The state of the iSeries industry
With IBM's latest announcements -- a new line of servers, a new operating system and price reductions -- things seem to be looking up for the iSeries market. But are they really?
Over the next several weeks, Search400.com will be taking a close look at iSeries installations, companies' plans for running the iSeries, applications being developed and installed on the platform, overall satisfaction with the server -- as well as satisfaction with IBM's plans for it. Our goal is to monitor the overall health of the iSeries industry and gauge how the iSeries is faring against other platforms. But we need your help.
We've put together a 15-minute survey to help us determine the most critical issues affecting iSeries-AS/400 professionals. What projects are you focusing on? Are you developing more applications for the iSeries? Are applications being moved off the iSeries to other platforms? Do you think you'll still be working on the iSeries three years from now?
Your opinions will contribute to a major editorial report to be published during the summer. Only aggregate results will be presented; your answers will be kept completely confidential.
So, tell us, what are your company's plans for the iSeries? Take the survey today.

Freeform RPG/passed parameters

| Tip of the Week: |
The call of the prototype
By Paul Tuohy
A lot of RPG programmers are under the misconception that the CALLP operation means Call Procedure. That is because most of them come across it when they start using subprocedures. But CALLP means Call a Prototyped Procedure or Program, and it can be used in place of the CALL operation, as well as CALLB. |
