IBM mulls blade desktops [CNET News.com] IBM is considering extending its blade server line with the addition of blade desktops -- taking a PC's processor, drive and memory off the desktop and moving them onto cards in server-room chassis where they can be more easily managed. Maybe it came in handy when your car broke down or when your spouse called during your commute home to remind you to stop and buy toilet paper. For one man in Australia, the cell phone was a lifesaver because it saved his life. A crossbow-wielding attacker with an ax to grind fired an arrow at the man's chest -- right into the shirt pocket where he had stuffed his cell phone. Good call storing the phone in front; it stopped the arrow cold.
