I think there's a small misunderstanding. Packaging CouchDB itself is
not a daunting task, as quoting Micah: "I've imported the 1.6.0
upstream code and built a package from it, it was quite easy to do!".
What needs to be done is to package the individual projects included
in CouchDB. You can pick either ibrowse, mochiweb, erlang-oauth or
google-snappy and make a deb out of them. You may also try to compile
ZeroClipboard.as to SWF or you may convince upstream to include a
non-minified version of spin.js in the source. Which one do you
choose?

Laszlo/GCS

Bug#696534: Confirmed the bug is still present

2014-07-07 Thread Jan-Oliver Wagner
Hello,

I can confirm that the bug is still there.
We experienced it now and then.

Was not easy to find out it was bootlogd.

# update-rc.d bootlogd disable

made the system come back to normal.

After fixing another daemon that produce strange output,
re-enabling of bootlogd was possible and all worked again.

Best

Jan

 I have
one doubt: does "states" translate to the Danish

 "statistik"? I am asking
 because

 Please note that the
original language "states" has nothing to do

 like "statistik").
 Please clarify
 whether there's a better translation.
 Thanks again!

Again, according to Policy 10.1, as well as precedent that was
established by the CTTE decision regarding the namespace collision
between ax25-node vs. nodejs, no, it isn't; your argument is no
different from that of the nodejs maintainers, arguing that
/usr/bin/node should be taken over by nodejs simply because it's
already widely used by the nodejs community.

If you feel strongly enough about this issue, I'd suggest filing a bug
against debian-policy, going through the process and gathering
consensus to change 10.1 (e.g. perhaps by weakening it to a "should"
instead of a "must", or by proposing a carefully-worded exception to
existing policy).

Regards,
Vincent

Bug#754150: pkg-php-tools: Please allow phpcomposer to handle dev and patch releases

2014-07-07 Thread Daniel Beyer
Package: pkg-php-tools
Version: 1.12
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

It seem like in bug #729452 it was missed to add support for versions
that have a '-dev' or '-patch' suffix. I came across this while trying
to use dh_phpcomposer to generate substvars for
symfony/proxy-manager-bridge (v2.3.16), which has the following in its
composer.json:

 "require": {
"php": ">=5.3.3",
"symfony/dependency-injection": "~2.3",
"ocramius/proxy-manager": ">=0.3.1,<0.4-dev"
},

According to composer's documentation [1] '-patch' can be followed by an
optional number, while '-dev' can not.

The patch attached adds the missing support.

Bug#754149: lava-server: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review proposal

2014-07-07 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: lava-server
Version: N/A
Severity: normal

Dear Debian maintainer,

Hello,

I just noticed new or modified debconf templates appearing for this
package.

I would like to suggest you to consider calling for debconf templates
review AND translation updates when you introduce new debconf
templates or modify the existing templates in a package or, if you
prefer, to send a call for translations after uploading the first
version that introduces new templates or templates changes.

If you're interested in suggestions for doing this, you can find some
at the end of this bug report.

The debian-l10n-english team will now start a review, on our own
initiative. It will be conducted through this bug report.

Suggestions for future debconf templates review

1) Getting debconf templates reviewed
--

The Debian i18n contributors have developed a set of suggestions for
the writing style of debconf templates, to give them an overall
consistency all around Debian. These writing style suggestions are
explained in the Developers Reference. Lintian also warns about common
writing style concerns.

Maintainers are welcome when they ask for a review of debconf templates
and/or packages descriptions on debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org.
It is of course not needed to wait for someone (such as me right me)
proposing you such a review.

In such situations (whether the review is requested by the maintainer
or proposed by someone else), someone from the debian-l10n-english
team will pick up the review to do, handle it, and finally send you a
bug report with the suggested templates. If you want, you can ask for
being CC'ed to the various discussions when the templates are
reviewed.

2) Call for new translations

As soon as the templates have been reviewed, you can ask Debian
translators for new translations:

Just go to your package's build tree and use:

$ podebconf-report-po --call

This will propose you a generic mail which is to be sent to
debian-i...@lists.debian.org and call for new translations.

This utility will mention existing translations to avoid duplicate
work.

It will also attach the needed material to this mail.

Please also think about giving a deadline to translators. We like
deadlines..:-)

3) Always call for translation updates before uploading
---

(of course only when you change the debconf templates!)

If your package already includes debconf translations (ie *.po files
in debian/po), please consider calling for translation updates if you
happen to change something in the templates...or just in case when you
release a new version.

This is done with the following command:

$ podebconf-report-po

This will build private mails to translators (ie people listed in
"Last-Translator" in the PO files) for translations that are
incomplete. These mails will included the needed PO file for each
translator.

No, as I said in an earlier reply, enabling OpenConnect in the KDE
networking widget requires a newer version of OpenConnect than is in
wheezy.

I went ahead and dropped it for now. It's all just stored in the
ActionItem. Easy enough to add it if we need it.

Updated patch attached. This time with some tests added as well.

Bug#754148: rxvt: querying initial terminal size fails due to fix for bug #202497

2014-07-07 Thread Mike Miller
Source: rxvt
Version: 1:2.7.10-5.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The fix for Debian bug #202497 causes rxvt to not report its initial terminal
size correctly when queried with a standard ioctl() call. Only after the rxvt
window is resized can the terminal size be retrieved correctly.

The attached simple C program shows the ioctl call I am using to query the
terminal size. This uses the TIOCGWINSZ ioctl to get the terminal size of the
program's controlling terminal. When this program is run in a newly started
rxvt, the terminal size is returned as {0,0}. If the rxvt is resized with the
mouse and the program is run again, the correct updated size is returned.

This appears to be a Debian-specific problem, as the patch that was applied to
fix #202497 appears to be the cause of this behavior. When rxvt is rebuilt
without this patch, the correct initial size {24,80} is returned.

I don't fully understand the race condition mentioned in #202497, but it is
implied that the patch applied is only a band-aid and not a real fix. The patch
clearly introduces this undesired reproducible behavior into rxvt for Debian
users, so I would like to see it removed, but I can't comment on the original
problem with the terminal dimensions.

I have factored in what I think are the latest patches from Rowan, and
uploaded 2.6.9 to sid, so hopefully we'll have something to test in
jessie soon enough before the freeze that we can get some more testing.

Unfortunately, I mostly run Smokeping on production systems, which makes
this quite difficult to test for me - I'm working a little bit in the
blind here.

I have nevertheless reviewed the patches, and they seem good. I'm a
little hesitant about the documentation changes, because we're diverging
From upstream - Rowan, could you look at submitting those patches
upstream in a way that would work for both Debian and upstream?

Ideally we'd cut down on the number of patches in debian/patches, not
add to them. :) But of course, better to fix bugs than avoid patching...

Finally, Rowan, if you are interested, you could join me in maintaining
that package. Even if you are not a Debian maintainer, you can still
work on the git repository through the Alioth service. See this page to
get more information on how it works and getting an account:

https://wiki.debian.org/Alioth/PackagingProject

The workflow would basically be that you could commit the changes into
git, and then I could review them and upload the changes in the Debian
archive.

Smokeping packaging definitely needs help. I did some work in getting it
up to speed in the last 5 years, but the work is far from done, as can
be seen in the debian/TODO file and the numerous bugs found in the
Debian BTS.

Sorry if I've been a little slow with the patches, I'll try to be
swifter next time! :)

A.

I had a quick look, and you can use «dpkg-parsechangelog -SVersion»
since dpkg 1.17.1, instead of mangling its output.

Actually, it looks like those three files in site-start.d were expecting
to see .elc files in those same directories, when they're now kept in
emacs-version-specific directories.

> Can you purge the packages, retry, and if it fails again show me the

Hmm, it looks like this probably happened because I didn't upgrade
emacsen-common before I upgraded your packages; just:

,
| $ dpkg-reconfigure {debian-el,devscripts-el,dpkg-dev-el}
`

(with emacsen-common 2.08 installed this time) seems to have been enough
to get it working again. My only guess as to why this would help is
that the scripts called to to build the elisp didn't actually do
anything useful in the old version of emacsen-common ...

However, I *still* get all of the messages I mentioned, so something
tells me that these files are all useless to me now:

,
| % ls -l
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50{debbugs-el,debian-el,devscripts-el,dpkg-dev-el,emacs-goodies-el}.el

| -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 705 Dec 4 2007
/etc/emacs/site-start.d/50emacs-goodies-el.el
`

In fact, dpkg doesn't even *know* about two of them:

Bug#754146: gettext: fix FTBFS on ppc64el with autoreconf or libtool patch (provided)

2014-07-07 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira

Package: src:gettext

Tags: patch
User: debian-powe...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ppc64el
User: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: autoreconf

Hi Santiago,

Either of the attached patches fix a FTBFS on ppc64el due to shared
libraries not being built (due to old libtool.m4/configure script).

Would you please consider one of them for an upload?

One is a simple patch (fixes only ppc64el). The other is a more complete
dh-autoreconf thing (fixes ppc64el and other new arches, but uses dh_,
which AFAICT the package is not using, but does build successfully).

With either of them applied, the contents of the built packages (i.e.,
dpkg-deb -c) are equivalent to those of powerpc packages (i.e., no diff
in file listings, accounting for GNU arch name difference).

Thank you,

My point was that the problem isn't a missing *question* - it's a
missing *answer*. And it isn't clear yet what the question is likely
to be about. Are the "elements" the codenames of the dictionaries
provided by the packages? Are the "classes" the two families of wfoo
and ifoo packages? The answers may seem obvious to you, but they
won't to ordinary users.

So are we expecting "Choices_dictcom" to always be a list of language
codenames like "castellano8 (Spanish 8 bit)"?

(Wait... what package provides that, anyway? wspanish is just
"castellano (Spanish)", and I don't see a wspanish-legacy...)

Try to look at it from the point of view of somebody who doesn't
already know what the "available values" are values *of* and who or
what they are available *to*. If users are likely to end up looking
at something like this:

The configuration question for "default-wordlist" is empty but some
elements are installed for the "wordlist" class:

Available values: "american-huge (American English -- huge) british-huge
(British English -- huge)"
   Involved packages/Error: "wamerican-huge wbritish-huge"

... then this shouldn't need to be any more complicated than:

The setting for "default-wordlist" is missing, but packages
   providing a wordlist are installed: wamerican-huge wbritish-huge

If all that's needed is an ASCII key to identify a language, it's far
from clear to me why the dictionaries don't have names like "fr" (with
package names like "words-fr")...

FWIW, I don't see how adding "ff" and the like to the OT fonts simply as
independent glyphs for rendering, not related to any OT or Unicode
ligature mechanism, could confuse anything.

I agree the real bug is in poppler (and/or Debian's choice of using
these OT fonts without sufficient testing), but on the other hand, GUST
foundry has always tried hard to work with the world as it is, rather
than how it should be.

Source: emacs-defaults
Severity: wishlist

Please consider making emacs-defaults produce 'emacs-nox' as well, as
virtual package depending on 'emacs24-nox'. That would make possible
future transitions (emacs25?) depend on emacs maintainer switch only.
Might it be worth checking whether also producing 'emacs-lucid',
'emacs-common', etc.

Thanks.

Bug#445558: util-linux: fstab support for shared mounts

2014-07-07 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Control: tags -1 + fixed-upstream

Hello!

This should be fixed with the new sys-utils implementation of mount
where --make-shared is just an alias for -o shared (since atleast v2.23).

Andreas Henriksson

I do not think that it is removed from unstable to blueman. I think we
better to proceed with the work of bluez5 little gradually.

Bug#753999: debian-policy: please switch to emacs24

2014-07-07 Thread Gabriele Giacone
Source: emacs-defaults
Severity: wishlist

Please consider making emacs-defaults produce 'emacs-nox' as well, as
virtual package depending on 'emacs24-nox'. That would make possible
future transitions (emacs25?) depend on emacs maintainer switch only.
Might it be worth checking whether also producing 'emacs-lucid',
'emacs-common', etc.

Thanks.

2014-07-07 Thread juichenieder-deb...@yahoo.co.uk
Hi Faidon,
Yes, my apologies, I should have worded my initial post clearer

along the lines of what you have just written.  I still feel relatively
new to Debian, but getting there.

I don't seem to have received an email about your post, but luckily

I checked back.  To move this along, I enclose information on the

current status received from Thorsten to give you an idea of current

status.

Many thanks, and hopefully one day I'll have the skills to do
something like this myself :).

Best,
Jack

PM From Thorsten Glaser 8 May:

I have no idea if Thijs has any
plans related to this. I have few time unfortunately, and
supporting broken services such as Yahoo’s is definitely not
on my priority list (in fact, my own mailserver blocks incoming
messages from them), although I may be able to allocate some
$dayjob time to it eventually. But that’ll take a while.

(In fact, there’s still more of our current “fork” of the
Debian mailman package that needs to be fed back into Debian,
*and* some issues with it to resolve. I really need to manage
to allocate some time towards working with mailman.)

Well my initial idea was to try to see if we could provide an installer
that was able to install a SELinux enabled machine on the first reboot
with all the files properly labeled on disk.

But as said this would require some changes in different components
(udpkg, add a refpolicy udeb,...), so this is maybe a bit premature to
start providing a udeb for libselinux.

This was actually a wild idea and I didn't really checked in depth. So
if somebody is really interested in this, I could have a look otherwise
I'll put this in my longterm TODO list I guess.

Cheers,

What does following command output?

$ sudo update-alternatives --display flash-mozilla.so

This was a long time ago and I'm not sure how the situation was back then,
but atleast now the "cal" program is shipped by "bsdmainutils" and
not by the "bsdutils" package from src:util-linux.

Could you please check if you can still reproduce the problem
and if so provide the info from:
dpkg -S $(which cal)
dpkg -l $(dpkg -S $(which cal) | cut -d: -f1)

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing here.

I've attached the patch for reference and clarity.

> Have to remember that IPv6 address can be written different ways and in

Not applicable. IPv6 addresses in SubjectAlt seem to be always 16
bytes. At least for certificates created with OpenSSL. There is no
other way to differentiate between IPv4 and IPv6 except for IP address
length in certificate.

Anyway, if for some reason an address is not 16-bytes (IPv6) or 4
bytes (IPv4), it just defaults back to its previous functionality -
failure parsing a given record.

Comparisons are done by function that calls the modified function (it
uses getaddrinfo). There is no patches required anywhere else except
to the X509 parser that does not handle IPv6 IPADDR. Yes, I'm using
IPv6 literal addresses in certificates, hence my interest in getting
it working (so I don't have to patch manually!).

The upstream version claims to still be called python-gnupg. There is a
python-gnupg package that hasn't been updated since 2014.

How does this package fit in with the existing python-gnupg package?

Bug#754041: "apt-get build-dep " no longer secure when cwd=/tmp

2014-07-07 Thread Jakub Wilk

* David Kalnischkies , 2014-07-07, 23:32:

 # apt-get build-dep nyancat

Even if we ignore security for a moment I am not a fan of this syntax
as it is too suprising for me.

I don't like it either. :)

I think I would be happier if this would always require a
relative/absolute path rather than just a directory name ala: apt-get
build-dep ./nyancat

(aka: at least one / in the pkgname before a file lookup is attempt.
And a message like those for regex/glob if it matched anything)

Note that this was valid syntax in apt (<< 1.1):

# apt-get build-dep nyancat/unstable

So we might need a stricter rule than "at least one / ...".

Perhaps something like this: the argument must start with "./" or start
with "/" or end with "/" to be considered a directory name?

In this specific situation I'm running "github-backup $organization"
actually, and it's about private repositories that are owned by
$organization.

Bug#754142: handbrake: fix capitalization of OGG - should be Ogg

2014-07-07 Thread Matt Zagrabelny
Package: handbrake
Version: 0.9.9+svn6032+dfsg1-2+b1

Dear Maintainer,

Thanks for packaging handbrake. I noticed in the package description
that OGG is uppercased - it should be simply capitalized (Ogg).

Cheers!

Bug#754141: dovecot: build-dependency on clucene-dev should be versioned

Package: dovecot

Dovecot fails to build against clucene-dev in wheezy.

Upstream wiki states that CLucene 2.3 is required, and explicitly
mentions 0.9 (the version in wheezy) as inadequate.

Therefore, the build-dependency should be tightened to "(>= 2.3)".

Bug#682842: mount: 'mount -a -t cifs' does not honor 'user(s)' option

2014-07-07 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Stefan Schwarzer!

I'm looking over (old) util-linux bug reports to try to identify
which ones are still relevant and which has already been fixed
in newer upstream releases...

With util-linux 2.24.2 the error message is a bit more clear:

$ mount -at cifs
mount: only root can use "--all" option

Even though in your case being able to use the -a option might seem
convenient, I can't come up with a good general semantics on how
it should behave in all cases.
If you think you can come up with a way to describe how you'd
like to see it work, I'd recommend you to argue it on the
upstream mailing list.

I guess this is because of bug #702935 and should hopefully be resolved
in newer upstream releases.

Do you agree with my assessment that this bug can be closed once we get
the new upstream release in the archive?

Bug#752128: mate-desktop-environment doesn't require a display manager

Dear Maintainer,

thank you, good job! ;o)

Maybe useful if mate-desktop-environment requires a display manager
(gdm/lightdm) so it can be enjoyed with no additional effort :)

Regards

G.

a desktop shell can also be used via remote desktop solutions like
X2Go or VNC.

Pulling in a display manager with the complete Xorg stack is a slight
overkill for those use cases.

To get into the delight of MATE, install one of the Debian desktop CDs
(any of those have a DM installed) and then co-install MATE.

If you want to make MATE the default session manager, run this command
as root once:

  update-alternatives --config x-session-manager

Select the number "mate-session" and be happy for the time being...

Bug#754131: [INTL:da] Danish translation of apt-listbugs

On Mon, 7 Jul 2014 22:31:23 +0100 Joe Dalton wrote:

Wonderful, thanks a lot for your fast response!

I have one doubt: does "states" translate to the Danish word
"statistik"? I am asking because

#: ../lib/apt-listbugs/logic.rb:56
msgid ""
" -S : Filter bugs by pending-state categories you want to see\n"
"[%s].\n"
msgstr ""
" -S: Filtrer fejlrapporter efter »pending-state«-kategorier,\n"
"du ønsker at se [%s].\n"

looks a bit suspicious.
Please note that the original language "states" has nothing to do with
"statistics" (which sounds like "statistik").
Please clarify whether there's a better translation.
Thanks again!

Bug#753554: qpdfview: Printing PDF with forms results in error/blank page

2014-07-07 Thread Benjamin Eltzner
Hi Vladimir, your description suggests that the problem lies in
cups-filters. Evince converts documents to PS before sending them to
cups-filters, which avoids some of the bugs related to forms. I could
open a wishlist item for an optional PS-conversion as Evince does, but I
think this would be way too much work for such a small project to
shoulder in the nearer future.

Bug#740854: xserver-xorg: Crash when switching to console or ending X-server - but only when connected via DVI

2014-07-07 Thread Stephan Lahl

Hello Maintainer, Herman, anyone else reading this,

I'm suffering from these crashes here (kwheezy) and all I could find
until now is this bug report.

Is there any fix for it?
Or is xorg the wrong package to look at and there is already a fix for
this problem somewhere else?
Does anybody know if other debian derivates, e.g. ubuntu 14.x are broken
too?
I'm looking forward for an upgrade to a workstation pool and right now
with this bug it's simply not going to happen.
(And I don't really want to switch back to vga at home anyway. I just
learned about this possible workaround reading this bug report here.)

Any ideas or hints anyone?

Thank you in advance and best wishes
Stephan Lahl

2014-07-07 Thread Wookey
+++ Debian Bug Tracking System [2014-06-26 14:24 +]:

OK, after grokking the openjdk build system somewhat (patches are not
applied to source, but to a source tarball chosen/downloaded by the
debian rules). The makefile is patched by rules to determine which
upstream patches are applied. So far as I can tell there is no rule to
unpack and patch these sources (such as hotspot) without building
them?

It seems that patches/aarch64-flush_icache_stub.patch was applied to
hotspot, but patches/aarch64-save_sp_regs.patch was not.

Tracked down to missing newline in debian/patches/icedtea-patch.diff
(I think, still running tests - they take ages!)

patch attached. Will confirm success failure later, but it looks likely.

Bug#754041: "apt-get build-dep " no longer secure when cwd=/tmp

2014-07-07 Thread David Kalnischkies
On Sun, Jul 06, 2014 at 11:49:26PM +0200, Jakub Wilk wrote:
> # apt-get build-dep nyancat

Even if we ignore security for a moment I am not a fan of this syntax as
it is too suprising for me. I think I would be happier if this would
always require a relative/absolute path rather than just a directory
name ala: apt-get build-dep ./nyancat

(aka: at least one / in the pkgname before a file lookup is attempt. And
a message like those for regex/glob if it matched anything)

This also 'solves' the security problem by letting the user decide how
secure she wants to be.

(I haven't looked at the code though, yet)

Bug#753941: libapt-pkg4.12: segfaults at debListParser::NewVersion

2014-07-07 Thread David Kalnischkies

Control: severity -1 important

Hi,

> Package: libapt-pkg4.12

Thanks for the report!

These bugs are traditionally hard to tackle as they are hard to
reproduce (if at all possible). They depend on the order of sources.list
entries and the contents of the files downloaded as a result of that.
I am therefore downgrading a bit as this will resolve itself very very
likely with the next 'apt-get update'. Alternatively the posted
workaround works just as well. (and because you can hit it with any
version of apt from the last four years – so an RC-bugs would at the
most discourage people from upgrading to a security fix we had
recently…)

That said, I happen to know what is wrong this time as I saw it while
rewriting this codearea for a (still unfinished… damn) experimental
branch, which should have been public weeks ago… anyway, the simple fix
is in our debian/sid branch now waiting for the next upload.

As a (very) small reward for reporting this issue: The workaround will
actually make apt's cache generation slightly faster and is totally
harmless (if you don't happen to use insane high values, the equivalent
of 100MB should be enough, the current default is ~25MB). It is "very
small" though as it is probably not measurable…

Technical background:
In the dark ages (=before squeeze) if the cache was too small apt would
just error out ("mmap ran out of room"). In many many iterations
I worked on making the cache generation relocatable at runtime, so that
we can grow the underlying mmap by moving to a different address (as
growing but keeping the address is unlikely to work). We can't just
increase the cache size by default as on embedded devices we would eat
a good part of the available RAM this way… really bad if the kernel
OOM-killer is triggered…

The offender here is the line:
Ver->Section = UniqFindTagWrite("Section");

So the compiler figures out the storage location (Ver->Section), then
it calculates the value (return value of the function call) and stores
the value at the storage location – just that this is the old location
as the function call could potentially move the mmap… segfault.

So the solution is something like:
tempvalue = UniqFindTagWrite("Section");
Ver->Section = tempvalue;

Seems trivial, right? It is also the reason why regardless of how hard
you try to find all these instances, one or two are always slipping
through (but after 4 years, there can't be that many left, right? ;) )

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

Bug#738573: [Pkg-ipsec-tools-devel] Bug#738573: Bug#738573: Add IPv6 IP address support to X509 certificates in subjectAltName

2014-07-07 Thread Matt Grant
Hi!

You should be able to identify parts of the functionality - like the
config file parser, and then there will other bits in the X509 code, to
do with verifications, and subject Alt-name parsing.

Have to remember that IPv6 address can be written different ways and in
binary be the same thing. Use the getaddrinfo() function to convert to
binary for comparison.

Hopefully that gives at taxonomy of what you are looking for in the CVS
jumble patch.

Cheers,

Matt Grant

thanks, talking with mjw I think this is reasonable. however for debian
multiarch cross builds this header is seen on any cross build, even if it
shouldn't. I think the correct solution will be to keep system-tap-sdt-dev
architecture dependant and to ship the sdt.h headers on any arch.

Actually this one is even easier to fix - since krb5-doc is an arch:all
package, it will not be built in arch-only builds on the buildds, and it
will not be built in a bootstrap build at all; the architecture-independent
packages are taken from the Debian archive as-is. Thus, the fact that
doxygen is only needed for the build of the arch:all packages means that it
may safely be moved to B-D-I.

So what do you think about the attached patch that does exactly that -
moves doxygen to B-D-I? It's also available at
https://gitorious.org/roam-debian-bootstrap/krb5-debian/commits/roam-indep

I've also attached a new version of the patch that adds build-time
support for the "stage1" build profile (no yet) that
has been rebased onto the new version of the master branch; it is also
available from
https://gitorious.org/roam-debian-bootstrap/krb5-debian/commits/roam-stage1-build-3
I'll send the full control profile syntax one to the other bug right
away.

Thanks for looking into this!

G'luck,
Peter

Subject: [PATCH] A first try at adding stage1 support.

In stage 1, remove the libldap2-dev build dependency as outlined in
the "feedback arc set" section of http://bootstrap.debian.net/amd64/

While building, check the DEB_BUILD_PROFILES variable for "stage1" and,
if found, disable the LDAP functionality and skip the LDAP-related parts
of the build and installation.

Bug#731415: unrar-free is dead upstream and completely useless

2014-07-07 Thread Ying-Chun Liu (PaulLiu)
Hi,

What we really need is another script that mimic the unrar interface.
unar provides "lsar" and "unar" command for listing and extracting.
lsar can also outputs json format for programs to parse.
Someone whould really work on this.

BTW, I'm about to upload a new version of unrar-free to use unar to
extract RAR 3.0 format. But it is merely an workaround.
New programs should use "lsar" and "unar", or a script that uses these
commands.

Yours,
Paul

Bug#754134: trafficserver: add support for ppc64el

2014-07-07 Thread Breno Leitao
Package: trafficserver
Version: 4.1.2-1.2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: debian-powe...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ppc64el

Dear maintainer,

I would like to have this patch included in order to add support for ppc64el in
the trafficserver package. Currently it fails with this build log.

http://ftp.unicamp.br/pub/ppc64el/debian/buildd-upstream/build_logs/logs/trafficserver_5.0.0-1_ppc64el.build

The barriers definition, all using the 'sync' word come from the Linux kernel
file arch/powerpc/include/asm/barrier.h

I am also sending the same patch to trafficserver upstream (in JIRA). As soon
as it get merged, I will comment in this bug.

Thank you,
Breno

Bug#748694: sys/sdt.h is architecture specific, and causing issues on unsupported architectures

2014-07-07 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
> Which architectures don't need it? Any architecture that support glibc
> and gdb for example benefits from having sdt markers available.

Mark is right.

It seems it is never enough to repeat this, but should not
be related to SystemTap. GDB makes a strong use of this header file,
and as a matter of fact, GDB even implemented the support for userspace
SDT probes on ARM *before* SystemTap did. And I did not have to change
anything on .

By reading the backlog of this bug, I see that the main problem seems to
be the use of "arch:all" for this package (I am not considering the
initial "bug" that was not a bug after all). I am not a Debian
maintainer, so I will not try to convince people (or doko, in this case)
of the contrary. However, making available only on the
architectures supported by SystemTap is bad for GDB, and I can provide a
list of reasons if you want.

My request, then, is that you make this package available to the
architectures where GDB is available.

I hope you find this reasonable.

Thanks,

In the light of #751207, I think we should guard our verbose settings
by checking $ENV{DH_VERBOSE}, so that buildds can set it but we don't
get the verbose output during "normal" builds.

And yes, then we still have the failures in some packages …

Bug#754135: trafficserver: run dh-autoreconf to update config.{sub, guess} and {libtool, aclocal}.m4

2014-07-07 Thread Breno Leitao

Version: 4.1.2-1.2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: debian-powe...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ppc64el
User: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: autoreconf

Dear Maintainer,

Currently this package FTBFS when compiled in new architectures (as ppc64el)
that is not supported on the outdated package autotools files, mainly because
it fails to understand that the new architectures has support for shared
libraries, as shown below:

http://ftp.unicamp.br/pub/ppc64el/debian/buildd-upstream/build_logs/logs/trafficserver_5.0.0-1_ppc64el.build

I created this patch that call autoreconf to updates the autotool files during
the build, as suggest by the following wiki:

https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS#A2014-01-21_using_dh-autoreconf_during_the_build

I tested it on ppc64el and, together with the patch attached in bug#754132, the
build and the tests are sucessful.

Thank you,
Breno

Bug#707341: Q: Python 2 vs Python 3 and wxgtk2.8 vs wxgtk3.0

2014-07-07 Thread Karsten Hilbert
Hi all,

I am upstream for a Python application:

http://wiki.gnumed.de

which is packaged in Debian:

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=gnumed-client

and maintained:

http://blends.debian.org/med/tasks/practice

by the Debian Med Team:

https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-med/

GNUmed (an Electronic Medical Record System) runs under
Python 2 with wxPython 2.8 and it Depends: on python-uno.
Recently a bug was filed against GNUmed because python-uno is
likely to go away in favour of python3-uno (which is reasonable):

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=707341

The bug suggested we port GNUmed to Python 3 "ASAP". Now, the
"P"ossible part of ASAP is the problem:

Since ATM there does not exist either a python3-wxgtk2.8 nor
a python3-wxgtk3.0 we simply CANNOT port AND have GNUmed run
under Debian ...

I have searched the web and this list's archive for hints on
how Debian plans to handle this situation - it will apply to
quite a few packages, not just GNUmed. The only reference to
a python3-wxgtk I have been able to come up with is here:

https://packages.debian.org/sid/python/python3-serial

_From an upstream point of view it would be much preferrable to
have available a python3-wxgtk2.8 because that would not
force us to port to BOTH Python 3 AND wxPython 3 at the same
time.

What's the current Debian position ?

Thanks,
Karsten

Paul Gevers wrote:

Thanks very much, but... this package shouldn't have been uploaded...
As the release team have given green light for the transition, any
uploads not fixing RC bugs are likely to disrupt it.

In this case, lusernet.app depends on pantomime so that should have
been rebuilt/uploaded first. Also, gnustep-base/gui are not yet built
on all architectures and because the package doesn't have an explicit
dependency on the newer GNUstep libraries, it'll need additional
binNMUs. Not a big problem, just adds to their workload.

I think lusernet.app will be kicked out of testing anyway because of
the pantomime RC bug, but that wouldn't have happened if the fixed
pantomime package was uploaded. But OTOH, as I renamed pantomime1.2
back to pantomime, it'll have to pass through the NEW queue. Kinda
messy.

Will do. IIRC Andrew has assigned his whole icon work to GNUstep/FSF,
I'll have to check.

2014-07-07 Thread Benedict Verhegghe
I created new packages pyformex/0.9.1-1 dealing with the remarks of
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=750592#47

All changes since 0.8.6-4 are now gathered in 0.9.1-1 changelog.
All lintian errors fixed.
Previous versions deleted from mentors.
Changed the bug title to reflect the new package version.

Now it's just waiting for a sponsor.
To access further information about this package, please visit the
