Bug#628848: RM libpam-unix2

2016-09-17 Thread Adrian Bunk
reassign 628848 ftp.debian.org
retitle 628848 RM: libpam-unix2 -- RoQA; orphaned, dead upstream, not in
stable, broken
thanks

The feature pam_unix2 has on top of pam_unix is Blowfish support,
but the package is compiled without Blowfish support since 2013
(see #729813 for details).

The package is not in stable, orphaned, dead upstream, and as better
solution it is now possible to use SHA-256/512 with crypt(3).

Bug#692105: Removing c-cpp-reference from Debian?

2016-09-17 Thread Adrian Bunk
Hi,

I would like to get an opinion from you as maintainers of KDevelop
on removal of c-cpp-reference from Debian.

It seems to be a 15-20 year old reference for KDevelop that comes from
http://kdevelop.org

Does it make any sense for KDevelop today?

If yes, kdevelop should suggest it and you should consider adopting it.

If no, I would suggest removal from Debian:
After a quick look at the C part there are tutorial parts that are
still useful today, but there are many (including better) tutorials
available online.

Thanks
Adrian

Please work together when re-adding OpenVAS to Debian.

It will likely *not* make sense to have different people maintain
different parts of OpenVAS - this should be one team working
together on all packages.

Bug#692105: Removing c-cpp-reference from Debian?

Considering the times the kdevelop.org website has changed since that
guide was picked, I really doubt it can be found anywhere else.

It seems updated last in KDE 3 times at best, and I I'm pretty sure
recent versions of kdevelop don't even know about it. So no, it does
not make sense, especially ...

... because of this.

Bug#838070: ITP: eagle -- Haplotype phasing within a genotyped cohort or using a phased reference panel

2016-09-17 Thread Dylan
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Dylan Aïssi

Package name: bio-eagle
URL: https://data.broadinstitute.org/alkesgroup/Eagle/
License: GPL3+
Description: Haplotype phasing within a genotyped cohort or using a
phased reference panel
 Eagle estimates haplotype phase either within a genotyped cohort or using a
 phased reference panel. The basic idea of the Eagle1 algorithm is to harness
 identity-by-descent among distant relatives—which is pervasive at very large
 sample sizes but rare among smaller numbers of samples—to rapidly call phase
 using a fast scoring approach. In contrast, the Eagle2 algorithm analyzes a
 full probabilistic model similar to the diploid Li-Stephens model used by
 previous HMM-based methods.

Description-en: IMAP protocol proxy
 UP-ImapProxy proxies IMAP transactions between an IMAP client and an IMAP
 server. The general idea is that the client should never know that it is
 not talking to the real IMAP server, but ImapProxy caches server connections.
 .
 ImapProxy was written to compensate for webmail clients that are unable to
 maintain persistent connections to an IMAP server. Most webmail clients
 need to log in to an IMAP server for nearly every single transaction; This
 behaviour can cause tragic performance problems on the IMAP server.
 ImapProxy tries to deal with this problem by leaving server connections
 open for a short time after a webmail client logs out. When the webmail client
 connects again, ImapProxy will determine if there is a cached connection
 available and reuse it if possible.

Bug#838128: ITP: tmsp -- the Tendermint Socket Protocol

2016-09-17 Thread Alessio Treglia
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Alessio Treglia

* Package name: tmsp
  Version : Git snapshot
  Upstream Author : the Tendermint project
* URL : http://www.tendermint.com
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Go
  Description : Tendermint Socket Protocol

TMSP is a socket protocol enabling a blockchain consensus
engine, running in one process, to manage a blockchain
application state, running in another.

Blockchains are a system for creating shared multi-master
application state. If one wanted to create a Bitcoin-like
system on top of TMSP, Tendermint Core would be
responsible for:

- Sharing blocks and transactions between nodes
- Establishing a canonical/immutable order of
  transactions (the blockchain)

The application will be responsible for:

- Maintaining the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) database
- Validating cryptographic signatures of transactions
- Preventing transactions from spending non-existent
  transactions
- Allowing clients to query the UTXO database.

I'm planning to maintain this under the Debian Go
packaging team's umbrella.

Bug#838101: ITP: python-azure -- Microsoft Azure SDK for Python

2016-09-17 Thread Iain R. Learmonth
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Iain R. Learmonth"

* Package name: python-azure
  Version : 2.0.0
  Upstream Author : Microsoft
* URL : https://github.com/lmazuel/azure-sdk-for-python
* License : MIT / Apache
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Microsoft Azure SDK for Python

This project provides a set of Python packages that make it easy to access the
Microsoft Azure components such as ServiceManagement, Storage, and ServiceBus.

-

This software is currently available via GitHub as a release candidate. I've
been playing with it and it's definitely not polished yet.

Ansible has some support for using this SDK though I've not yet managed to make
it work. I believe that the SDK has presented Ansible with a moving target
recently and that's likely the reason for the breakage.

The Git repository contains a number of Python packages, and this bug will
either be closed by packaging them all as a single source package or it will
track the progress of packaging the individual packages using PyPI as the
upstream to Debian.

This is dependent on whether or not the upstream author expects that all the
packages would be installed at the same version of if releases of packages
(in this case, PyPI uploads I guess) would happen independently of other
packages once the API is stable.

Bug#838083: ITP: metaphlan2 -- Metagenomic Phylogenetic Analysis

2016-09-17 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: metaphlan2
  Version : 2.6.0
  Upstream Author : Duy Tin Truong, Nicola Segata and Curtis Huttenhower
* URL : https://bitbucket.org/biobakery/metaphlan2
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Metagenomic Phylogenetic Analysis
 MetaPhlAn is a computational tool for profiling the composition of
 microbial communities (Bacteria, Archaea, Eukaryotes and Viruses) from
 metagenomic shotgun sequencing data with species level resolution. From
 version 2.0, MetaPhlAn is also able to identify specific strains (in the
 not-so-frequent cases in which the sample contains a previously
 sequenced strains) and to track strains across samples for all species.
 .
 MetaPhlAn 2.0 relies on ~1M unique clade-specific marker genes (the
 marker information file can be found at src/utils/markers_info.txt.bz2
 or here) identified from ~17,000 reference genomes (~13,500 bacterial
 and archaeal, ~3,500 viral, and ~110 eukaryotic), allowing:
 .
  * unambiguous taxonomic assignments;
  * accurate estimation of organismal relative abundance;
  * species-level resolution for bacteria, archaea, eukaryotes and
viruses;
  * strain identification and tracking
  * orders of magnitude speedups compared to existing methods.
  * metagenomic strain-level population genomics

Remark: The large dataset that is contained in the download archive was
split up into a separate package metaphlan2-data since it is shipped in
a better compressible format and also will not change that frequently as
the code. The package will be maintained by the Debian Med team at

https://anonscm.debian.org/git/debian-med/metaphlan2.git
