All I can say is I have enough Squeezeboxen and a Transporter to keep me
going. I'll archive the official SC7 release and code and that'll be
the end of the road for me if the deal goes ahead. Hopefully they're
built to last and Sean's non-compete doesn't forever prevent the
re-emergence of Slim Devices.

Makes sense from a Microsoft business stratergy to get into esential

Cannot imagine that a Squeezebox will fall into this

Who knows, maybe there will be a management buyout by Slim Devices so
we will end up back to pre-logitech days.

 ZURICH, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Swiss-based Logitech's LOGN.VX largest
shareholder and board member Daniel Borel said he had no reason to sell
his stake in the computer peripherals group and declined to comment on
rumours MicrosoftMSFT.O could bid for the firm. I am a co-founder
of Logitech. Would you be willing to sell your child? Borel told
Reuters in an interview when asked whether he would be prepared to sell
his 6 percent stake in Logitech.

I have no reason to sell. But I will not be the one to decide. I own
only some 6 percent so I will neither enable nor prevent a sale of
Logitech. At the end the shareholders will be the ones who will decide
if they want to sell, said Borel.

Borel declined to comment on rumours that Microsoft, the world's
largest software firm would make a bid for Logitech, the world's
 largest maker of computer mice.

Rumours are rumours. I can't make any specific comment on them, said
 Borel, Logitech's former chairman.

Microsoft is above all a software company -- it is a very, very large
company and only in a couple of small fields we compete with each
other, said Borel when asked whether Microsoft would be a good partner
 for Logitech.

Logitech is a company that is in great shape. It is growing nicely and
above all it has a strong vision for the future, he said.

Don't worry, have some faith in the Slim Devices crew.

MS could buy Logitech, but I'm pretty sure the Slim Devices management
is aware that the community would die under MS lead. If Logitech is
bought we are probably going to see a management buyout by Slim Devices
or some other arrangement so the community and our beloved SqueezeBox
could continue to live.

The Logitech purchase of Slim Devices was a completely different thing,
it made sense from both companies point of view.

I was discussing this earlier with someone else.

Has Microsoft every acquired a company where the acquisition was a
success? I'm SURE they had to have, but neither of us could think
of any. Maybe if they had, espescially a company with a strong
linux/OSS component, I'd feel a little less sick to my stomach.

Generally speaking, once MS buys someone the company just suffocates.

Anyway, until it happens it's all rumor.

One of the reasons people repost things like this over and over again is
other people using titles like 'Uh Oh'. The next guy quickly scans the
subjects, sees nothing mentioning MS and posts it again. So I would
suggest sane, descriptive - but less poetic - subjects to prevent this.

[slim] Uh Oh, A problem

2006-01-27 Thread WrightDawg

My slimserver software went nuts tonight and I have no clue why. I
was missing a song from one of the albums (it vanished from the
slimserver software not my hard drive) so I did a clear everything and
rescan function and when it was finished all hell broke loose.

Now I have multiple listings for many albums, some albums have actually
changed names- for example I now have 5 versions of A Rush of Blood to
the Head, as well as A Rush of Blood to the Head (Volume 1).
Previous to this I would have only had one name for the album, the
album itself and not labeled Volume 1.

I have cleared and re-scanned several times and the problem still
persists. This is all completely new and nothing has happened like
this before.

Any ideas? I'm running version 6.2.1 and all my music is encoded in
FLAC. The system and software have all run perfectly until now.

Thanks in advance.
