[Bug 1866228] Re: Gnome shell extensions are badly broken
Extensions are pretty badly buggy for me on Focal. Some work, but many don't, and won't upgrade, can't be configured, and don't give any information about why they have failed. If I go to https://extensions.gnome.org/, the installed extensions page tells me that there are extensions like gsconnect and night-light-slider have an unspecified error but that they can be upgraded, but when I tell them to upgrade I just get another unspecified error and when I refresh the page, it says again that I can upgrade them. Both those extensions do apparently have 3.36 versions - I just can't upgrade them. Likewise, trying to install these extensions from git doesn't work. I still get an error but with no indication what it is. The new gnome-shell Extensions application doesn't show any extensiosn unless I use the On/Off button to disable and then re-enable them. Then it shows some extensions, but not all, and some of the manually installed ones appear in the Built-In section. None of the configuration/settings windows work, whether I try to launch them from gnome-tweaks, https://extensions.gnome.org/, or the new gnome- shell Extensions application. Coverflow-alt-tab is just broken in X11 (but works in Wayland) - see https://github.com/dmo60/CoverflowAltTab/issues/117. There are some errors in journalctl -e, such as this one: JS ERROR: Error: Wrong type number; string expected: _updateState@resource:///org/gnome/shell/extensionPrefs/main.js:706:9 I read somewhere that the configuration/settings windows not working is a known issue in 3.35, so I'm looking forward to 3.36 arriving in Focal and hopefully fixing some of these things. ** Bug watch added: github.com/dmo60/CoverflowAltTab/issues #117 https://github.com/dmo60/CoverflowAltTab/issues/117 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866228 Title: Gnome shell extensions are badly broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1866228/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1856516] Re: Excessive memory usage by gnome-shell in 19.10
In Ubuntu 20.04 (with the newest packages) the leak is present. After logging in the memory usage of gnome-shell is 208MB. After pushing Super+A it jumps to 213MB and stay there. After lock/unlock the screen it jumps to 270MB and stays there. Repeated Super+A and lock/unlock seems to do no further changes. After launching firefox it jumps to 290MB and stays there. Closing firefox and launching it again it jumps to 300MB and stasy there. Repeatedly launching firefox (and other apps like terminal, files, settings, etc.) seems to do just small ~100-500kB jumps. [Bug 1868480] [NEW] gnome mouse (trackpad &trackpoint) and keyboard freezes
Public bug reported: My Thinkpad ist working since years without this problem. Since last Friday, after a reboot, I got mouse and keyboard freezed. I reboot multiple time to analyse the problem. Google as a friend shows me that some problems are reported and I learned a lot but no solution for me. I find out that the problem occurs after 3 to 10 minutes of mouse and keyboard inactivity the mouse and keyboard freezes. If I always working with the mouse or the keyboard no freeze, still for hours. The problem is still reproducible by mouse and keyboard inactivity. This I figured out: - Strg+Alt+Del helps but all work are lost - klicking application (multiple points) entering some character an klicking application again helps some time - closing the lid and opening it after about 30 seconds helps, but requires password. I changed in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf #Enable=true to Enable=true and reboot. Login and wait till freeze, wait, close lid, and open lid. I run journalctl -b >aalog.txt (I have it attached) and analysed it. I found that every freeze time there is an error: Mär 22 15:19:41 BN591 gnome-shell[2978]: JS ERROR: Exception in callback for signal: StatusChanged: Error: value is out of range for Argument 'interval' (type guint32) timeout_source@resource:///org/gnome/gjs/modules/mainloop.js:65:13 Result of uname -a Linux BN591 5.0.0-37-generic #40~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 14 12:06:39 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Result of gnome-shell --version GNOME Shell 3.28.4 apt-cache policy gnome* is in the attached file Any thing else I can deliver to solve the problem Thanks and regards Rainer ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: gnome-shell 3.28.4-0ubuntu18.04.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-37.40~18.04.1-generic 5.0.21 Uname: Linux 5.0.0-37-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl icp zcommon znvpair ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.11 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Sun Mar 22 16:25:39 2020 DisplayManager: gdm3 EcryptfsInUse: Yes SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic third-party-packages ** Attachment added: "journalctl -b and apt-cache policy gnome*" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868480/+attachment/5340172/+files/aalog.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868480 Title: gnome mouse (trackpad &trackpoint) and keyboard freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1868480/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
