Re: [Audyssey] LegendMUD

2008-06-09 Thread Orin
I've played this game before, and love it. I'll check it out again and
let you know if there should be anything changed for screen readers.
Mainly just maps, but that's in every mud. Gotta love time traveling.

recommended by one of our long-time players, so pardon the
interruption for a bit of an advert.

 About the game:

LegendMUD is a rich landscape based on a heavily modified version of
DikuMUD. LegendMUD first went public February 14th, 1994, and has
operated continually since that date. For the past 14 years, Legend
has expanded both in physical size as well as consistently developing
unique features that set it apart from the vast majority of MUDs
 available.

LegendMUD has also continued with the same theme for these last 14
years: it is an environment built to give life to the legends and
myths of mankind's history. LegendMUD is divided into three eras of
history: Ancient, Medieval, and Industrial. Within each of those eras
exists dozens of interconnected areas, each displaying a rich tapestry
of legend and lore. Dozens of quests are sprinkled liberally
throughout LegendMUD to allow players to travel between the three eras
as well as hundreds of quests that range from simple to epic in
 nature.

Each of the eras contains over 15 unique areas. These can range from
Imperial Rome to Feudal Japan to the Russian Revolution at Petrograd.
Every one of these areas is carefully crafted to be unique yet still
fit into the overall landscape of LegendMUD: NPCs based on actual
historical figures; scores of carefully designed and
environment-correct items, equipment, and food stuffs; and rooms and
quests written to fully immerse the player into those localized
 legends.

LegendMUD features a 'classless' skills system, free-forming clan
system, player housing and equipment customization options, optional
playerkilling and roleplaying, an account system for multiple
characters, and a staff that is constantly involved in making the game
a welcoming and entertaining place to play.

LegendMUD is also regularly expanding. In the past 24 months Ancient
Carthage, Medieval Japan, Industrial Petrograd, Dartmoor England, and
Ancient Rome have all been added to the long list of areas.

Hello

This announcement sounds great and actually has me curious about the mud
itself so I'll probably go take a closer look at it. Also be good to see
if any other gamers here write in about their experiences and thoughts on
Legend.
