[kwin] [Bug 492018] New: Wrong mouse position in popup menus in Java apps using AWT/Swing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=492018 Bug ID: 492018 Summary: Wrong mouse position in popup menus in Java apps using AWT/Swing Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: git master Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: X11 Integration Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: ad.liu@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY kwin has a change in when `ConfigureNotify` is sent: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/7b486e215d44bbd9fdeb8f1180c76fb16ec6a311 The above change conforms to ICCCM, but it breaks Java apps using Swing: after maximizing the app window, in popup menus, the app considers the mouse cursor to be at a different position than it visually is, as if the app window is in the position before maximizing. We suspect this is caused by AWT special-casing `ConfigureNotify` behavior on a WM whitelist: https://github.com/openjdk/jdk/blob/88ccbb60919e4523064b0da17184eedcd9efa087/src/java.desktop/unix/classes/sun/awt/X11/XWindowPeer.java#L772 And `kwin` is not in the list. Making `kwin` disguise as `mutter` fixes the problem, which confirms the theory. Upstream bug report: https://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug?bug_id=JDK-8338752 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start KDE Plasma 6.2-dev. 2. Start the Java app `jdownloader2`, unmaximized. 3. Move the app window to the screen center. 4. Maximize the app window. 5. Right click to show the popup menu. OBSERVED RESULT Mouse is considered to be to the top-left of its actual position. EXPECTED RESULT Mouse works alright in the menu. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

That > makes it, in all practicality, purely an upstream issue, and thankfully our > upstream appears to be working to address it. Indeed. Meanwhile, do you think it would be good if we have an automatic test suite in, say KSvg, that collects all SVG icons that used to be rendered wrong, and compares the QSvg renderering results against, say, rsvg or resvg, via some image similarity metric? Maybe this should really be upstream, too. But there probably will be more regressions and KDE will be receiving bug reports, so I'd expect such tests to save some time in future bug investigation. When selecting "Breeze" then "Apply Plasma Settings" in SDDM KCM, SDDM displays the default Adwaita cursor. I think the problem is when cursor theme is set to Breeze (the KConfig default), kcminputrc won't contain the cursor theme line. But seems SDDM has a different default for this setting. [dolphin] [Bug 480211] Feature Request for Dolphin - Add the ability to unmount removable storage devices
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480211 Jin Liu changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ad.liu@gmail.com --- Comment #4 from Jin Liu --- Also note that for spinning disks, "safely remove" also spins them down. So if you change "safely remove" to only do `umount`, that would be a behavior change for spinning disks, and might be undesirable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 480298] New: Add a "turn off screen" button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480298 Bug ID: 480298 Summary: Add a "turn off screen" button Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 5.92.0 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Brightness Control Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: ad.liu@gmail.com CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: 1.0 1. It seems we failed to completely fix https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423035 for years. And I guess part of the problem is the screen turning back when the user releases the hotkey. A button should fix that. We can even make sure it does by adding a small delay before turning off the screen. 2. It seems logical to have an "off" option in an applet where you can adjust brightness. Just as the volume applet has a "mute" option. 3. The applet has plenty of space to add that. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 480112] PlasmaCore.DataSource "executable" engine arbitrary code execution via any QML file in backdoored wallpaper plugins, themes, etc. distributed via store.kde.org
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480112 --- Comment #5 from Jin Liu --- Your concern is valid. But as I said, the store also contains C++ plugins in the same category, so the suggested change in this bug report alone doesn't really help at the moment. As you already pointed out, to improve the situation, we need radical changes in a lot of areas. Definitely not something to do at the moment, only a few weeks to 6.0 release. We can discuss the plan later, after the release. And the plan doesn't necessarily include removing this particular QML function, but may well be something radical like sandboxing user contents. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 480112] PlasmaCore.DataSource "executable" engine arbitrary code execution via any QML file in backdoored wallpaper plugins, themes, etc. distributed via store.kde.org
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=480112 Jin Liu changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ad.liu@gmail.com --- Comment #3 from Jin Liu --- Does this only affect wallpaper plugins, applets, themes, window decorations, etc.? Or does it also affect wallpaper images, colors, yakuake skins, etc? The difference is that in former cases, in addition to QML, you can also upload C++ code, where anything is possible. So being able to do the same in QML doesn't change the attack surface. While in the latter cases, I do expect them to be just pictures and config files. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 392130] Plasma + Wayland: KDE IM Panel + ibus show their candidate window at wrong position
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392130 --- Comment #12 from Jin Liu --- Tested another IME `fcitx5`. Kimpanel works with it under Wayland. Trying to test `ibus`, but in Arch, the desktop file explicitly disabled panel with in the cmdline: `/usr/lib/ibus/ibus-ui-gtk3 --enable-wayland-im --exec-daemon --daemon-args "--xim --panel disable"` I modified `--panel disable` to `--panel /usr/lib/kimpanel-ibus-panel`. [plasmashell] [Bug 479827] 'Set Meta as shortcut' doesn't work in applet configure dialog
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479827 --- Comment #2 from Jin Liu --- (In reply to Marco Martin from comment #1) > the meta shortcut should open kickoff no matter what shortcut is set, but > yeah, the ui is not clear at all I see. So the actual problem is: 1. The user can set modifier-only shortcuts like 'Meta', 'Control', 'Shift', etc., in the shortcuts KCM, (e.g. I can bind kickoff to `shift`) but not in applet configure dialogs. 2. Setting 'Meta' as the shortcut in the KCM won't work, because it's overridden by either this default, or `[ModifierOnlyShortcuts]` in `kwinrc`. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
