Looking at the section on instruments, there's the following statement: "There's a new fully scriptable 2D rendering system supported for creating instruments, the so called [[Canvas]] which allows you to create fully dynamic cockpit instruments and HUDs, even by loading and drawing vector images. This can be used to create CDUs/MCDUs for FMC, complex glass cockpit avionics (MFDs, EICAS etc) and any other "glass" instruments that could previously only be created in C++ space. All of this has now become possible just by using [[Nasal]] scripting, without having to rebuild FlightGear." Can someone more familiar with Canvas confirm how much of this statement is true for the 2.8.0 release? For example, I'm pretty sure that the Nasal interface support has only just been added to data/master. Perhaps a better statement would be "Canvas - a flexible, 2D rendering system designed for complex instruments such as CDUs, MFDs, EICAS and other "glass cockpit" interfaces." -Stuart -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. [Flightgear-devel] Changelog for Release 2.8.0
Hi everybody, we are very close to our release date, just a few days left until we hopefully ship our latest-and-greates-ever FlightGear version. Please check the changelog at http://wiki.flightgear.org/Changelog_2.8.0 and make sure every new feature is noted at a prominent place there. These are not only core features but also new/updated aircraft, scenery improvements, usability changes - whatever made FlightGear better since the last release. The changelog is often copied by online media and might help to attract new user, so please help creating a persuasive advertising for FlightGear 2.8.0! Thank you Torsten -- Live Security Virtual Conference Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond.
