Bigbluebutton - is this port being maintained?
Hi I have asked a couple of questions about www/bigbluebutton. The current port is looking for openoffice files in the wrong place and the port has not been updated to 0.8. I have cc'd posts to the listed maintainer and emailed directly but so far there have been no responses. Can anyone enlighten me? Ports to packages question
Hi On a system with a large number of ports installed and where some have been installed from binaries and some compiled what is the neatest way to remove the binary packages and replace them with local compilations. Experience with portshaker
Best wishes for the new year. I decided I needed texlive so I installed portshaker with the intention of adding texlive to my ports tree. After installing portshaker and running portshaker -v I found the existing ports tree /usr/ports/ deleted and portshaker had created a new directory /var/cache/portshaker with the following sub directories: bsd_sharp freebsd_texlive freebsd_texlive_releng ports The /var/cache/portshaker/ports was empty /bsd-sharp contained a ports hierarchy but with a very limited range of ports within the hierarchy. freebsd_texlive contained .svn , Tools, print freebsd_texlive_releng contained .svn, MOVED, print I was expecting the default portshaker.conf to have retained the original /usr/ports/ tree and put the texlive ports in /usr/ports/prints - however finding my original tree deleted was an unexpected outcome. Would that be due to a run error on an incorrectly configured postshaker.conf? 1. How should portshaker.conf be set for an appropriate configuration 2. I have now rebuilt the /usr/ports/ 3. Have not deleted /var/cache/portshaker/* How to proceed now? Many thanks in advance for advice. Hi Stas I am aware of that but I am not certain you have grasped my point. What you say about qt33 has been the case for some time. However there are still ports that depend upon qt33. The previous arrangement was thatkoffice-kde4 only gave the port ignore message when the installed port was NOT up todate. Now it ALWAYS gives that message. This is an irritating change. Maybe the port could add an announcement that koffice-kde4 is uptodate. As things stand everytime portupgrade is run you now need to check whether an update to koffioce-kde4 is actually available. It would be even better would be a workround enabling installation even when qt33 is installed but I feel that is asking too much! change in portupgrade reporting for editors/koffice-kde4
I have noticed a small change in reporting from portupgrade for koffice-kde4. Current behaviour reports as below even when koffice-kde4 is up to date. Previously if koffice-kde4 was up to date there was no such report. The previous behaviour seemed preferable as one only checked to update koffice when the report, as shown below, appeared. Now one always has to check! Is the change intentional - if so why? [root@dns1 /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/qt33]# portupgrade -a [Updating the pkgdb in /var/db/pkg ... - 1046 packages found (-2 +2) (...).. done] ** Port marked as IGNORE: editors/koffice-kde4: does not build with x11-toolkits/qt33 installed. One approach might be to usee a cut-down i386 jail. Thank you Peter for that. Interesting idea I will think about that one but my real preference is to get an amd64 version. I do know someone who has the skill to re-engineer the binary blobs but I would need to give him some idea of what he would be letting himself in for. Is anyone able to pinpoint where the problem(s) lie or have any idea of how much work would be involved to produce an amd64 version? Its too many years since I have done a lot of coding and I would be reluctant to give him an estimate based on my currently inadequate level of coding expertise! mail/postfix-policy-spf-perl Server configuration problem
Hi all I am going nuts - I have used spf before but I just cannot get it working on this FreeBSD 8.2 system. I suspect I have done something so obviously stupid that I cannot see it. Postgrey is working. How can I trace the cause of the problem? Is spf-policyd_time_limit correctly specified? All the docs I have seen suggest postfix-policyd-spf-perl be set up to run as user nobody. Is that correct? I have raised the problem on the postfix users list but so far the pearls of wisdom have not solved the problem! Cannot get spf working with the server. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Due to problems with apache22 running using ssl from ports I have deinstalled ssl from ports and recompiled a number which I know used libssl.so.7. Apache22 not starting with SSL from ports
Hi Yesterday I started a thread entitled: "Apache22 not starting - is this a SSL from ports bug?". Since then I have deinstalled ssl from ports, rebuilt apache and all relevant ports The server now starts with no other changes and uses the same httpd.conf file. As a result I am now convinced that the problem does lie with recent upgrades not working when openssl is built from ports even though make.conf has the line: WITH_OPENSSL_FROM_PORTS=yes david Photographic Artist Permanent Installations & Design Creative Imagery and Advanced Digital Techniques High Dynamic Range Photography & Official Portraiture Combined darkroom & digital creations & Systems Adminstrator for the vizion2000.net network ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-ports-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
Apache22 not starting - is this a SSL from ports bug?
HI Some assistance would be much appreciated as the web server is now off line. apache22 has mysteriously stopped loading after an attempted restart. The log file even at duebug level does not indicate why the server will not start. It was working fine and stopped following a recent ports upgrade. I have had a similar symptom once before which seemed to be due to using ssl from ports. On that occasion I recompiled apache22 and all mods andput the following line in make.conf: WITH_OPENSSL_FROM_PORTS=yes and that appeared to solve the problem on that occasion. HOWVER this time I am not so fortunate and cannot get the server to start. I am still curious about SSL from ports as a possible cause. openssl from ports is reported as version openssl-1.0.0_4 however as you can see from the httpd-error.log (in full below) the lines: "[Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [info] mod_ssl/2.2.17 compiled against Server: Apache/2.2.17, Library: OpenSSL/1.0.0c" make me wonder if the apache compile has ignored the make.conf WITH_OPENSSL_FROM_PORTS=yes and compiled from system default. Is that what those lines mean and If so how do I remedy it? Below is some more detailed info which includes httpd.conf, list of ssl relevant ports, & the httpd-error.log file generated at debug level. The following ssl relevant ports are installed: linux-openssl-0.9.7f_2 SSL and crypto library (Linux Version) openssl-1.0.0_4 SSL and crypto library php5-openssl-5.3.4 The openssl shared extension for php py26-openssl-0.11 Python interface to the OpenSSL library qca-ossl-2.0.0.b3_4 QCA OpenSLL plugin httpd.conf Syntax is reported as OK dns1# httpd -t Syntax OK dns1# hostname dns1.vizion2000.net dns1# httpd-error.log file entries after trying to start the server: dns1# /usr/local/sbin/apachectl -e debug -k start test_2011_01_01_12 [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] Init: Initialized OpenSSL library [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] Init: Seeding PRNG with 0 bytes of entropy [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] Init: Generating temporary RSA private keys (512/1024 bits) [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] Init: Generating temporary DH parameters (512/1024 bits) [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [warn] Init: Session Cache is not configured [hint: SSLSessionCache] [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] Init: Initializing (virtual) servers for SSL [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] mod_ssl/2.2.17 compiled against Server: Apache/2.2.17, Library: OpenSSL/1.0.0c [Sat Jan 01 15:08:56 2011] [info] mod_unique_id: using ip addr 62.49.197.50 [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_file_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_dbm_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_anon_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_default_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authn_alias_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_host_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_groupfile_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_user_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_dbm_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_owner_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module authz_default_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module auth_basic_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module auth_digest_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module file_cache_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module cache_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module disk_cache_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module include_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module filter_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module charset_lite_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module deflate_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module log_config_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module logio_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module env_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module mime_magic_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module cern_meta_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module expires_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module headers_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module usertrack_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module unique_id_module [Sat Jan 01 15:08:57 2011] [debug] mod_so.c(246): loaded module setenvif_module

What is happening is that no packages are being upgraded! The only response I am getting is for portupgrade to skip the upgrade of all packages on the grounds they are "up to date". man portupgrade says -f forces the upgrade of the packages EVEN IF it is a reinstall of the same version. I want all the nominated ports and all the ports affected by -rR to be forced to upgrade. portupgrade -f advice please
A bit puzzled I have a problem with apache22 loading and decided before doing anything else that I would upgrade apache22 recursively to rebuild all ports upon which it depened and which depend upon apache. The (to me) logical command was: dns1# portupgrade -frR apache22 Which generated the following: [Exclude up-to-date packages done] Man portupgrade shows: -f --forceForce the upgrade of a package even if it is to be a downgrade or just a reinstall of the same ver- sion, or the port is held by user using the HOLD_PKGS variable in pkgtools.conf. I do not want to exclude packages that appear to be up-to-date. Where is this limitation on force set? KDE4 load libicui18n.so.38 not found - can create system crash!
Hi Below is a script produced from a failed attempt to load kde4 on amd64. Up until latest upgrades there were no problems. Now loading from #startx now produces thhe output shown from the script file. The very wierd thing is that in the event of a second attempt to launch x with startx the whole system crashes immediately. So I am seeing two problems relating specifically to this report. 1. The primary failure which seems to be due to an inability to find libicui18n.so.38. 2. The secondary question is why should a crash occur when a second attempt is made to startx? This suggests a systematic failure of some kind. My guess is the primary may be solveable by rebuilding icu and its dependencies (quit a lot I believe!). There seem to be some other problems revealed by this script which I do not understand. Comments would be appreciated. firefox weirdness cookie handling
Hi I have noticed that firefox-3.5.16,1 has a weird behaviour on cookie handling with some sites when cookies are "ask me every time" is set for third party cookies. Following a denial firefox appears to lock up and the application has to be killed to restart. Switching of tabs is not possible. On reload the "apply to all cookies from this site can be checked and eventually the tab closed. If yes, try to delete them. I also have related problems following the latest upgrade. There are no plasma applets installed on the system (Freebsd 7.2 p3) KDE now loads with a splash screen including the following: "kwin Window Manager Desktop effects were too slow and have been suspended. If this was a temporary problem, you can resule using the 'Alt+Shift+F12' shortcut. You can disable functionality checks in System Settings (on the advanced tab in Desktop Effects)." Now comes the serious bit. After ending the session and then attempting to login again the system crashes. On the surface the idea sounds sensible. Maybe there are some issues relating to consistency across the whole ports tree in the way languages are handled. I see no solution being intrinsically better than any other but would tend to favour a consistent approach for all language. We already have one built in inconsistencyt -- i.e. english is handled different;ly than any other. Ports - installation & upgrade history
Hi I was idly wondering how easy/difficult it might be to maintain and access an historical record of port installations and upgrades on a particular system. Something fairly comprehensive that would enable one to see when a port was first installed, its original version number, when it was upgraded/deinstalled/reinstalled and subsequent changes to the installed version. Maybe also time/date when a port tree was updated and which ports were affected by those updates. I dont suppose there a convenient way of obtaining this information by default? If not is there a port which would do it?
