[IRCA] TP 31 Aug Victoria version.

2018-08-31 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
A bit of an Australia-fest this morning.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

possibly at a moment when I wasn't tuned in..612 702 747 774 all came close at
times.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

612 4QR sports announcer //738 1205UT, and other times

702 2BL woman interviewing man 1245UT //612

747 4QS a bit of a surprise "in our Melbourne studios" woman interviewing woman
//612 1308UT

774 3LO James Brown 'I Got You' //594, 855, 1258UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could
be understood by a native speaker:

594 3WV woman DU English //774 1237UT

738 2NR sports //612 1202UT

756 RNZ National likely with live Cajun music concert from Lafayette Louisiana
1309UT, no parallels

765 R. Kahungunu vocal music //603 1257UT

828 3GI woman talking //594 into music 1307UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

567 RNZ National? man and woman talking, DU English intonation 1235UT

576 2RN used this for parallels, but didn't note a specific time for it alone

585 7RN ABC fanfare 1300UT

603 R. Waatea vocal music //765 1257UT, better signal earlier

621 3RN man talking //576, both weak, 1219UT

738 2NR man talking //702 1309UT

774 sounded like English lessons mixing with 3LO.. JOUB likely, sole Asian today

792 4RN man talking //621 1227UT, into guitar music

846 2RN woman talking //576 1240UT

855 4QO/4QB James Brown //774 1258UT

1017 man and woman talking, island language 1229UT

1116 man to another man on phone, DU English intonation 1215UT

1548 4QD woman being interviewed //828 1322UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged
by splatter)

 1566 seemed to be Asian;
531 558 675 837 864 882 891 909 1008 1098 1107 1458 1503 1512 seemed to be DU

Nick

Re: [IRCA] SDR ELAD Recordings

2018-08-31 Thread Chuck Hutton

And someone needs to mention that SDR Radio (Simon Brown) supports the Elad
family (and much more) in his SDR Console.
Some might argue, but I guess it supports more radios and does more things than
any other program.

[IRCA] A few audio clips from Roy Barstow's Elad capture (Cape Cod)

2018-08-31 Thread Mark Connelly via IRCA
--- Begin Message ---
The USB stick from Roy Barstow arrived and I went over the RF capture file he
made at 0100 UTC / 27 AUG.

Conditions were somewhat auroral at the time.

First is the recording of an English language station on 729 believed to be
South Africa.

This is 729 as recorded in the AM mode:
https://app.box.com/s/5nek1vwhx1k5ub7rzju360rcryun5vtq

Here it is on lower sideband mode:
https://app.box.com/s/wgnbznastzu8oc20oz8quphd76vmjfdv

Any identification help will be appreciated. I may eventually submit this to
the RealDX group.

Overall the capture was slightly more interesting than average though the site
Roy uses in Falmouth, MA is besieged by powerhouse signals from the metro-NYC
area, worse than here in that respect.

Here are a few other audio clips from Roy's file:

Thanks James for sharing. What we have in common are the Cubans which are
quite pesty on both your end and here.

The recording is of historical interest too. Many Mexican stations, likely
including some in your capture, are migrating to FM, vacating AM.

ELAD recordings can also be replayed using HDSDR, SDR Console, Studio
One and probably a few others. There's a learning curve for all of
them.  HDSDR is probably the easiest to figure out.  Studio One needs to
be purchased before you can use it, the others are free.
