Bug#547368: libcatalyst-modules-perl FTBFS

2009-09-19 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
retitle 547368 libcatalyst-modules-perl: FTBFS: tests for Catalyst-View-Mason
fail
thanks

Hi,

from the upstream changelog for Catalyst-View-Mason:

  0.18Sat, 22 Aug 2009 21:17:52 +0200
 - Make it work with Catalyst::Runtime 5.80010.
 - Fix warnings in the test suite.

libcatalyst-modules-perl ships version 0.17, so it probably needs to be
updated.

Regards,
Ansgar

Bug#547186: g15daemon: Random crashes

2009-09-19 Thread Johann Glaser
Am Freitag, den 18.09.2009, 12:55 +0200 schrieb Giacomo A. Catenazzi:
Could you check in /var/log/syslog, if at the time of the crash
 there is some additional information?

The daemon is terminated with SIGKILL, and this signal should
not be caused by the daemon itself (SEGSEGV, SIGILL, SIGBUS, etc.
 are delivered for internal errors).

So I think an external program/setting will send such signals,
on passing some limits or with invalid permissions.
So I expect ulimits, acct, selinux, etc to send the signal.

No, there is no additional info in syslog, not from g15daemon and not
from any other program or setting, except the announcement of the new
keyboard

kernel: [ 175.245228] input: G15 Extra Keys as /devices/virtual/input/input7

but this comes directly after the start of g15daemon, not before its
crash.

I don't have selinux or acct running, neither do I set special ulimits
for any program.

That could mean any number of things. Without more information (start
with your X log and output of xrandr --verbose before/after using
krandrtray) there's nothing we can do.

The problem is that changing resolution go to previous setting without
interaction of user after 15 second

But merging the two output (do not know the english name but it is applying
the same resolution to both screen) does not fall back automatically. I could
go back to logon doing a ctl+alt+backspace.

Will try to debug monday

Bastien

So I guess that you installed 0.3-1 and then 0.3-1 but never
upgraded since then? I wonder if I should relax the condition when
the left-over fails should be deleted... in all cases a failing remove
(postrm) of 0.3-1 can't be prevented, as it's already present (if
installed)...

The fix code after postinst of 0.3-1 passes looks like this:

# policy files that were not removed in 0.3~svn.r90520-1 to 0.3-1 upgrade
if [ $1 = configure ] dpkg --compare-versions $2 = 0.3-2; then
if [ -f
/usr/share/cli-common/packages.d/policy.0.2.Mono.Addins.installcligac ]; then
echo Removing forgotten GAC policy file: Mono.Addins 0.2...
/usr/share/cli-common/policy-remove Mono.Addins 0.2
fi
if [ -f
/usr/share/cli-common/packages.d/policy.0.2.Mono.Addins.Setup.installcligac ];
then
echo Removing forgotten GAC policy file: Mono.Addins.Setup
0.2...
/usr/share/cli-common/policy-remove Mono.Addins.Setup 0.2
fi
fi

The bug is only triggered when mono-gac is upgraded after 0.3-1 was
installed.

I am not totally happy with the solution because there are cases where
it will still fail, like in your case. Do you think there is a better
way to solve this?

package netbase) it is possible to change it like chown in the
attached patch. Other wise it makes no sense to choose network
environment. After patching the initscript insserv must be invoked
(which should postinstall as well).

Package: python-glpk
Version: 0.1.16-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The version of python-glpk currently in unstable compiles fine but fails
with the current libglpk0 (4.36-2):

$ cd examples/
$ python example.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File example.py, line 1, in module
import glpk
File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/glpk.py, line 26, in module
from glpkpi import *
File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/glpkpi.py, line 7, in module
import _glpkpi
ImportError: /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/_glpkpi.so: undefined
symbol:_glp_lib_print_hook

The problem comes from the fact that the upstream authors removed the some
_glp_lib_* symbols from the API of GLPK since version 4.30, without changing
the library SONAME. He justified doing that [1] because those routines have
never been advertised as being part of the API before and were exported in
libglpk0 by mistake.

The new usptream version of python-glpk, 0.1.36, works fine with libglpk0
4.36-2. Please, upgrade the package to this new version. BTW, the package
is in a quite bad shape, with lots of Lintian warnings. If you wish, I can
fix the problems and upload a new package, on the behalf of the DPMT.

Thanks,

Rafael Laboissiere

Bug#547408: rhythmbox: sid/i386 binaries require experimental libsoup

2009-09-19 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.12.5-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

RB 0.12.5-1 was uploaded to sid, but the i386 maintainer build requires
libsoup-gnome2.4-1 (= 2.27.92) and libsoup2.4-1 (= 2.27.92), which are
only satisfiable in experimental. Versions produced by the buildds (so far
that's alpha and amd64) are fine, since they only depend on sid versions
of libsoup.

Please build packages for sid in a clean sid environment, even if you're using
some experimental packages yourself; pbuilder, sbuild and schroot are useful
for this. http://www.pseudorandom.co.uk/2008/sbuild-dm/ explains the setup
I use.

Regards,
Simon

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail. Possible
solutions are to have the two packages conflict, to rename the common
file in one of the two packages, or to remove the file from one
package and have this package depend on the other package. File
diversions or a Replace relation are another possibility.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!

Bug#547430: util-linux: depends on lower priority package install-info

2009-09-19 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.16.1-2
Severity: serious

Your package erroneously depends on install-info, a package that is not
and should not be required. Please change that dependency to
dpkg (= 1.15.4) | install-info.

Since you're already build-depending on debhelper, using dh_installinfo
will insert that for you if you use ${misc:Depends}. And please remove
the manually inserted calls to install-info from your maintainer scripts
as well.

Bug#547436: pidgin-data: unavailable previous version in lenny-backports makes install of pidgin impossible

2009-09-19 Thread J . M . Escartín
Package: pidgin-data
Version: 2.6.2-1~bpo50+1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The present lenny-backports version of the pidgin-data package is
2.6.2-1~bpo50+1. However, the lenny-backports pidgin packages for all archs.
but ia64 and powerpc (2.5.9-1~bpo50+1) have the followind pidgin-data version
dependencies requirements:

dep: pidgin-data ( 2.5.9-z) [not ia64, powerpc]
dep: pidgin-data (= 2.5.9) [not ia64, powerpc]

These dependencies can be met neither from lenny nor from lenny-backports. It
is therefore impossible to install pidgin from lenny-backports at the moment.
Until 2.6.2-1~bpo50+1 version of pidgin moves to lenny-backports, I think that
version 2.5.9-1~bpo50+1 of pidgin-data should be made available for all these
architectures.

Thanks,

Package: libnauty-dev
Version: 2.4~b7-1
Severity: serious
Justification: maintainer assessment

This binary package should be held out of testing for now as packages
linking against libnauty either silently link to the static library or
FTBFS. The fix is easy, and done in git, but it will probably take a
few more days to get tested and uploaded.

Bug#547351: l7-filter-userspace: [FTBFS] 'nfct_sprintf_protocol' was not declared

2009-09-19 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Alan Woodland awoodl...@debian.org, 2009-09-18, 21:51:

Justification: Policy 5.8.2

My copy of Debian Policy does not have such a section:

$ zgrep -cF 5.8.2 /usr/share/doc/debian-policy/policy.txt.gz
0

With the new version of libnetfilter-conntrack these functions seem to
have been removed entierly, and the build now fails:

l7-conntrack.cpp: In function 'int sprintf_conntrack_key(char*,
nfct_conntrack*, unsigned int)':
l7-conntrack.cpp:129: error: 'nfct_sprintf_protocol' was not declared in this
scope
...

That looks very bad.
*Lots* of code that l7-f-u relied on was removed from the library.

Version: 1.3-1

Hi,

The releaseforge rules file contains the following:

dh_pysupport
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/login.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/mainWindow.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/python24/base64.py

With the upcoming version of python-support (currently in experimental),
such statements will make the package FTBFS, since the files are now
moved to a different directory (/usr/share/pyshared).

I suggest to do these things before the dh_pysupport call, and from the
standard installation directory:

chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/login.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/mainWindow.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/python24/base64.py
dh_pysupport

As a general rule, please do not rely on the internals of python-support
in the packaging; this will avoid such issues in the future (although
hopefully there won’t be a need to change the paths any further).

Thanks,

You filled the bug http://bugs.debian.org/517304 in Debian BTS
against the package releaseforge. I'm closing it at *unstable*, but it will
remain open for older distributions.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/523533. That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed and suggestions of possible replacements.

Package: releaseforge
Version: 1.3-1

Hi,

The releaseforge rules file contains the following:

dh_pysupport
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/login.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/mainWindow.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/share/python-support/releaseforge/ReleaseForge/python24/base64.py

With the upcoming version of python-support (currently in experimental),
such statements will make the package FTBFS, since the files are now
moved to a different directory (/usr/share/pyshared).

I suggest to do these things before the dh_pysupport call, and from the
standard installation directory:

chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/login.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/mainWindow.py
chmod +x
debian/releaseforge/usr/lib/python*/site-packages/ReleaseForge/python24/base64.py
dh_pysupport

As a general rule, please do not rely on the internals of python-support
in the packaging; this will avoid such issues in the future (although
hopefully there won’t be a need to change the paths any further).

Thanks,

Or not.
Doesn't work in a cowbuilder chroot unless a time daemon is running

I guess we should just disable the test.

Bug#547351: l7-filter-userspace: [FTBFS] 'nfct_sprintf_protocol' was not declared

2009-09-19 Thread Alan Woodland
2009/9/19 Jakub Wilk uba...@users.sf.net:
 * Alan Woodland awoodl...@debian.org, 2009-09-18, 21:51:

 Justification: Policy 5.8.2

My copy of Debian Policy does not have such a section:

 $ zgrep -cF 5.8.2 /usr/share/doc/debian-policy/policy.txt.gz
 0

Whoops, not sure where that came from! How about 4.9 instead? That
pretty much covers debian/rules making packages.

With the new version of libnetfilter-conntrack these functions seem to
have been removed entierly, and the build now fails:

 l7-conntrack.cpp: In function 'int sprintf_conntrack_key(char*,
 nfct_conntrack*, unsigned int)':
l7-conntrack.cpp:129: error: 'nfct_sprintf_protocol' was not declared in
 this scope
 ...

 That looks very bad.
*Lots* of code that l7-f-u relied on was removed from the library.

If it was deprecated there must be a recommended alternative surely?
Are upstream likely to fix this in the near future? Might be worth
asking the libnetfilter-conntrack for advice?

Do you want to package the kernel module instead? (or do you want me
to take a look at doing it?)

Alan

Bug#547463: nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx: cannot install because of conflicts with current X.org and Linux kernel

2009-09-19 Thread John Lindgren
Package: nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx
Version: 96.43.07-2
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

This about says it all:

xserver-xorg-core conflicts with xserver-xorg-video-2 [provided by
nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx 96.43.07-2]
--\ The following actions will resolve this dependency:
  - Remove xserver-xorg-core [2:1.6.3-1+b1 (testing, now)]

  - Cancel the installation of nvidia-glx-legacy-96xx

nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-2.6.26-2-686 depends upon
linux-image-2.6.26-2-686
--\ The following actions will resolve this dependency:
  - Cancel the installation of nvidia-kernel-legacy-96xx-2.6.26-2-686

The system in question is a Dell Latitude C840 with an NVidia GeForce4
440 Go. It was lately updated from Lenny to Squeeze, and now it is
impossible to use the accelerated NVidia drivers (nv works, but much
more slowly).

Setting severity to grave because the package cannot be installed,
period.

Regards,
John Lindgren

This answer is buggy: the hppa package also contains nothing:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/hppa/gcj-jre/filelist lists:

/usr/share/doc/gcj-jre

(which is just the symbolic link). According to the answer I got on
the debian-user list, this is the description that is incorrect. It
should be updated to say that this package is a dependency package.

but that is no longer truth.
for this i had to go to

download it and run /usr/lib/openoffice/program/unopkg add dict-uk_UA-1.5.7.oxt
it would be cool if l10n-* packages included those extensions and added them

Package: pidgin-data
Version: 2.6.2-1~bpo50+1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The present lenny-backports version of the pidgin-data package is
2.6.2-1~bpo50+1. However, the lenny-backports pidgin packages for all archs.
but ia64 and powerpc (2.5.9-1~bpo50+1) have the followind pidgin-data version
dependencies requirements:

dep: pidgin-data ( 2.5.9-z) [not ia64, powerpc]
dep: pidgin-data (= 2.5.9) [not ia64, powerpc]

These dependencies can be met neither from lenny nor from lenny-backports. It
is therefore impossible to install pidgin from lenny-backports at the moment.
Until 2.6.2-1~bpo50+1 version of pidgin moves to lenny-backports, I think that
version 2.5.9-1~bpo50+1 of pidgin-data should be made available for all these
architectures.

Thanks,

I just got bitten by this myself.

I have to say that this *is* a bug -- a perfectly legal MySQL
configuration file for 5.0 causes the 5.1 server to crash in such a way
as to prevent the upgrade process from finishing.
