[Bug 1799053] Re: Update gedit to 3.30.2

2018-11-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Jeremy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gedit into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/3.30.2-0ubuntu0.18.10.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1796499] Re: Keyboard calculator button not working

2018-11-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Seb, this is missing an SRU template, including a discussion of
regression-potential. I see that your patch is replacing the reference
to gnome-calculator.desktop with gnome-calculator_gnome-
calculator.desktop rather than supporting both, so if the user still has
the deb installed, won't this regress for those users? (Presumably
users of a flavor other than Ubuntu Desktop)

[Bug 1801317] [NEW] Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen

2018-11-02 Thread Norbert
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with GNOME Shell.
Nautilus does not want to occupy 50% (left or right) of the screen sized at
1366x768.

See screencast - https://i.stack.imgur.com/ainWP.gif .

Other applications (such as GNOME Terminal, Eye of GNOME, Gedit) are
normally snapping to the left/right half of the screen.

But Nautilus can be resized to the width lower than half of screen (I
can get 650 px, which is smaller than 1366/2 = 683 px).

The first usable screen resolution seems to be 1400x1050, then goes
1440x900. But large amount of [current
devices](http://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-
stats/desktop/worldwide/#monthly-201709-201809-bar) are still using
1366x768.

Notes:
1. first seen on AskUbuntu ( https://askubuntu.com/q/1088630/66509 )

[Bug 1801110] Re: gnome-shell crashes ending session upon DP monitor switch-away

2018-11-02 Thread John
No crash file is produced in /var/crash at the time the crash occurs.
There are plenty of whoopsie reports under my ID, but none from close to
the time of the crash.

Since I see a segmentation fault, it seems a crash did occur.

Perhaps I need to enable more aggressive crash capturing somehow?

[Bug 762306] Re: Doesn't follow XDG_CACHE_HOME

2018-11-02 Thread Lars Behrens
file-roller should use $XDG_CACHE_HOME or have an option to select a
different directory for caching.

When users' home directories are on a remote machine and mounted via
NFS, then file-rollers' habit of creating ~/.fr-* directories,
extracting there and moving back the result creates huge i/o-loads.

If $XDG_CACHE_HOME would be used, one could direct ~/.cache to some
local directory (which we already did).

If that's not possible maybe there is a possibility to define a
different extracting directory, e.g. by start variable or in the menu.

[Bug 1801415] [NEW] Enlarging icon view within a folder changes desktop icon size also

2018-11-02 Thread jimlovell777
Public bug reported:

If you open a folder and change the view from list to icons and then
hold CTRL and zoom in, the size of the icons on the desktop change as
well. Zooming in while using the list view does not affect the desktop
icon sizes. To me this is a bug and not desirable behavior but if it's
just a matter of preference and not a bug please let me know.
