eBay wedding gown turns frowns upside down
[AuctionBytes.com]
His former bride didn't love him, but evidently everyone else does. A Seattle man who put his ex-wife's wedding dress up for bid on eBay has turned into an Internet hit -- more than 6 million hits, the most in the site's history. Why all the buzz? For one thing, Larry Star modeled the dress. As a hairy, stocky man, he is one ugly bride -- even with his face blotted out. Star also included some hysterically bitter commentary with
the dress description, calling it "a $1,200 shower curtain" for which his "drunken sot of an ex-father-in-law" never reimbursed him. When bidding closed last week, Star had a $3,850 offer and 15 minutes of fame. Not bad, considering all he wanted from the frock was enough money for beer and baseball tickets.
