[Bug 1397908] Re: sorting by mtime not working when subdirectories are present
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. [Bug 387957] Re: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues)
I don't think this aspect has been stated explicitely (although yaztromo hints at it), but my primary annoyance with this is that the save dialog helpfully selects the filename without the extension, making it is easy to type a new name with the right extension. However, when I first navigate to the target folder (which I almost always do first), I end up seeing the selected name right there and knowing that I cannot click there to get focus without losing the selection. This is quite frustrating. Therefore, dropping the selection when changing focus or changing the color of the selection, when the field does not have focus, will not fully solve the problem. However, if tabbing my way there was less painful, I think I might be happy. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387957 Title: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/387957/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 387957] Re: Improve Save As Dialog Box (focus issues)
Sorry for the spamming. I forgot to mention my last idea: Clicking the label for the field could be a way to set focus to the field. I think it does this on Windows, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Playing a bit around, I found a few workarounds: 1) The thumb button, which I have never used, on my very old Logitech mouse will set the focus without touching the selection. However, not everybody has thumb buttons - particularly on laptops. Scrolling with the mouse wheel in the field does nothing. I guess, if it doesn't have any function already, it could be used as a way to set focus too? 2) Right clicking and selecting copy (as the most neutral option) does the trick too at the cost of replacing what you have in the copy/paste clipboard. Not good, if you were planning to hit Ctrl-C as soon as you get focus with the file name selected. A focus option in the context menu would solve this, but I guess, that one is hard to sell. 3) I just discovered that the good old Alt-N for the file name field (at least in my Danish version) still works. The underscore doesn't appear until you press alt, making it hard to discover. I guess that is a design decision - aesthetics? Also it takes around a second for the underscores to appear, which makes it feel quite slow and, IMO, even harder to discover.

[Bug 1398355] Re: Nautilus crash when remount smb share previously dismounted
Seby Carta, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, this is because it reports this to errors.ubuntu.com . For more on this please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker . If you want to file a report on Lauchpad you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1398458] Re: kernel fails to load iwlwifi firmware - disable CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 217-3ubuntu1 --- systemd (217-3ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining Ubuntu changes: - Create disk/by-partlabel links for mmcblk partitions. - Hack to support system-image read-only /etc, and modify files in /etc/writable/ instead. - debian/rules: Drop doc dir symlinking. It creates havoc with dpkg upgrades, and we already have the automatic per-file symlinking. - debian/rules: Add an epoch to libgudev. - Don't install 80-networking.rules and the Debian *.agent scripts, we never supported them in Ubuntu. Instead, extend systemd's net device udev rule to trigger ifup@.service on network devices. - Keep our much simpler udev maintainer scripts (all platforms must support udev, no debconf). - Add udev Apport package hook. - debian/extra/initramfs.top: Drop $ROOTDELAY, we do that in a more sensible way with wait-for-root. Will get applicable to Debian once Debian gets wait-for-root in initramfs-tools. - debian/extra/initramfs.bottom: If LVM is installed, settle udev, otherwise we get missing LV symlinks. Workaround for LP #1185394. - Add 40-hyperv-hotadd.rules: Workaround for LP #1233466. - Mark graphics devices as PRIMARY_DEVICE_FOR_DISPLAY so that we can wait for those in plymouth. - Add debian/udev.lvm2.init: Dummy SysV init script to satisfy insserv dependencies to lvm2 which is handled with udev rules in Ubuntu. - Lower Breaks: to lvm2 again. Our lvm2 package has always used udev for device setup, and thus is be compatible with systemd, too. - Lower Breaks: to plymouth version which has the udev inotify fix in Ubuntu. - Add HP ProLiant Server Cartridge power control support. - Provide shutdown fallback for upstart. (LP: #1370329) - debian/ifup@.service: Additionally run for auto class. We don't really support allow-hotplug in Ubuntu at the moment, so we need to deal with auto devices appearing after /etc/init.d/networking start already ran. (LP: #1374521) - Add Get-RTC-is-in-local-time-setting-from-etc-default-rc.patch: In Ubuntu we currently keep the setting whether the RTC is in local or UTC time in /etc/default/rcS UTC=yes|no, instead of /etc/adjtime. (LP: #1377258) - Add systemd Apport hook for adding systemd-delta and information about failed units. - Put session scopes into all cgroup controllers. This makes unprivileged user LXC containers work under systemd. (LP: #1346734) - Do not realize and migrate cgroups multiple times, in particular -.slice. This fixes PIDs in non-systemd cgroup controllers to be randomly migrated back to /. - Build-depend on libapparmor-dev to enable AppArmor support (LP: #1396270) Upgrade fixes, keep until 16.04 LTS release: - systemd Conflicts/Replaces/Provides systemd-services. - Remove obsolete systemd-logind upstart job. - Clean up obsolete /etc/udev/rules.d/README on upgrades. (LP: #1381655) systemd (217-4) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium * Reinstate a debian/extra/rules/50-firmware.rules which immediately tells the kernel that userspace firmware loading failed. Otherwise it tries for a minute to call the userspace helper (if CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER is enabled) in vain, which causes long delays with devices which have a range of possible firmware versions. (LP: #1398458) systemd (217-3) experimental; urgency=medium [ Martin Pitt ] * systemd.bug-script: Really capture stderr of systemd-delta. (Closes: #771498) * boot-and-services autopkgtest: Give test apparmor job some time to actually finish. [ Didier Roche ] * updated debian/patches/insserv.conf-generator.patch: - if /etc/X11/default-display-manager doesn't match a systemd unit (or doesn't exist), be less agressive about what to mask: we let all sysvinit-only display-manager units enabled to fallback to previous behavior and let them starting. [Bug 1390120] Re: Manually set time and date reverts to Automatically on restart (Ubuntu Phone)
What kind of systemd interface is system-settings calling to enable/disable automatic time? At the moment we install ntpdate, which hooks itself into /etc/dhcp/dhclient-exit-hooks.d which isn't configurable. timedatectl's set-ntp command is for a local NTP server like ntpd or chronyd, but we don't install any on the phone. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Also affects: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1390120 Title: Manually set time and date reverts to Automatically on restart (Ubuntu Phone) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1390120/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1392292] Re: Clock doesn't update when switching time from manual to automatic
This is all UI, not timedatectl. timedated does nothing which is related to this, as ubuntu touch uses ntpdate (which isn't really configurable, it always runs in the DHCP hook). Please also see bug 1390120 which is the inverse of this. ** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) = ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392292 Title: Clock doesn't update when switching time from manual to automatic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1392292/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1382843] Re: corrupted double-linked list
As policy we don't release builds for same-version packages in Ubuntu's repos to avoid name and version conflicts. (In other words, since shotwell 0.20.2 is in the 14.10 repo, we don't release 0.20.2 for 14.10 in our PPA.) That decision is complicated with Ubuntu maintaining their own fork w/ UOA for Shotwell, but it's just how it goes. Another possibility would be to download the 0.20.2 tarball from GNOME, build it, and run it directly from the build directory (that is, you don't even need to install it). I know that's more painful but it would give a way to test the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to shotwell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382843 Title: corrupted double-linked list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/1382843/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you Albert for looking into this. I have to say I quickly tried to do what you suggested, but didn't succeed. Unfortunately I don't have the time to look into this in such detail. The latest instruction was to submit a bug report upstream (this one) against poppler. 3. This problem does not arise when using xpdf (instead of evince) on my system.
