A report card issued by a Massachusetts research firm has IBM out front with a sizeable lead in the infrastructure software market.

At least one iSeries distributor believes that once the dust settles from IBM's May 4 eServer i5 announcement, the channel will calm down and get down to business. That dust should be settled within a month as resellers sort through the i5 hype and get to the meat of the matter.

Dear Ken,
We are new to BRMS, and we can't figure out how to get our old backup tapes into the BRMS catalog. We want to enter the tapes labeled "Month End Save" (24 months of tapes) into a control group and then run a report or screen inquiry and see the old ones and the new ones created since BRMS was installed. How do we do that?

One thing's for sure -- of all the reality shows on television, UKTV Style's "Watching Paint Dry" has the most gloss. It's also the most realistic; you tune in to watch a different kind of paint dry on an empty wall each day (talk about truth in advertising!). Now the show is available via the Web 24 hours, and visitors can vote for their favorite paint. Think of it as "American Idol" meets Sherwin-Williams meets rampant boredom. Producers got the idea for the show after deciding they'd rather watch paint dry than see another reality TV show -- maybe Hollywood will rip it off with Watching Grass Grow.
