Interested in iSeries training?

As an iSeries professional, what does your future look like? Do you have an idea of the direction you'd like to take your career but can't seem to make it work because of time, logistics and lack of opportunity? Last week, we ran a story, "Users stuck in rut, no time to train," that highlighted just how serious a problem this is for iSeries pros. As a site that is committed to putting information about the iSeries at your fingertips, Search400.com also wants to make it easier for you to fit training and upgrading your skills into your schedule.

If we offered courses that could help you attain the next level of proficiency or could help you develop your skills for the latest programming language, would you be interested? Let us know if that is something you'd find useful, then take our poll and give us an idea of which technology you believe would be worth investing time in.

Thanks for your time. We're looking forward to hearing from you.

This Week: In the forums
>> Retrieve a physical file source
"Candles" wondered how to retrieve a physical file source that he didn't have the DDS source for. He asked if it's possible to retrieve the source if the file has already been deleted. "Pankaj99" says yes, and he explained how to do it.

>> Advice needed to create a generic display
"Michaelc2" writes, "On one of my LPARs I would like to give all users signing on a visual reminder that states, 'TEST environment.' Is there one display file I can modify to accomplish this? I would also like the generic screen with this title to remain on all screens the user navigates to." Does anyone know if this is possible?

>> Making a permanent change to a library list
"KGlenn" needed to add a library to his library list, but he didn't want it just for that session. He had no problem adding the new library with EDTLIBL, but he wanted this change to be permanent and didn't know how to go about it. Thankfully, "Skitch210" was on hand to offer some help.

User profile exit points make administrators' lives easier
by Ron Turull

If your shop is like most, when you add a new user to your system, your work seldom ends with creating a new user profile.
