[Bug 410407] Re: Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION]

2010-05-06 Thread Evan Martin
I am the Chromium developer who fixed this again.

Not that anyone cares anymore, but: the problem was that Flash breaks if
GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS isn't set.
The first fix was to set that in our plugin process before starting Flash.

However, GTK clears the environment variable after initializing. So
with nspluginwrapper we would set the variable, initialize GTK, and then
call into the plugin (nspluginwrapper), which would then spawn its
helper process which then would run Flash without the variable set.

So as of today's release of Chrome we set the variable, initialize GTK,
and then immediately set the variable again before calling into the
plugin.

It seems Firefox may have this second bug as well.
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=15232 If I remember tomorrow
I will attempt to track down that bug in their bug tracker again.

Hi,

I tried adding the missing .service file mentioned in the upstream bug report
myself, but I'm still having trouble using the keyring. If I run seahorse for
example with the new service file in place, I get this error:
> ** Message: secret service operation failed: Did not receive a reply.

This only happens when I use a password-less login.
If by the way I kill the gnome-keyring-daemon process started on login, then
everything works fine.

As you can see, this is easily repeatable. Where it crashes in the
course of the game seems to depend on gameplay action of certain
pattern(s) of squares being removed right after the mouseclick to make
that move.

Is this is perhaps a problem communicating with the fglrx driver? If so,
this is the only problem where the video driver may be involved that I'm
having. But I noticed the original report refers to the fglrx driver
too.

Sorry, the segfault messages are all the evidence of the crash I can
get.

@Pedro: I've updated the backtrace as you requested. Thanks for

@Malp: I do not use Evolution or have an exchange email account and I
still have the issue. The clock applet works fine for the most part; It
displays the time and I can right click and use the various items that
appear in the contextual menu. The applet hangs when I left click to
display the calender. Incidentally, I am also running Ubuntu 10.4 on my

strange.

[Bug 576774] [NEW] 'monitor standby' doesn't work in gnome-screensaver

2010-05-06 Thread Seunghoon Park

When I use 'gnome-screensaver' 2.30.0, monitor doesn't go to 'standby'.
Of course, I set proper configuration in 'gnome-screensaver' and

The reason I think this problem is related to 'gnome-screensaver' is that

[Bug 576765] [NEW] Rhythmbox indicator icon doesn't show/hide application window - usability regression

2010-05-06 Thread Mike.lifeguard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

This is the same as Bug #576762:

When the icon for Rhythmbox was displayed in the notification area in
Karmic and earlier, left-clicking it activated the default action
(show/hide main window). In Lucid, this simply displays the menu
(previously, a right-click performed this action). This is a usability
regression because the default action requires a click, a point within
the menu, and another click, where previously the same action required
only one. Please see the conversation beginning at

started up automatically, but popped up blank, didn't launch the gnome
keyring and did not have any accounts information. I added the accounts
manually, but none of my chat history from before the upgrade is
available.

my dpkg.log says that empathy was upgraded from 2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1 to
2.30.1-0ubuntu1

This is similar to Bug #469286 but my accounts stay after recreating
them. Also similar to Bug #557665, but I don't think Pidgin has
anything to do with this bug.

There's a couple of files I had Evince read that have all pages shown

only have their last pages shown. This was done on Karmic (9.10).

I've attached the working files in good-ps-documents.zip and the non-

[Bug 576753] [NEW] gnome-screensaver will only let you unlock screen with first pointer even if there are multiple pointers via MPX

2010-05-06 Thread Erik B. Andersen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Even when there are multiple pointers via MPX, the gnome-screensaver
unlock dialog will only let you enter your password with the first
pointer and keyboard pair.

To reproduce:
Using Ubuntu 10.04 and having set up MPX (there's a tutorial at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/MPX) ,
Let the screensaver turn on (you could shorten the time it takes if you don't
want to wait.)
Try to unlock the computer with the second mouse / keyboard pair.
Notice that it completely ignores the second pair, making it impossible to
unlock the screen with the second pair.
Unlock the screen with the first mouse / keyboard pair.

What I expected to happen instead:
That I would be able to unlock the screen with any MPX pointer/keyboard&mouse
pair.

[Bug 32193] Re: Evince doesn't recognize PostScript pages correctly

2010-05-06 Thread Timmy Shih Jun Yee
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 550440 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550440

Interestingly, on Karmic, the PS document Guilhem linked to is read
correctly by Evince (i.e. all 5 pages are shown correctly).

Also, I'm not able to scroll around to get to the next (or previous)
page for the PS document linked in the original description. Evince only
shows the last page and insists that it's the only page in the whole
document.

I'm going to mark this bug as a duplicate of bug 550440.

[Bug 520118] Re: thunar select freezes after using mouse to select folders ("detailed view" mode)

2010-05-06 Thread slumbergod
This is driving me crazy! I was away for four days and had no internet
and unfortunately chose that time to do a clean install of Xubuntu
Lucid. When Thunar stopped working I tried everything, even clean
installing another three times (one was for a sound bug that gave me no
sound).

For me, it seems to not matter what view the pane is in - detailed,
icons, or compact. I can do one operation then it is as though the pane
is empty. I cannot select anything or move within directories though
interestingly the breadcrumb navigation and shortcuts in the tree still
work. Even the mouse wheel lets me scroll the pane contents - I just
can't left or right click anything.

I tried changing all my permissions on my folders and files to no avail.
I tried thunar as sudo and that actually seemed to work properly until
that too stopped. I tried deleting the ~/.config/thunar config folder.
No effect, though if I do that AND reboot I am able to do maybe five
operations before it stops responding. And on some reboots I am able to
use left and right click for a few operations having done nothing at
all. It is very difficult to narrow down what the bug is but it
effectively makes thunar useless.

[Bug 576744] [NEW] Unable to modify brightness when the screen is locked

2010-05-06 Thread Alessio Bolognino
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I'm on Lucid fully updated, gnome-power-manager 2.30.0-0ubuntu1

Sometimes I find hard to unlock the screen because I can't increase the
brightness of my laptop display with multimedia keys (I think that's their
name). This is really annoying when there is no other light source in the room
and you can't literally see anything.
I would expect to be able to modify the brightness (and maybe the volume too?)
even when the screen is locked.

For the record other operating systems (e.g. MacOSX) let you do that.

[Bug 513716] Re: [lucid] battery status not detected/shown until /proc entry viewed

2010-05-06 Thread Alex Murray
@Vladimir - that doesn't sound like a bug to me - of course it will fail
to display if set to only display when charging / discharging and
battery is at 100% with AC since it *isn't* charging / discharging, it's
full. This is just the correct, expected behaviour for that setting. If
you want it to be always visible regardless of if its charging /
discharging then change that setting appropriately.

[Bug 566026] Re: MoviePlayer does not display unless at full screen

2010-05-06 Thread mprince
Same problem here as #1-- also using 10.04 full release.

VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. KM400/KN400/P4M800 [S3
UniChrome] (rev 01)
No desktop effects

If I double click on a video file, the playback is black with an
occasional flash of an image. The audio plays fine. If I move the window
using the mouse, I can see the video, but then it returns to black when
I release.

For whatever reason, the playback works fine if I launch Totem using the
Applications menu and then drag-n-drop a video file to it. There is a
small ammount of flicker when the video starts, but otherwise plays back
fine.

***This helps as a workaround***
Press Alt+F2 and run gstreamer-properties-- on the video tab, change the
default output plugin to "X Window System (No Xv)."

USB2 devices such as USB connected flash drives and Card readers have a

[Bug 558851] Re: Ubuntu X-window Restart if adjust volume while Totem playing wma file

2010-05-06 Thread songyegui
I update my Ubuntu from 9.04 to 10.04(Lucid LTS), this bug disappeared!!
Now I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 very good! Except two things:
--One is that in Lotus notes 8.5/Applications I can not input the Chinese(SCIM
or fcitx). But for other applications I can input Chinese. Note that under
Ubuntu 9.04 it's OK.
--The Other is that for my laptop(Acer 4810T) the brightness can not be
adjusted. With google-search,When I added "nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor"
parameters for grub2 config and disabple Ubuntu Lucid's appearence to "None".
Now the backlight-adjustment is OK. But Some games on Lucid runs very slowly
after adjusted the backlight. Maybe some thing is wrong with LInux's
Intel-graphic card driver on Acer 4810T laptop.
Anyway, thanks for your help!!
Thanks again!!

[Bug 555122] Re: Cannot adjust brightness in Lucid Lynx

2010-05-06 Thread Chris Jepsen
Good decision, fglrx consistently crashed my x-server in Alpha and Beta.
I was thinking the same thing as you, so I turned it back on to test the
brightness issue. (While fglrx doesnt crash the x-server anymore, it's
still got problems, I'm going to stick with the free one for now.)

Either way, the brightness issue remains with both drivers. Hope this
helps.

on idle does not work as expected:

Instead of being suspended, the machine is put into hibernation. On 9.10 (and
9.04 before it) the machine was suspended, as I expected. I do prefer the
suspend to the hibernation too.
Manually suspending the machine works.

This is a Dell Inspiron 1011 (Mini 10v).

The behaviour is both there with my regular user that went through the
upgrade (old config files) and with a newly created test user (fresh
config from a template, I assume).

[Bug 575975] Re: Unable to launch some Gnome games in 10.04 LTS

2010-05-06 Thread Enrico Rosina
Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your concern. I upgraded from an older version. It's a
long time i have Ubuntu now. Last version I used was 8.04, but i had
also older versions before.

To upgrade from 8.04, I simply used the update manager from the system
menu. I had three upgrades in a row, during the same week-end I migrated
to 9.04, then 9.10 and finally 10.04 (without really using them, I just
did one boot to see it was ok).

Now that I think of it, I am not really sure which of the games were in
the original version and which ones I installed using the applications
menu. Sorry I cannot be more accurate than that, I had to purge linux
versions because I had no place anymore in the / directory. But I am
sure I always used the Ubuntu applications menu to install them, I never
installed picking packages directly from the internet.

Have a nice evening.
Enrico

[Bug 576693] [NEW] Idea_for_screen_rotation

2010-05-06 Thread Gamlerik
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

I'm very grateful for being able to flip and rotate my screen using the
Indicator Applet.

For instance, it's nice when showing a screen to someone sitting across
from you: Flipping the screen upside down and putting down the physical
screen of the notebook is way less hassle than moving the machine.

However when leaving the 'upside-down' mode you have to move the pointer
opposite of what feels natural and that can be a little tricky the first
few times.

Therefore I suggest a checkbox that reads 'rotate mouse input' on the
dropdown meny you get by leftclicking the screen icon. Rotating the
mouse input along with the screen output would make it easier to get
back to normal viewing.

If this has been suggested already, I apologize.

[Bug 557367] Re: I can't change my nickname.

2010-05-06 Thread Matija Polajnar
Well, that's easy:
 - Install msn-pecan.
 - In empathy, add an account with msn-pecan protocol.
 - Choose "Edit - Personal data" in the menu (I'm translating that from my
language and may not be correct).
 - Edit the nickname for the newly created account, then click Close.
 - Again, open the "Personal data" dialog. The nickname is again equal to the
e-mail address. Also, in conversations the e-mail address is shown when you
send a message, not the desired nickname.

[Bug 576669] [NEW] Document Viewer has no support for common office document file formats

2010-05-06 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Working on creating some new checkbox tests and I've discovered that
evince, at least as shipped in 10.04 LTS has no support for MS Office
formats. I've tried the .xls and .doc files that are shipped in
/usr/share/example-content.

In both cases, evince opens with an error that says:

File type OLE2 compound document storage (application/x-ole-storage) is
not supported.

For kicks, I then tried .odt files and got this error:

File type OpenDocument Text (application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text) is
not supported.

Nor does it support .rtf documents:

File type RTF document (application/rtf) is not supported.

Nor does it like ods documents:

File type OpenDocument Spreadsheet
(application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet) is not supported

It DOES open odp documents. at least...

I did not have a pdf file on hand to try...

BUT, in any case, it does not seem to support ANYTHING right now beyond
Open Office Presentation files...

Re: [Bug 539396] Re: rhytmbox cannot see my iphone

2010-05-06 Thread Tim
I think I have found the issue.

Has something to do with the ~/.gvfs folder.

I deleted this folder, logged out and now its working.

perhaps having a real .gvfs folder messes up gvfs (and fuse cant mount
~/.gvfs ) and then rhythmbox cant mount the iphone in there.

In anycase this would actually be a bug with gvfs (or fuse) and not
rhythmbox?
