However, there are a number of technologies outside the iSeries that could have a serious impact on the platform. 'Wave rat' pulls $50,000 Web site [Reuters] Was he just trying to help or just trying to help himself? That is the question in the case of a 20-year-old art student in Canada who put the domain name "tsunamirelief.com" up for sale on eBay for $50,000. He had gotten the name for free just after the deadly waves hit, telling the original owner he represented an international fundraising effort (from his dorm room?). What followed was a wave of negative publicity -- the New York Post called him a "wave rat," suggesting he was trying to pocket some profit from the disaster. His parents say he was planning to donate all the money to relief efforts.
