC) for iSeries Version 5 (both the Standard and Advanced editions) offers several options to create Web database and XML applications, including a number of helpful wizards.
The IBM iSeries Developer Road Map: Is it right for you?
[Search400.com]
The iSeries Developer Road Map isn't the first road map iSeries developers have had from IBM, but this one promises to make more sense to more people as they shift to using J2EE to develop Web-based applications.
