[Bug 601709] Re: Laptop goes to sleep right after plugging/unplugging power cord
Thanks for the continued interest in this bug. The computer that I'm writing about is my wife's school laptop; as such, I can't reload a new operating system on it during the semester (which ends in late December). Do you think it would be sufficient/helpful for me to test it using a live CD or USB drive? It took some tweaking to get Ubuntu to load on this laptop (after Karmic), including some kernel/boot options to make the video not lock up on boot (black screen). I'm pretty sure I can get it to boot and run a test, but I'd first like to know if this method of testing would be helpful. [Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly
Albert, I don't think they will *decide* not to repair the bug. It's a pretty obvious one. It still seems to affect a small number of users, though, so it might not get the priority we would like. But these sort of problems often get fixed by the next release. If you're still doing (re)installs and you would prefer Gnome, I recommend you go with 10.04. It's an LTS release and works great. I don't see what you would be missing from 10.10. It brought me nothing but trouble. I just installed KDE to see what happens when I boot into it. Everything works fine in KDE except gnome applications. Firefox and Transmission are still showing the same rendering issues, while Konqurer and all native KDE aps show properly rendered fonts and themes. Also I cannot load certain aps without them crashing. When I run Banshee for example it just crashes after loading with the KDE theme and fonts. [Bug 663950] Re: Evolution mangles certain email addresses, resulting in undeliverable messages when replying
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 258139 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258139 ** Description changed: Binary package hint: evolution Evolution mangles certain email addresses in message headers. When replying to such addresses, the resulting emails are undeliverable. When I look at the message source, the address looks correct: - To: sw.dl.Linux BG + To: sw.dl.Linux BG When I look at the message in any other view than "Message Source", I get this: - To: sw.dl.LinuxB + To: sw.dl.LinuxB The mangled email address also propagates to the CC-header when using "Reply to all" on such a message. The resulting message is undeliverable and doesn't reach the intended mailing list. I see that "sw.dl.Linux BG" should probably be in quotes because of the space. But the message got all the way to me in this form, so all the MTAs on the way deal with this gracefully. My MUA (evolution) should be able to deal with this too. I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (Lucid Lynx), x86_64 GNU/Linux 2.6.32-25-generic, with gnome-utils version 2.30.0-0ubuntu1. A workaround can be found at https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-utils/+question/89994 , i.e. simply remove the entry /var/log/btmp from the list /apps/gnome-system-log/logfiles of the log files which are opened up at startup of the log viewer (e.g. using gconf-editor). I think /var/log/btmp should generally not be part of this list, neither is /var/log/wtmp . PS: By the way, I don't really think this is a duplicate of bug #374320, because it is not related to permissions of /var/log/btmp. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 374320 Gnome System Log Complains About btmp log permissions -- System log viewer keeps displaying error message "/var/log/btmp" The file is not a regular file or not a text file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/401499 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
