varias particiones swap

2001-04-02 Thread Gustavo Gonzalez

Hola, grupo
Tengo un problemilla con una máquina de un amigo que tiene instalado un
debian con núcleo 2.2.16 y hay un programa (de microbiología) que
necesita un swap de alrededor de 1G. Yo he hecho 8 particiones de

 correctamente. :-(

Prueba a instalar apsfilter

dispone de los drivers uniprint que van muy bien para epson stylus color
printers. Uno general que va bien con todos es el stcany.

Cuando quieras correrlo haz como root (creo recordar)

cd /usr/lib/apsfilter/

y luego ./SETUP

y sigue las indicaciones pede litterae :)

Re: lprng from slink (Debian 2.1) so secure can't use it!!!

1999-03-09 Thread Gustavo Gonzalez
You are absolutely wright! I just downgrade to hamm for the same problem. I
could
print in text mode only, but I think the problem was not due to permission
mistakes.
Anyway I will stop the upgrade to slink to total defrozen.

I just upgraded from hamm to slink. I have found one problem with the
upgrade in the lprng package. I downgraded to the hamm version until
such time as it gets fixed. Basically after installing the new
version, I could not print due to some time of permissions error. I
have the standard lpd.conf and lpd.perms files as defined by Debian.

Re: lprng and slink

1999-03-09 Thread Gustavo Gonzalez
Yes, my problem would a bit more obscured by the fact of gs conflicts with
magicfilter. I am able to print plain text docs. However, HTML, ps and pdf
formats
cannot be prited without serious errors. Thus I prefer to wait for the slink
release
in CD. I am using now other distributions (OpenLinux 1.3, SuSE 6.0, Slackware
3.6)
without any printing problem.

Gustavo

Just a question for both parties concerned here, did you remember to
change your printer setup over to the new lp* format?

Slink has removed lp0 and replaced it with lp1 (I believe that's the way
it is), anyway I first off could not print under slink until I had a look
at the new config file, and realised it had hosed my configuration for my
printer, and also changed the printer port... but it's working great now
that I've changed the printer port to the new settings.

Actually I've just remembered, the new kernel version (2.2.1 is what I'm
running) is the thing that changed the lp port... geez, have to remember
these things else I'll be considered a fool... (though that isn't hard for
people who have actually met me) grin.

 Peter Ludwig

SB16PnP doesn't work

1999-09-10 Thread Gustavo Gonzalez
Hi to all,

I turned to Debian recently. I installed Debian 2.1 (slink) with the
stable kernel 2.0.36 (and I didn't upgrade it to 2.2.x) and it works
fine to my purposes (math computations and multivariate analysis). I
installed my printer and configured my internet connection by modem via
kppp (KDE) wiithout problems. However I cannot get sound from my sound
card. I have a typical Creative SB16 PnP. I tried isapnptools to
suitable configure it without success. I though about disabling the BIOS
PnP option , but I prefer to send this query to the group befor acting.
Would someone help me please? Ay ideas?

Thank you in advance

Re: Printer advice

1999-09-13 Thread Gustavo Gonzalez
Hi, Christian
I think the series Epson Stylus Color exhibit several models at nice prices.
After
installing recode and magicfilter and using magicfilterconfig after deleting the
current /etc/printcap file and the /var/spool/lpd/lp directory which are
created by
default, the installation is very smart.

 Hi,

I need to purchase a printer for my Debian box. Of course I want one
that will be easy to install and run from Linux without problems.

Please advice when it comes to purchasing an ink printer in the $150-200
 class.

 TIA
