[amsat-bb] Top 10 sats
Hi Guys, As a beginner, I'm always asked wich top 10 sats people are listening too most of the time !?!? I heard for the first time tonight CO-66 It was very interesting to discover a voice message beacon followed by a digital picture transmission never tought about a sat like this. Wich top 10 sats could be in my list !?!? It could be a kind of survey I only have 2 Eggbeater antennas V+U with AR² preamps combined with my FT-736R. Thank for your time ! 73 -- Jean-François Ménard VA2SS =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= AMSAT www.amsat.org / Member #37102 ARRL www.arrl.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. [amsat-bb] Re: Testimonial for Erich, DK1TB (SatPC32)
Yes, Hats off the Erich! This is yet another example of how accommodating he is to the users of this wonderful software. I don't know if other's asked for it as well but some while back I asked him about the absence of a countdown timer for AOS/LOS and within days he sent me a version of the program that included it. It has now been incorporated as a regular feature for quite sometime and I use it all the time. I've also been impressed with the quick responses I've gotten to any questions I've had. Thanks Erich!! 73, Michael W4HIJ Peter Sils wrote: > > > > I would like to thank Erich, DK1TB for performing a change to his program to > help me accomplish what I needed to do. > > I wanted to run my Yaesu G-5500 with my ST-1 controller (Fox Delta) with just > the AZ rotor and not use the EL rotor (antenna's in the attic so can't use > EL). [amsat-bb] Testimonial for Erich, DK1TB (SatPC32)
I would like to thank Erich, DK1TB for performing a change to his program to help me accomplish what I needed to do. I wanted to run my Yaesu G-5500 with my ST-1 controller (Fox Delta) with just the AZ rotor and not use the EL rotor (antenna's in the attic so can't use EL). The ST-1 would not continue to track AZ unless it received data from the EL rotor. Erich sent me a modified version of SatPC32 that would output the EL data as 0 and thus made the ST-1 function in just AZ. Erich has supported me with every question and now went way beyond the "call of duty" to modify his program - for me! I have used other tracking software and have NEVER received support like I have experienced from Erich! Whats more is that he donates his revenue from SatPC32 to AMSAT! He does this all for nothing! My hat goes off to Erich for being an outstanding citizen in the AMSAT community! THANK YOU Erich!! If you have not looked at SatPC32 I recommend you do: http://www.dk1tb.de/indexeng.htm While I am at it I would also like to thank Dinesh VU2FD - Fox Delta: http://foxdelta.com/ for all of his support regarding his ST-1 & 3 that I own. They are a true value and the support is excellent from Dinesh! TNX also to Dinesh! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I received my Christmas present early from Erich! 73 Peter KD0AA ___ Sent via amsat...@amsat.org. Opinions expressed are those of the author. Not an AMSAT-NA member? [amsat-bb] Re: G-5500 problem
Hi, Another reason not to put the capacitor in the rotator is that it is exposed to large temperature swings, which will definitely shorting its life. You are fortunate enought that your capacitor only looses capacity. Much better is the old KR-500 with it's capacitor inside the control box. [amsat-bb] Re: AO-51 trasatlantic QSO possible now
Hi Luc, No satellite capability at present but I can confirm for anyone on the BB who hasn't tried it, transatlantic contacts are perfectly possible via AO-51. With most of Europe out of the footprint you will probably have the satellite to yourselves. Another great time to try, when the passes are sutiable is around midnight UTC into western USA and Canada. 5W is plenty. Just Nortyh amarica, Scandinavia and Scotland in the footprint. 73 John G7HIA From: Luc Leblanc To: amsat-bb@amsat.org Cc: eu-am...@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, 11 December, 2009 9:36:21 Subject: [amsat-bb] AO-51 trasatlantic QSO possible now Each 3 days AO-51 footprint reach eastern NA and Europe. [amsat-bb] Re: Loosing the north!!!
It depends what antenna system you have. If you use high gain antenna system, how can you see the differens? Best way is comparing with a no directional antenna before and after the clip over of the sat. But that's to late for that now. Perhaps we can start start to messure and after next clip over we can start al over again so we can compare the data. Messurements must be done with several passes and same equipment. 73 Dan ON5UE -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org [mailto:amsat-bb-boun...@amsat.org] Namens Luc Leblanc Verzonden: donderdag 10 december 2009 22:33 Aan: amsat-bb@amsat.org CC: eu-am...@yahoogroups.com Onderwerp: [amsat-bb] Loosing the north!!! Again my Alfa Spid AZ rotor act again yesterday evening it loose his north setting as it is electronicly set with the control box. Very easy to reset but in the middle of a snow storm (25cm) i was unable to find something to point the beam physically to the north. At the same time there was an AO-51 pass i adjust the rotor to an estimated north and i follow the whole pass manually writing down the real calculated azimuth and the one i got from a maximum signal swinging the rotor back an forth. I make another pass doing the same operation to fined tuned my pointing and today on the 1549 EDT pass i was able to get the satelllite at 1 degrees AOS ans LOS!! signal was S7 most of the time and reaching S9 near TCA? I don't know if AO-51 is still pointing towards the southern hemisphere but i notice only one deep fade and signal was much better than the first attitude change days and i think he never was so strong? I'm guessing my "scientific" previous north pointing was bad or my UHF beam is shooting not towards he point? I'm always using automatic AZ tracking could be i was shooting aside of the target for a while... Just try this on a pass could be you will be astonish too? If AO-51 was returned back to his normal attitude i will have to reavaluate all of what i wrote above.
