Bug#593146: installation-reports: Grub Config/Install gives prompts in wrong order -
Christian, Thanks for that, I tried running the daily netinst just now , in a virtual machine to see what results I could get the previous reported oddities have disapeared, however with this netinst I can't complete the install as it fails to install grub on /dev/sda. netinst build: *Sun Aug 15 21:16:41 UTC 2010*. Checking tty4, it states "grub-probe error - no such disk" "Auto-detection of a filesystem module failed, specify the module explicitly" "Running 'grub-install --no-floppy --force "/dev/sda"' failed" Do you want me to file a new installation report for this, and close this bug? That seems simple, straightforward and I don't see any risk in committing this. Let's wait for Otavio's comment but I'd say GO for committing. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

You should try using something else than alpha1 netinst. GRUB was changed deeply since alpha1 was released and the netinst image includes grub packages as they were by the time of that release. Could you try using either the businesscard alpha1 (GRUB ad grub-installer packages will then be those currently in testing) or, even better, the current daily builds and particularly the *netboot* daily build. If that solves your issue, then I suggest you close this bug report (by sending a mail to 593146-d...@bugs.d.o). signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Veeven wrote: > Package: win32-loader > Severity: normal > Tags: l10n > > Telugu (te) translation for win32-loader/l10n/po/te.po > > This is part of D-I level 3. Hi, and thanks for your contribution, unfortunately, there are two problems with the actual situation: 1) You used an old .po version (the actual can be downloaded there [0]), so it is not complete for the sid version. Now, I committed your actual translation into the d-i svn, in order to acknowledge the actual work. :-) And I intend to close this bug when win32-loader gets uploaded. 2) [and this is actually worse] nsis is not translated into Telegu yet, which makes it impossible for win32-loader to actually use your translation on Windows hosts. Other languages are in the same situation: Asturian, Dzongkha, Kazakh, … See e.g. bugs #587208, #511625, #578501 for details. Now the actual strategy is to include the .po files in the hope that nsis gets translated once into said languages. How does that sound to you ? Bug#512546: Ethernet card not found
Package: installation-reports Severity: importand Hi kernel team, I am promoting Debian edu to one of the schools in my region. And found their machines are all has a built-in intel 82567LM-3 e1000e NIC which effected by this bug. I can confirmed the patch provided by Holger solved the problem. But it would be much better to support this network card by default for our users especially the school teachers and students in my region. May I know what's current status for this bug? System would not reboot. It ended up in openboot at the “ok” prompt. Last message was “Fast Data Access MMU Miss” (WOW. This STILL has not been fixed). I assumed this was the same problem as with the 02-08-2010 build. The problem was ameliorated then in terms of “fixing” bugs(569719, related = 565639 & 562594). Did so again: Did rescue into an installer shell within hda2. >chroot /target >mount /dev/hda1 /boot >silo -u -f Then attempted to reboot. The boot process could not find “/dev/hda2” for root. It had been renamed “/dev/sda2” in the boot environment. But it was still /dev/hda2 on the disk. I changed hda2 to sda2 in /boot/silo.conf . This allowed the boot sequence to complete. Now I am left with disk partitions named sda* instead of hda*. What is up with this? Are we changing naming conventions? Will this inconsistency be fixed?
