Mario observes: Now here is a practical suggestion that perhaps Valmiki Faleiro and Melinda Powell and other Goanetters in Goa can work on. Start in the Catholic community and use the clergy and the school system to create awareness before they start driving, as well as to request the grown ups to be more aware of what is going on on the roads and their role when they are driving. Every little bit that helps to create awareness can save lives, one life at a time. Good job, Martinho. _ Do not post admin requests to the list. Goanet mailing list (Goanet@goanet.org)

At one stage it crossed my mind to ask the Road Transport officials to conduct a check around the church on a Sunday, but this move could have been viewed from the communal angle by others, hence I refrained from doing so. On my part, I advise the youngsters, and in the first case that I came across ( a 10 year old neighbour ), I spoke to the parents, but instead of stopping the boy, they encouraged him to take the bike. Now 19, he is the one who drops the mother to work and collects her everyday. I suppose, she was grooming him for this, all these years. Rose Dias _ Do not post admin requests to the list.
