2013-10-19 Thread Alexander Poddubny
@William Hua

Ctrl-Shift is working with ppa, thanks. However, I'd also like the option for
cyclic changing of the layouts :
Russian - Ctrl-Shift - English - Ctrl-Shift - Russian

Now I can change only one way, Russian-English by pressing Ctrl-Shift,
but not back. Cyclic behaviour for 2 layouts was stadrad for all systems
I've ever used, and I would appreciate it back.

[Bug 1238346] Re: on bootup wrong keyboard layout is recognized

2013-10-19 Thread Brice Terzaghi
I have the same problem since upgrade to 13.10, except that in my case
it happens randomly (so far, about once every two boots). Note thate the
problem isn't present on the login screen, only after starting Unity.
Haven't tried other DEs.

I have only one keyboard setup set, which is french (AZERTY) and when
the system starts in QWERTY, I have to manually select the french
keyboard that is already selected (and which is the only one listed) in
the new indicator that ships with 13.10.

[Bug 1241964] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon uses too much ram

2013-10-19 Thread Mark Enriquez
Public bug reported:

I was playing a game (via wine) while trying to delete my thrash, since my disk
space is getting low.
Also I used nemo for default file manager but I think It was not the problem.
After a couple of hours the ram usage rises near to its capacity. I have 2GBs
of ram. After I discovered it, terminating the process became really
difficult. The system being unresponsive, and logging in the VT shell was also
slower than molasses. Good thing I have a Terminal open and run htop which
states the gnome-settings-daemon uses about 29%+ and it continues to increase.
I ran killall gnome-settings-daemon. It did not work for the first time then
I tried to enter it a multiple times. After some minutes it was terminated and
the process again restarts but with a very low ram usage.

I can set Ctrl+Space after install ppa but my favorite Ctrl+Shift still does
not available for me ;(
When I set this combination under Unity I obtained Ctrl+Shift+Next Group. Can

Under Gnome 3 I can not set Ctrl+Shift at all.

Support is available in plasma-nm starting from version 0.9.3.1.

Please note that in order to benefit from the MM 1.0 API features, you
have to compile both libmm-qt and libnm-qt from the master branches.

Keith that workaround nearly works for me,
What I did:
Enter network details as normal using the network manager but select a random
fake certificate so the dialog is not displayed.
The connection will fail due to the fake certificate
Disable wifi
cd /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections
sudo nano SSID
Remove the lines starting with :

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-19 Thread Franko Burolo
Just installed Saucy, and I am confirming this is an issue for me, too.
I managed to set it to ctr+alt+space, which seems to be the least bad
option for me... I was always using alt+caps.

It looks like it forces you to take an alpha-numeric key for the
shortcut, which is unpractical for obvious reasons. So we are forced to
use space there, which is the only really universal cross-layout
alphanumeric key.

It is a serious regression. Especially for us language and literature
students and professionals.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-19 Thread ssy
The lastest update from PPA fix the following things for me (Note: I'm
using En+Th layout).

* Now I can use Super+Shift. It's not as easy as alt-shift but still ok.
* Alt-shift is still not working. Just notice that it captured Shift-Alt-Next
Group not Shift-AltL
* Any combination, either Super-ShiftL, or ShiftL-Super, works. Dash menu
didn't brought up so I think detection speed is fine.
* Indicator switch as it should.

Still, the Super+Number hot key stop working. It used to work in
13.04. Right now I have to switch back to En layout before
Super+Number works.

2013-10-19 Thread h1bymask
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1207812 ***

1. Works fine with iPhone 5S with iOS 7.0.1. iPhone shows the computer trust
dialog and closes it instantly without letting me do the selection. Then Ubuntu
successfully connects to the phone, and the phone file system is displayed in
Nautilus. Copying of files sometimes fails with an error though (which
disappears only after both phone PC restart).
2. Does not work with iPhone 5C with iOS 7.0.2. The symptoms are the same as in
the description.

[Bug 1214352]

2013-10-19 Thread Momonasmon
(In reply to comment #28)
 Same problem as comment 19 with Ubuntu 13.04. simply no document. 4.0.2.2
 works fine, 4.1 does not.
Hi,
Unfortunately you didn't say which LO package do you use - from PPA or from
libreoffice.org. Each of them has completely different problems.

- If you're using the packages from PPA, then the bug should be solved
with 4.1.2 (unfortunately the PPA currently stuck with 4.1.1). When it
will be updated to 4.1.2, it should work if you also install 'gvfs-
backends' and 'libreoffice-gnome' packages. That way it works with
Ubuntu 13.10.

- If you're using the packages from libreoffice.org site, then
theoretically it should work if you install 'libgnomevfs2-extra'
package. But for some reason it's not working. I can confirm that it's
not working with 4.1.2.3 under both Ubuntu 13.04 and 13.10 (64-bit).
Same happens under Fedora 19 (64-bit), as you can see from the first
paragraph of comment 26. And it's still the case for 4.1.2.3. There is
definitely some problem with the official builds.

So currently you have to apply the workaround from comment 15, or
upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10.

[Bug 1242129] [NEW] Large gray area when file is edited outside gedit

2013-10-19 Thread Saikrishna Arcot
Public bug reported:

In Saucy, when a file is opened in gedit, and that file is edited

the prompt appears multiple times, the gray area may increase and cover
half the window.

Recursively grepping for 101_qwerty in my home finds two files:

attach) and ./.config/dconf/user (blob; if you tell me which command
extracts the relevant data in text format then I'm happy to attach it).

[Bug 1234453] Re: Terminal freezes during long-running applications

2013-10-19 Thread Shannon Brown
I confirm that this still occurs with gnome-terminal and mate-terminal
in Ubuntu 13.10. Same behaviour. Virtual terminals randomly freeze
output.

Note: this does not necessarily need to be long running. The behaviour
is random and can arise in a few minutes (10 minutes today) or a few
hours (6 hours) a few days ago.

The common characteristic seems to be text output to the virtual
terminal. The terminal freezes output (that is the window stays live as
do all the menus) but the output just stops. Clicking the window or
using menu...reset resumes output.

[Bug 1232454] Re: Often automatic suspend dialog when I unlock

2013-10-19 Thread Tin Tvrtkovic
I appreciate the dialog, but it should really go away after resuming. If
we can't remove it after resuming, I'd like a way to turn it off.

Also, it has no icon in the unity launcher (so displays with a big ?),
which looks a little unpolished.

[Bug 1018718] Re: columns width redrawn by multiple events

2013-10-19 Thread Aibara Iduas
Ah, I see Alberto.

I've narrowed down the problem down to two lines in the Ambiance theme.
If lines 66 and 68 in /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/gtk-3.0/gtk-widgets.css
are deleted, the columns are perfectly stable. The two lines are:

-unico-focus-border-color: alpha (@selected_bg_color, 0.5);
-unico-focus-fill-color: alpha (@selected_bg_color, 0.1);

But that has a nasty side effect, namely an ugly pink color that appears
when selecting tabs and files in list view. No clue if this is just a
problem with Ambiance and Radiance or the Unico theme engine. I really
don't know much about themes (got this through trial and error).

[Bug 848562] Re: gnome-shell lock screen does not display password prompt

2013-10-19 Thread Richard Vieregge
I'm having this problem with:
Ubuntu 13.04
2 monitors
Intel processor, no discrete video card.

When pressing CTRL+ALT+L, the screen goes blank and moving the mouse
displays the password dialog.

However, if the screen locks due to inactivity, after moving the mouse displays
the actual desktop not the password dialog.
Clicking on the displayed winodws, etc, doesn't work, and typing my password
does unlock, so the screen saver is still active.

When locked, pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 displays the terminal login, and
pressing CTRL-ALT-F7 goes back to the gui with the password dialog now
displayed.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2013-10-19 Thread Artem Popov
On a clean Saucy install (Russian layout selected during setup) with the
attente PPA, I have the same behaviour as Valery Kozlov described in
comment #122. No matter if the switch hotkeys are enabled or disabled in
the GUI, I can still switch layouts with ALT+SHIFT.

Strangely, this layout configuration comes from keyboard-configuration
package. This is the setxkbmap output on a clean system:

~$ setxkbmap -print -verbose
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
keycodes:   evdev+aliases(qwerty)
types:  complete
compat: complete+ledscroll(group_lock)
symbols:pc+ru+us:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)
geometry:   pc(pc105)
xkb_keymap {
xkb_keycodes  { include evdev+aliases(qwerty) };
xkb_types { include complete  };
xkb_compat{ include complete+ledscroll(group_lock)};
xkb_symbols   { include
pc+ru+us:2+inet(evdev)+group(alt_shift_toggle)};
xkb_geometry  { include pc(pc105) };
};

Running 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration' affects the
setxkbmap output later, so the console keyboard config clearly makes its
way into X (conflicting with the ibus configuration).

[Bug 1242243] [NEW] In fullscreen, the buttons/overlays do not appear

2013-10-19 Thread Jonathan Meek
Public bug reported:

This may be targetting the wrong thing because they do appear on another
computer. Anyway:

1. Play video in Totem
2. Double click to fullscreen said video
3. Move mouse.

What happens:
Nothing.

What is expected:
Overlays displaying the scrubber, pause, and leave fullscreen options/buttons
should appear.

Now, as I said, I DO NOT have this issue on another computer with Saucy
installed. This issue also exists on Raring on the machine it's being
reported on. I believe this may not be Totem that is the issue in that
case, but I can't think of what else to solidly report the bug against.
