Sun partnerships aimed squarely at IBM

IBM has an axis of competition to worry about -- Sun, Fujitsu and Siemens have announced a new partnership wherein they will create Sun's new generation of computers based on Solaris and SPARC chips. Together, the companies will give Big Blue and HP a run for their money.

Open Solaris could help Sun bite back at Big Blue

Sun's decision (confirmed but not detailed) to open up part of Solaris is drawing mixed reviews from the peanut gallery of analysts. One analyst with Robert Frances Group said opening Solaris could be just the ticket for Sun to parry competition from IBM, HP, Dell and enterprise Linux firms such as Red Hat.

Dear Carol,
Is there a way to allow a user to initially print a printer file from an OUTQ? For example, I'd like to have them print payroll checks, but I'd don't want them to have the abilitly to reprint the checks without the proper authorization.

Have you double clicked today? If so, whatever you do, don't try to claim the click as your own (you can claim your finger). Microsoft now owns the U.S. patent on the double click. So does this mean you'll need to remit Redmond some cash every time your finger pulls the mouse trigger twice? Probably not. Let's just hope IBM doesn't start charging 10 cents for every "Control-Alt-Delete," because if you had a dime for every time your Windows machine wigged out, you'd have enough money to hire Bill or Steve to clean your pool.
