Hi!

The syntax would be dsrun org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport --delete
-e adminuserid --mapfile=mapfilenameusedforimport.

The same issue just happened here last night.

Cheers! Jayan

[Dspace-tech] Deleting large batches of items from DSpace??

2008-04-24 Thread Thornton, Susan M. (LARC-B702)[NCI INFORMATION SYSTEMS]
We have accidentally imported a large number of duplicate records into
DSpace. The only way I know of to delete a record from DSpace is to use
the web user interface, deleting one record/document at a time. Does
anyone have/know of a quicker/better way to do this, especially with a
large number of items to delete?

This may help you:
http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Install_a_theme_%28Manakin%29

There's a page of Manakin HOWTOs at
http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Category:ManakinHOWTO .

Look for commands. I've found it easier to dig through
and work out for myself how pages are put together than try to explain
it. :(

[Dspace-tech] DSpace 1.5 themes and source

2008-04-24 Thread vg_us
I'm navigating my way through DSpace 1.5 xlmui having virtually no
experience with either DSpace or XML, XLT, XLS, etc...
So, sorry in advance if some of my questions have obvious answers.
Three questions at the moment - all related to customizations.

1. Themes - in docs there are instructions how to create a theme based on
template, but it's too bare. So, how do i create theme based on Reference?
Has anyone done it? I already copied Reference to Custom in
dspace/webapps/xmlui/themes/. Now as far as i understand i create Custom.xls
to override some things like itemSummaryView.
2. Since i've been doing customizations in dspace/ no dspace-source/, how to
preserve theme through updates and rebuilds? I'll move changes to
dspace.cfg and input-forms.xml to dspace-source/, but what to do about
Custom theme - where in the source three do i put it? dspace/target/ is
overwritten during maven build, right? do i put it into
dspace/modules/xmlui/target/xmlui1.5.0/themes/?
3. What files do what in xmlui? There is very little documentation as far as
i can tell. How dri2xhtml/ and dri2xhtml.xsl included in the theme?

Thanks again for all your help

Re: [Dspace-tech] Creating database problem

2008-04-24 Thread Hossein Hamam
Hello Mark,
Thank you for your reply, I edited according to your solution, but I was
still getting the error:
FATAL: Ident authentication failed for user "dspace"

Commenting the bellow lines allowed to replace the Ident with the md5, hence
problem was solved.

# "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only
#local all all ident sameuser
# IPv4 local connections:
#hostall all 127.0.0.1/32 ident sameuser
# IPv6 local connections:
#hostall all ::1/128   ident sameuser
hostdspace dspace 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255 md5
edited pg_hba.conf by disabling the above

Best Regards,

'man createuser'

-A (or --no-adduser) asserts that the new user should not be permitted
to create other users. This is sensible for a role such as DSpace's.
Daemons' accounts should not be permitted to create other users,
unless that is the express function of a particular daemon.

By the way, I would recommend against 'createuser -d' for this user.
There is no need for the DSpace user to be able to create a database
either, when you are going to do it manually. Instead I would
recommend '-D', since we are asserting defaults, and the use of the
'postgres' user in both commands.

> And using which user should I issue these commands:

I would recommend:

  createuser -U postgres -D -A -P dspace
createdb -U postgres -E UNICODE -O dspace dspace

while logged on as OS user 'postgres'.

In other words, use the database superuser (-U postgres) which has
rights to create users and databases, as the user in both commands,
and set the newly-created DSpace user (-O dspace) as the owner of the
new database.

Since you are using Ident authentication, you would have to 'su
dspace' before executing your second command. Or you would need a
mapping from OS user 'postgres' to DBMS user 'dspace' in pg_ident. If
you have in pg_hba:

  local dspace dspace ident dspace

then you'd need in pg_ident:

  dspace dspace dspace
  dspace postgres dspace

If you use '-U postgres' in both commands, then the second command
should connect if the first does.

Please be aware that I've never tried to set up Ident authentication,
so my advice on it should not be completely trusted. :-)

It just occurred to me that you need two sets of permissions in pg_hba
if you're going to use the commands you showed, because DSpace is
going to need a 'host' connection, but the above commands all use a
'local' connection.

> However, if I su as dspace, I am not able to issue the first command, but

> able to issue the 2nd command.

You'd need the reverse mapping: 'some-map-name dspace postgres'. But
I'm not sure which database(s) need this mapping.

> After some research I found that I should edit the file pg_ident.conf.
> But what should I edit? Did anyone face a similar problem?

May I ask why you're using Ident authentication? I think this is the
first use of it that I've ever heard of. I've used MD5 authentication
whenever I grant access to PostgreSQL.

Are you running this from behind a proxy? If so, you need to set up the
maven configuration appropriately. Maven is complaining about not being
able to download the maven-site-plugin from any repository, which sounds
like a connectivity issue.

Re: [Dspace-tech] [INFO] Error building POM (may not be this project'sPOM): Unable to download the artifact from any repository

2008-04-24 Thread Robin Taylor
Which directory are you in when you run the command ? You should be in
../dspace, I suspect you are in the modules directory so it finds the wrong
pom to begin with.

Cheers, Robin.
