[Bug 1248043] [NEW] evince's menus are useless with the HUD
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 13.10, most of Evince's menu items have been moved into the gear cog on the upper right corner of the window like Nautilus, leaving a single "Help" menu item on the application menu. This makes it effectively useless with Unity's HUD, especially when the Help menu item can be triggered with F1. [Bug 49579] Re: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open
Killing the whole login is pointless because you'd be killing that which a locked screen is meant to protect. Killing just the X session (client) holding the lock is unacceptable because killing a user's apps or shell is worse than the bug itself. If we can get the screensaver to just XUngrabKeyboard and XUngrabPointer before it attempts to grab them itself, then that would be great. I'm just not sure if X lets you ungrab grabs you didn't create, so it may not work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49579 Title: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-screensaver/+bug/49579/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 49579] Re: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open
Either that and even if it doesn't work, can't we get a hack that kills the entire X session in the event the lock is unsuccessful? Or call a user-defined script? [Bug 49579] Re: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open
Initially I was tempted to say we can't fix it because popup menus own ("grab") the keyboard and that blocks the screensaver from taking ownership of the keyboard. But now I wonder... Can't the screensaver just force XUngrabKeyboard before trying to grab it? [Bug 1247895] Re: photo source file missing message with .orf
The other possibility (and the one I'm more leaning toward now) is that LibRaw doesn't recognize the .orf files. LibRaw is the library Shotwell uses to process RAW files. You can import a newer version of Shotwell from our PPA: https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/ppa However, I don't know if this alone will solve your problem, since the newer version of LibRaw is not available there. [Bug 49579] Re: screen doesn't lock when some menu is open
I don't have a problem with manually locking the screen, especially as I have worked in secure Defence facilities where that is standard pracrtice. But I do have a problem with a software interface that falsely claims to provide a facility which in fact doesn't work correctly if at all. To eliminate the immediate problem, distros could get rid of the broken "Lock" setting from the settings menu, and instead just add a notice that CTRL-ALT-L (or whatever) will lock the screen. The security issue is not that there isn't an effective automatic lock, but that the software creates a false and misleading impression that such a facility exists. That part of the problem could surely be fixed easily by changing the setting dialog box as suggested. [Bug 1247948] [NEW] setting items should have a fix order
Public bug reported: The current system settings icon order is alphabetical. Problem 1: Not the most important items are displayed at first in every row. For example in the 'Hardware' category (English version), 'Bluetooth' is the first item, but it should be IMHO 'Diesplays'. Problem 2: Sorting the icons alphabetical results in having the icons on different places depending on the language the system currently uses -> pretty bad when supporting other people through the phone... It would be much better to give the icons a fixed position. This would improve the system settings user experience, because the important buttons would be faster accessible. I've verified that it still works on Gnome Ubuntu 13.10; also it was working fine in the version of Rhythmbox that came with Xubuntu 13.04. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: saucy ui -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247937 Title: Mouse wheel scroll no longer works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1247937/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 743517] Re: Operators need to be localised
I am Russian speaker, but I never use ⊕ instead of XOR. I think ⊕ is not something Russian, but something from boolean algebra. proof: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2295/index.htm ("Enclosed Mathematical Operators" char class) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exclusive_or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_logic_symbols Also, I don't want other functions of gcalctool to be localized (like sin(), cos(), log). Russians use latin sin() and cos() in school and in university. [Bug 1237121] Re: Keyboard: cannot bind "Alt L" to "Key to show the HUD" => Disabled
Also some key combinations can be set in control center, but do not work properly. I can set Alt+Multikey (Alt + menu), but HUD is not activated with this combination. On the other hand Alt-Z works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237121 Title: Keyboard: cannot bind "Alt L" to "Key to show the HUD" => Disabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1237121/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1237121] Re: Keyboard: cannot bind "Alt L" to "Key to show the HUD" => Disabled
I suffer from same bug. I use two layouts configured via XKB. I reverted to XKB due to bug in iBus/layout-indicator/smthng-else making layout switching unusable #1218322. Command-line to configure the layout is: $ setxkbmap -layout us,ru -option grp:caps_toggle,grp_led:scroll,compose:menu I'm sure original reporter has different settings :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1237121 Title: Keyboard: cannot bind "Alt L" to "Key to show the HUD" => Disabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1237121/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10
@hero1900 Here we speak about broken hotkeys on non-latin layout. Did gnome-terminal opened after Ctrl+Alt+T were pressed on non-latin layout?
