https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420502 --- Comment #2 from disu...@disroot.org --- Why the the Stem-and-Leaf plots are worth implementing? "The stem-and-leaf can be examined in more detail than the histogram because the bars of a histogram can hide distances between points within them. However, gaps such as these can be detected in stem-and-leaf displays because they retain the numeric values of the data. Both the histogram and stem-and-leaf displays are to some degree simplifications of distributions, but the numeric values in the stem-and-leaf reduce the possibility of oversimplification." Just close all your dolphin instances when you test, you will be good. [KEXI] [Bug 420534] New: Report uses incorrect record/row in group footer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420534 Bug ID: 420534 Summary: Report uses incorrect record/row in group footer Product: KEXI Version: 3.2.0 Platform: Compiled Sources OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Reports and Printouts Assignee: kexi-b...@kde.org Reporter: jf...@infoblitz.com CC: a...@piggz.co.uk, in...@fables.co.za Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 127843 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=127843&action=edit Sample KEXI database with a table and a report based of on that table, with a group using the first column that shows different values in header and footer of same group. SUMMARY I believe this is actually a bug in KDb, but it is most visible when doing a report that has data sourced fields in a group footer: when there is a single group the QVariant returned by KexiDBReportDataSource is invalid; when there is more than one group it uses the first row of the next group. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a new file-based KEXI project. 2. Add a new table with two fields, it does not matter their data type. 3. Add some rows to that table and repeat some values in one of the two columns. 4. Add a new report with a section grouped by the column that has repeated values; mark at least the “Show group footer” option. 5. Add a field in the group header and set its data source to the field for grouping. 6. Add the same field but on the group footer. 6. Switch to edit mode. OBSERVED RESULT The fields in the header and footer of *the same group* do not have the same values, in fact the footer has the same value as the header for the *next* group; the last group’s footer has no value. EXPECTED RESULT The header and footer fields should have the same value because they are in the same group and use the grouping field as data source. (I’ve attached a sample database that shows this behavior). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Leap 15.2 KDE Plasma Version: N/A KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.12.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Is i said, i believe that i narrowed the problem down to KDb, but i do not know how to fix it. This is what i found. In KReportPreRenderePrivate::renderDetailSection, KReport does something along the lines of (pseudocode): dataSource->moveFirst(); if (group->hasHeader()) { renderSection(group->header()); } while (!dataSource->eof()) { renderSection(group->detail()); dataSource->moveNext(); } if (group->hasFooter()) { if (dataSource->movePrevious()) { renderSection(group->footer()); } } The problem is that dataSource->movePrevious() returns true but does NOT move back one record. The only KReportDataSource-derivated class i could find in KEXI is KexiDBReportDataSource and its movePrevious is implemented as such: bool KexiDBReportDataSource::movePrevious() { if ( d->cursor ) return d->cursor->movePrev(); return false; } I have verified that d->cursor, a pointer to KDbCursor, is not null and that its movePrev() return true. KDbCursor::movePrev only works if the cursor is buffered, and KexiDBReportDataSource makes sure of it. The rellevant part of movePrev is: if (m_afterLast && (m_records_in_buf > 0)) { drv_bufferMovePointerTo(m_records_in_buf - 1); m_at = m_records_in_buf; d->atBuffer = true; //now current record is stored in the buffer d->validRecord = true; m_afterLast = false; return true; } It seems that buffering should be implemented by drivers and drv_bufferMovePointerTo tells the driver’s cursor to move its pointer to the last record in its cache. However, i’ve seen that the driver for PostgreSQL does not implement buffering and SqlCursor does the following: void SqliteCursor::drv_bufferMovePointerTo(qint64 at) { d->curr_coldata = d->records.at(at); } It seems that d->records is the “raw” record data from the database —the cache buffer—, and buffered cursor call drv_appendCurrentRecordToBuffer() to record the current record to that buffer. However, SqlCursor’s method, even though i’ve checked it is called, never stores anything inside records because the first thing it does is: void SqliteCursor::drv_appendCurrentRecordToBuffer() { if (!d->curr_coldata) return; … The *only* time i could find that curr_coldata is set is precisely within drv_bufferMovePointerTo, that can only set it to null because records has never been filled. Moveover, even if somehow curr_coldata were set, i do not see where it is being used and SqliteCursor::value always calls SQLite3’s function to retrieve the data from the prepared query. Once sqlite3_step returns SQLITE_DONE after the last row, the prepared statement can not be used, SqliteCursor:

While I can see the use case, this precise behavior disrupt my workflow : almost every screenshot I take goes through GIMP for cropping and annotating the screenshots before I copy and paste it into another application. This means that I almost never want to save the intermediate image (and when I do I click on "Save"), and since I don't want to regularly clean up my screenshots I end up using the "Copy to clipboard" button and manually launch GIMP, which defeats the point of the "Export" button. If possible, an option in the setting to select between the old and new behavior would be fairly nice. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 420513] kde-open5 ignores default configured mail client
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420513 Konstantin Kharlamov changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG --- Comment #3 from Konstantin Kharlamov --- Okay, so, I managed to find out how KRun apparently figures that out. The "mailto:"; as well as any url like "foo:" is a part of shared-mime-info-spec specification that is called "x-scheme-handler". For "mailto:"; that would be "x-scheme-handler/mailto". This means I could try setting the type with xdg-utils. And this is where the problem turns up: $ XDG_UTILS_DEBUG_LEVEL=2 xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/mailto Running KDE trader query "x-scheme-handler/mailto" mimetype and "Application" servicetype kmailservice.desktop $ XDG_UTILS_DEBUG_LEVEL=2 xdg-mime default thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/mailto make_default_kde: No kde runtime detected make_default_generic thunderbird.desktop x-scheme-handler/mailto Updating /home/constantine/.config/mimeapps.list $ grep mail /home/constantine/.config/mimeapps.list x-scheme-handler/mailto=thunderbird.desktop $ XDG_UTILS_DEBUG_LEVEL=2 xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/mailto Running KDE trader query "x-scheme-handler/mailto" mimetype and "Application" servicetype kmailservice.desktop So apparently the bug is not in kde-open5 (which simply tries default app), nor in systemsettings5 (which same as xdg-mime is sure that it successfully changed the default client), but instead in xdg-utils which does not use the default mail client. Hence, closing this as invalid. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 420513] kde-open5 ignores default configured mail client
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420513 --- Comment #2 from Konstantin Kharlamov --- Okay, so I debugged that a bit (I made use of latest release), turns out I was right about `kde_open()`. On this line `KRun * run = new KRun( info.url, nullptr );`, the `url` is the `mailto:` string. Whole magic of finding the mail client happens inside `KRun` class. The docs for KRun are here https://api.kde.org/frameworks/kio/html/classKRun.html they say it will run the app that is bound to a protocol given, but there's nothing about how that gets determined. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417363 Tymond changed: What|Removed |Added CC||tamtamy.tym...@gmail.com --- Comment #2 from Tymond --- Created attachment 127841 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=127841&action=edit Comparison of active and inactive brush editor icon in 4.2.9 appimage on Cinnamon The reporter is asking for the indication that the brush editor cannot be used at the moment, which I agree is not clear enough. When comparing two images closely, I can see that the background of the inactive one is a shade darker than the background of the active/enabled one (and I can see that it's consistent with other buttons etc.), the problem is that this background is nearly entirely covered by the brush tip icon, so it's only maybe one pixel edge around it. The brush selection icons is more visibly different. Still: - a beginner might not know that disabled brush selection equals disabled brush editor, too - it's still not nearly as visible as the Opacity slider, for example Since my native style is not from the list of allowed ones, I believe my used style is fusion. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420492 --- Comment #5 from Keziolio --- 1) I don't clearly remember the details, but I remember the fact that I had to do a fair bunch of hacks because Qt on Linux doesn't give us precise informations on the matter, this is the reason we don't have the inertial scrolling on touchpad; if I remember correctly, unfortunately, everything goes down the same pipe: mouse discrete scrolling, mouse free scroll, touchpad scroll, etc. And yes, I opened a Qt issue, and they told me to bugger off, you can see the details on the original discussion And yes, this is quite sad and is currently the bottleneck in getting all of this working in a decent way, but I'm not sure if I have the energy to try and patch upstream Qt 2) By "you" I was meaning to the bug OP, not you David :P I'm sure you can compile Okular 3) It'be cool to have all the options in the Okular settings panel, I'm not aware on a method to disable it -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[okular] [Bug 420492] 20.04.0 significantly slows down mouse scrolling with a "hyperscroll" mouse or a touchpad driver that sends mouse wheel scroll events when configured for greater speed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420492 --- Comment #3 from David Hurka --- 1. I don’t think that the touchpad driver sends mouse wheel scroll events like a mouse wheel does. The mouse wheel is discrete, while the touchpad has pixel-wise scrolling (which I really like very much). 2. Yes, I will be able to test that. I can compile Okular, and I also have a hyperscroll mouse “somewhere”. Otherwise there is nothing about converting my recently bought (so silly, why didn’t I just take the hyperscroll mouse?) USB mouse to a hyperscroll mouse. Other-otherwise, you can simply simulate discrete scroll events with e. g. `while [[ true ]] do sleep 0.002; xdotool click 5; done` 3. By the way, I don’t like smooth scrolling, is it possible to disable QScroller globally? That would be so nice! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This is an annoyance that I run into everyday. Simply having an option to always show the tab bar, I think, would solve this. Having no tab bar for 1 connection makes sense, until you add another connection and your first connection is now the wrong size. I get around this by connecting to 1 system I don't need to connect to first. Then opening additional connections to systems I do need. Once I have at least 3 open, I close the first connection. This lets all connections after the first one be sized appropriately for having the tab bar displayed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kmail2] [Bug 412579] kmail notifications should take you to the actual email when clicked
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412579 --- Comment #32 from Parker --- "[...] that are maintained by a single developer 365 days each year." Did you realize you just agreed with what I said earlier? He works alone because the people who try to help him can't. If you want everything to be done your way, you don't have patience with those who are learning and you think you're right about everything, so there's no surprise if you work alone. This isn't just about lines of code, it's also about the person you are. Treating people who come here to make a suggestion or report a bug well is essential and necessary. KMail has a lot of bugs and a lot of things don't work, but that doesn't mean it's dead. It just needs to be more open to contributions. If that's done, other people will contribute. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[okular] [Bug 420492] 20.04.0 significantly slows down mouse scrolling with a "hyperscroll" mouse or a touchpad driver that sends mouse wheel scroll events when configured for greater speed
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420492 --- Comment #2 from Keziolio --- In the original discussion about the smooth scrolling we diverged from the Qt defaults in some settings, you are probably affected by this configuration https://invent.kde.org/kde/okular/-/blob/master/ui/pageview.cpp#L450 Unfortunately I don't have a mouse with that feature, are you able to test with that value increased from 1 to something like 5-10, at your liking? [Spectacle] [Bug 420449] add support for saving as (lossless) webp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420449 --- Comment #3 from Jos van den Oever --- After installing the Qt image plugins, spectacle can save as webp. Very nice! When I save images with webp 100% quality the files are much smaller than when saving with 99% quality. E.g. a screenshot of a browser is 366K when saving at 99% quality and 197K when saving at 100% quality. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 420513] kde-open5 ignores default configured mail client
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420513 --- Comment #1 from Konstantin Kharlamov --- FWIW I tried building it, but last two commits whose build configuration succeeds on my system are bb7e91e and da969d6, they're somewhat away from the master, and building for both of them ends up with same error: ../keditfiletype/mimetypedata.cpp: In member function ‘QStringList MimeTypeData::getAppOffers() const’: ../keditfiletype/mimetypedata.cpp:217:20: error: ‘class KService’ has no member named ‘allowAsDefault’ 217 | if ((*it)->allowAsDefault()) |^~ Oh, well. I figured that kde-open5 consists of a single cpp file "kioclient.cpp", and that likely opening of a email/url happens at `ClientApp::kde_open()`. I am not completely sure though as I didn't manage to check it out. But if anybody is interested, that looks like nice starting point. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Committed on 24/04/2020 at 18:39. Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'. Use semantically correct icon for Dolphin addon menu items Using `kgpg` as the icons is not semantically correct and results in the icons being illegible whith dark color schemes because `kgpg` is an app icon and app icons don't change their colors, but it has the appearance of a monochrome color-changing icon. [kgpg] [Bug 420457] Encrypt file icon is dark in breeze dark icon theme.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420457 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|WAITINGFORINFO |--- Component|Icons |general Assignee|visual-des...@kde.org |k...@opensource.sf-tec.de Ever confirmed|0 |1 Product|Breeze |kgpg Version|5.18.4 |git Status|NEEDSINFO |CONFIRMED --- Comment #3 from Nate Graham --- No, Plasma Vault doesn't have a Dolphin plugin that would add this menu item. I found the problem though. This menu item comes from kgpg, which tells Dolphin to use the `kgpg` icon. That icon is an app icon that does not automatically change its colors. It also looks broken-ish at small sizes. We need to do one of two options: 1. Use a more semantically appropriate icon for the menu item (e.g. `document-encrypt` 2. Make kgpg's own icon look more like an app icon, rather than a monochrome action icon (see https://hig.kde.org/style/icons/colorful/application.html) Both should probably be done, but #1 is more important for fixing this bug. Moving to `kgpg` -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 378504] [proposal] Add LCD filter settings to font config
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378504 --- Comment #7 from Filip Fila --- I lacked certain information when suggesting this. Apparently the LCDFilter is only necessary for distros (like openSUSE) that use some ClearType subpixel renderer. Distros like Arch still use FreeType's own product, which doesn't struggle with color fringing and what's more toggling the lcdfilter is actually useless. Taking that into account, distros that need it should probably turn it on themselves. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
