Summer iSeries word challenge
Sick of the humdrum of your daily routine? You're not alone. According to the City & Guilds Happiness Index -- compiled to track the satisfaction of the country's workforce -- one in 10 IT workers is unhappy in his/her job. In light of that depressing news, we've decided to do something about that statistic. We understand that we can't cheer up all IT professionals, but we can do our best to keep all of you iSeries
pros smiling.
Last week we started the iSeries word scramble game. It must have been just what the doctor ordered because more than 1,000 of you checked it out and quite a few returned completed scrambles. For those of you who didn't get a chance to check out game #1, there's still time, and for those of you who gave it a try but weren't able to complete it, here are the answers.
Each week we'll provide a new word challenge. Once you've completed the challenge, e-mail your answers to us. We'll also provide the answers each week for the previous week's scramble. At the end of the month, we'll place all of the entries into a drawing for a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. So challenge your friends, challenge your co-workers. And if your boss happens to be lurking over your shoulder, explain that Search400.com is
just helping you brush up on your iSeries terminology!
Don't miss out on the fun:

Restore from savlib *allusr
Mike Sturm was trying to restore a specific library from a tape that was saved to by issuing a savlib *allusr. He could see the library that he wanted to restore when he displayed the tape, but when he tried to restore the library with command rstlib savlib(xxx) dev(tap01) label(qfile) he received the error message CPF3713 - RSTLIB command not valid for file QFILE. What was he doing wrong? "Isu4me" had some advice.

How to use DB2's cross-reference files to help manage your database -- Part I
by Ron Turull
DB2 maintains a number of cross-reference files that you can use to easily retrieve information about files on your system. They contain information on files, fields, keys, referential constraints and much more, and they are easy the work with. |

by Rich Loeber
In these days of rampant computer viruses, worms and other malicious programs moving their way around the Internet, the concept of the Trojan Horse is alive and well. But, you say, I'm sitting here working on my completely safe and secure iSeries-AS/400 system running the most secure operating system in town! These things can't affect me. Think again.

Vendor Webcast
UCCnet: One version of the truth
When: Wednesday, June 16 at 2 p.m. EDT (18:00, GMT)
The basic requirement for UCCnet success is to start with one version of the truth. For suppliers that means synchronizing product data across departments and systems before sending data to your customers. Without this important system of record, or one official version of your product data, UCCnet does not deliver the benefits you or your customers expect.
