Re: [drakelist] Low-pass filter etc. setup.
"David Drake" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Gary, Thats exactly how mine is hooked up. It works just fine, certainly better than before. I had TV problems before I put the 3300 on the antenna line. None afterward. The direct line is to my standard antenna. So in this case, I only match one antenna. Will probably sell my 3300 after digital. Won't need it. Or should'nt?? You could put the TV-3300 on the Direct 1 or Direct 2 output of the MN-2000 to the beam, since you really don't need it for the low bands and the beam is a good enough termination for the filter anyway. 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Bent wrote: Hello All Is someone able to inform me about the most opmimal/recommendable way/order to combine the 1: TR-4CW, 2: TV-3300-LP, 3: W-4 and 4: MN2000. Re: [drakelist] Low-pass filter etc. setup.
Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Gary - No, not quite. Tuners of this type knock down 2nd harmonic energy by about 30 dB, which in truth is probably enough for most areas any more. But a TV-3300 cuts off a little above 30 MHz, and has 80 dB of attenuation by Channel 2 around 54 MHz. Also, Bent is not using the MN-2000 for the 20 - 10M bands in his particular setup. By February of next year it won't matter anyway, at least in the US, since everything has to be HD by then. Then all we have to do is worry about whoever the FCC sells Channels 2-6 to! :-) 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 4-B, C-Line & TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs Gary Poland wrote: "Gary Poland" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- I may be wrong but isn't having the MN-2000 in line and adjusted for minimum SWR doing the job of a TV-3300? 73, Gary -- Submissions:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

Re: [drakelist] Low-pass filter etc. setup.
Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- David - Only problem with that is that the filter no longer sees a 50 ohm termination, resulting in "who knows?" what the cutoff looks like. Also, if the antenna is well matched enough for the W-4 to read accurately, then you don't really need the tuner. The tuner should always be last before the antenna since the impedance is "unknown", which is why you are using the tuner! 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 4-B, C-Line & TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs David & Chris Drake wrote: Hi, I have a W4 and use it after my mn2000. Makes it good to set the mic gain as well. So, what I have is TR4C, then MN2000, then W4, then LP filter, then antenna. Re: [drakelist] Low-pass filter etc. setup.
Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Bent - Not real critical in this case. Why the W-4? The MN-2000 has a wattmeter in it. I would say TR-4C, TV-3300-LP and MN-2000. The TV-3300 needs to see 50 ohms in and out. The W-4 could be put on either side of the TV-3300, but really doesn't tell you anything you don't already know. The MN-2000 can be switched to Direct 1 or Direct 2 for the higher bands, its wattmeter is still in circuit. 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 4-B, C-Line & TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs Bent wrote: Hello All Is someone able to inform me about the most opmimal/recommendable way/order to combine the 1: TR-4CW, 2: TV-3300-LP, 3: W-4 and 4: MN2000. Dieter Horst <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Hello Alan, while an MN-2000 will give you some attenuation of the harmonics, I doubt that it will be as good as the the TV-3300 low pass filter for example. [drakelist] Low pass filter?
It is my understanding that a low pass filter is not necessary with T-4XB is used in conjunction with an MN-2000 trans-match because the MN-2000 utilizes a PI-circuit and this network basically serves as a low pass filter...is this correct?
