Re: [tdf-discuss] Re: [tdf-discuss] How to pronounce the name (again, sorry)

2011-04-21 Thread Anton Meixome
Spanish, Galician and Portuguese

Libre (from latin Libertas, freedom) is a native word in these languages

About Google, we can try this

http://translate.google.com/#en|en|Libre%20Office

At least is a compound word

This thread should be a discuss more about transliteration (between
alphabets, considering sense of words) than pronunciation.
Speech is mandatory free but writing needs consensus (branding) and
autority (guide for users)

Antón

Yes, please... or at least the code could be available

http://code.google.com/p/dicollecte/downloads/list

Why isn't there? It's a deception and annoying, plus when the
developpers and administrator declare are getting tired

I am lingüist, and I spent a lot of time looking for this tool or,
better, for include my language in a community project, as dicollect,
for that goal. It's a key issue for users and minority languages
because there is not even commercial products.

In side client, it could be a great service if an spellchecker,

Re: [tdf-discuss] Re: LibreOffice news published in argentinian newspaper La Nacion

2010-11-21 Thread Anton Meixome
About LibreOffice and TDF in Galicia (Spain), already in september!
Codigo Cero, first electronic newspaper in galician especializated in
tecnologies. Very popular.

http://www.codigocero.com/OpenOffice-org-reorganizase-coma

Automatic translation to spanish

Translation to english (AT)

The acquisition of Sun Microsystems on the part of Oracle took
OpenOffice.org to look for a new identity (for the brand OpenOffice
happens to be now a property of Oracle, company that could throw the
locking device to the project in any moment to give priority to
alternatives of payment) to the project of free software and this way
they organize under a new community called The Document Foundation,
passing his known offimatic application to answer for the name of
LibreOffice.
This new project has many supports of the industry of the free
software (Novell, Google, Red Hat, Canonical...), for which it has his
guaranteed viability. The volunteers organized in the new Foundation
also requested the Oracle that it passes to form part of the new
entity and that releases the brand OpenOffice.org (although for the
moment there is not answer to such an invitation).
For that which seems, the current users of OpenOffice.org should not
worry, for the changes in the product were limited to a change of
name, since is of waiting that the current collaborators of the
project continue in the same after this change of direction.
