[Bug 492759] [NEW] Empty card reader slots still show icons in Computer:///
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs I guess this is technically a gnome upstream issue, but it's been plaguing ubuntu for a while, and as I couldn't find any open bugs, I opened this one as a reminder. Using Karmic, gvfs1.4.1-0ubuntu1, my generic 4x USB Card Reader shows up icons without media inserted. ..$ gvfs-ls computer:/// CD\DVD Drive.drive Generic- Compact Flash.drive Generic- MS\MS-Pro.drive Generic- SD\MMC.drive Generic- SM\xD-Picture.drive root.link The icons are changing correctly when cards are inserted, and they are also unmounting correctly. However it would be nice if there was a simple hack to hide the icons when they are empty, as it's kinda klunky and makes using nautilus Computer:/// a chore to use.. especially when I have other USB media mounted. (I usually go straight for a link to /media now, but that can get messy too) ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Empty card reader slots still show icons in Computer:/// https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492759 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I seem to have a related problem, but not quite the same. NumLock worked fine on my prior USB keyboard (Inland Multimedia and Office keyboard M/N: MC855692) until last week. All of a sudden, *nothing* would make the number pad work again. I don't recall if this was right after an update or not. Thinking that it was the keyboard, I purchased a new USB keyboard (CaseLogic KWD-100). Sadly, I still can't use the number pad. Since I use it *all* the time, what can I do to fix the issue? [Bug 491245] Re: Jaunty - Open home folder Toolbar opens other program
Hi Pedro Sorry about delay... I had it all written up then launchpad went down for maintenance before I posted it! 1) Click on toolbar "Places" (Applications - Places - System) in Ubuntu 9.04 2) click on Home folder to go direct to my documents etc... this opens a small mini window - loading something then it stalls. at this point the Amarok 2 icon appears on the bar (my defaults for Amarok) 3) as a result I try to open Amarok 2 from the bar icon - however this fails to work - and right click menu as well. So I go to system monitor to force quit Amarok "Kill the selected process? Only unresponding process should be killed" Well it's not working so... :) That's it Thanks for any leads that may have caused this instability. -- Jaunty - Open home folder Toolbar opens other program https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 426329] Re: Rhythmbox fails to display cover image from id3 tag
I'm curious before opening another bug. I have Rhythmbox 0.12.5 with Karmic, and it does display cover art (so far) from mp3s but if there is more than one image in there, it doesn't select the one marked as "cover (front)" by EasyTag. For instance, I may have an image of the back of the CD with the songs listed, and also one of the cover. The back may be listed as "leaflet" or even "cover (back)" but the front is "cover (front)". These are presets in Easytag, so I'm assuming they are standard and exist to tell the client which image to use (assumption, I know), but Rhythmbox seems to get confused when more than one exists. Does 0.12.6 deal with this as well? -- Rhythmbox fails to display cover image from id3 tag https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426329 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 492689] [NEW] GDM does not honor system keyboard layout
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm (Yes, there are a few similar bugs, but they are all much more special.) After upgrading to karmic, GDM breaks my keyboard configuration within X. My layout is (as always) specified in /etc/default/console-setup, exported to HAL and understand correctly by X. (Therefore any session started by startx, xdm, etc. works fine.) However, GDM ignores that layout completely and forces(!) me to choose one of "its" layouts, which then is used for entering my password and for the whole GNOME session afterwards. - This forces me after each login to do a "reset to defaults" to get my configured layout back. Please add an "system default" option, which just leaves the layout alone, like e.g. xdm does. This should be no much work and should solve some of the other bugs, too. (My current workaround is replacing GDM by XDM, but that's not very nice either, since GNOME depends at a few places on GDM, like when locking the screen.) ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- GDM does not honor system keyboard layout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492689 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 431146] Re: Gnome Power Manager fails to put display to sleep
There is another unexpected behavior that I forgot to mention. If I turn on the laptop with the battery plugged, in the power management preferences, there are three tabs: On AC Power; On Battery Power; and General. However, if I turn on the laptop without the battery attached, I can only see two tabs: On AC Power and General. This is not completely absurd. But, if I plug the battery with the computer on, it still show only the two tabs: On AC Power and General. And even if I then unplug the AC power and use only the battery power, I continue to see only the same two tabs in the power management preferences. I don't know if this is related with the problem reported or if it is a new and independent problem.
