[digikam] [Bug 391891] New: Digikam does not warn if metadata could not be written because a file is read-only

2018-03-15 Thread IWBR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391891

Bug ID: 391891
Summary: Digikam does not warn if metadata could not be written
because a file is read-only
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.9.0
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tags-Keywords
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When applying a tag to a selection of pictures in digikam, it is possible that
some files are read only, and therefore the metadata won't be written to them.
I noticed that when launching digikam from a shell.

I think Digikam should warn the user that the file could not be modified, so
you can act accordingly (give permissions, etc.).

Git commit 02445c3022c96c4cf8734034ec49c0cb9b05d1ea by Albert Astals Cid, on
behalf of Allan Sandfeld Jensen.
Committed on 15/03/2018 at 16:39.
Pushed by aacid into branch 'master'.

Fix QSqlQuery warnings

Summary:
A default constructed QSqlQuery is not a passive null-value but a
query prepared for the default database which may not be allowed
in the current thread. Instead try connecting to the akonadi default
database.

[digikam] [Bug 391440] Metadata (date) is not refreshed after a file has been modified

2018-03-15 Thread IWBR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391440

Sorry to comment on a closed bug, but I am using the last 5.9.0 version and I
still have this issue. After changing the date of a picture or group of
pictures (either using the "Edit metadata" or using the "Batch queue manager")
I need to re-read the metadata from the selected images so digikam .

In some rare cases, digikam does so automatically and refreshes the metadata by
itself, but it's maybe the 10% of the time.

Editing tags, however, does not have this problem, the tags always appear
immediately after saving them.

[kmymoney] [Bug 391786] kmymoney git 5.0 crashes on exit, even if no file loaded

2018-03-15 Thread Jack
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391786

I compiled on a different PC, and did not get the crash. I compiled using a
modified Gentoo ebuild for git 5.0 head and did not get the crash. Compiling
myself from git 5.0 I DO get the crash (either DEBUG or RELEASE build).

from CMakeCache.txt:
CMakeCache.txt:CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS:STRING=
CMakeCache.txt:CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_DEBUG:STRING=-g
CMakeCache.txt:CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_MINSIZEREL:STRING=-Os -DNDEBUG
CMakeCache.txt:CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_RELEASE:STRING=-O3 -DNDEBUG
CMakeCache.txt:CMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_RELWITHDEBINFO:STRING=-O2 -g -DNDEBUG

from the emerge information:
Compiler flags:
C++ -O2 -pipe -std=c++0x -fno-operator-names -Wall -Wextra
-Wcast-align -Wchar-subscripts -Wformat-security -Wno-long-long -Wpointer-arith
-Wundef -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wove
rloaded-virtual -Werror=return-type -Wvla -Wdate-time -fexceptions -fno-common
-Wextra -Wlogical-op

I'm going to try a RelWithDebInfo build to see if the -O2 avoids the crash,
othewise I don't see the issue, although it does seem it is an environment or
configuration issue. (In the other but, I notice mention of Wayland, but I
don't know if that is likely to be relevant or not.)

-- Description:
- I was working with two activities on two monitors and RAM almost full . After
I closed a Yast2 application while it was still performing an action
(calculating differences on Snapper) the plasmashell crashed. The screen went
completely black with no panels and wallpapers and no right click on desktop

2018-03-15 Thread David Edmundson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360478

>Hopefully Wayland allows us what the AmigaOS had in 1985: The ability to
>create multiple "screens" for the same monitor, with different resolutions, so
>that games can use any resolution they want without affecting the desktop.

It will and should already for wayland fullscreen clients.

When they go true-fullscreen we render them directly, and that means there's no
need to change the resolution of what we draw or the wl_output. If that doesn't
change, plasma won't do anything.

>Reposition the widgets as you do currently, but store their geometries per
>resolution

Panels do that for their size. It gets /far/ more recurrent bug reports than
this issue ever has. Imagine some virtualbox user resizes a window and all
their stuff resets. It's all fixable, but before you know it you're at a full
differential synchronisation algorithm...

I think way to see permissions in windows is using the command icacls.

Anyway, I corrected the permissions in the debian server as soon as I saw the
read-only error in digikam's console, so I cannot show you exactly how it's
seen from windows. But at least it seems that digikam is aware that the file
could not be written, so I guess a warning could be shown in the user

Thanks for you idea! I think you have a point in the sense that the permanent
overlays can interfere with the image.

> placement window that shows the image portion shown when the user has zoomed

That's not quite true for non-fullscreen: The "bird's eye view" also hides
after a timeout. Also, the issue with the buttons would continue to exist in
non-fullscreen, wouldn't it?

How about making this a hover button like in Browse mode? This would solve it
consistently both for fullscreen and non-fullscreen, and you would only ever
see a single button at a time on the screen. The
"hide-everything-on-mouse-timeout" behaviour feels a bit weird to me. It's fine
for single elements, but not so great for the whole UI.

Short testing shows that at the bottom of the screen in fullscreen there is a
narrow zone where clicking does not activate any of the images, so perhaps this
way you could even hide all hover controls (in case they are implemented) at
the same time.

I'd consider the hover button idea worth a try at least, but not sure when
we'll get around to it.

Note : in 6.0.0, since i introduced the ffmpeg metadata parser for video files,

Hello, i have a problem with the newest version of krusader (the one with the
pinned tabs feature implemented). I compiled from sources and installed the
latest version, as I said in the comments on the request topic
(krusader-devel), on my Ubuntu 16.04 system. The problem is, despide the
feature is working fine, I have a bug which duplicates the menu bar, one under
another. I've attached some screenshots to show it.

[gwenview] [Bug 391895] New: Autohide controls when in fullscreen

2018-03-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391895

Bug ID: 391895
Summary: Autohide controls when in fullscreen
   Product: gwenview
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Mint (Debian based)
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: e.sukun...@yandex.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 111422
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=111422=edit
Shows the autohide in fullscreen.

When looking at two or more images in fullscreen mode, the controls (trashcan
icon and "Deselect" text )should autohide and become visible only upon the user
moving the mouse or doing something other similar action.

Not only would it be more aesthetically pleasing (minimalism), but it can
affect also actual work related to comparing images visually against each
other. When comparing two images on a small screen (for example on a laptop
screen), the controls can get on the way of seeing the relevant parts of the
images compared to each other.

Autohide in fullscreen is already implemented in Gwenview for the small
placement window that shows the image portion shown when the user has zoomed in
a very large image. Methinks the behaviour ought to be consistently implemented
for all controls when in fullscreen. Attachment image depicts this phenomena.
The bug affects versions from at least 15.12.3 onwards up to the versions
automatically installed in todays (March 2018) KDE distributions like Manjaro
KDE, as can be seen by testing live-dvds etc.

Ps. big thanks to all Gwenview/KDE coders, your work is much appreciated.
Gwenview is easily the best casual image viewer available for Linux system.

But if I chose This Screen, made a crop, then switched to a portrait image, I
would NOT want it to automatically transpose the crop.

I think it's a case of some users would want it, some wouldn't. IMO we should
leave it as is for now, and revisit after implementing 'save last used ratio'.

Bug ID: 391898
Summary: persistance of closed preview window on hovering

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ghavami...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

on pressing the x in the top right corner, to close a solitary preview window,
whether it's in the maximised or minimised state, on hovering over the icon,
the window will not close on clicking until the cursor moves away from the
preview box; in contrast if there were multiple instances of the program open,
all preview windows will close on clicking the x button immediately, until you
reach the final solitary preview window and it behaves as described above, this
happens whether the windows are maximised or minimised and seems to be latte
specific as it's not replicated on doing the same with kde native panel. I'm
not sure if this is by design or not as it does no major harm but seems to have
no purpose and is inconsistant as described...

Hello, i have a problem with the newest version of krusader (the one with the
pinned tabs feature implemented). I compiled from sources and installed the
latest version, as I said in the comments on the request topic
(krusader-devel), on my Ubuntu 16.04 system. The problem is, despide the
feature is working fine, I have a bug that I haven't in the older version of
krusader i was using: some icons are missing (I have changed the icons pack
used by krusader via Icons - KDE Control Module ("kcmshell4 icons" command from
terminal - I usedf Ubuntu-Mono-Light icons) and the folder icons are not the
right ones. I have attached a picture to see it (the text was replaced by an
icon from that icon pack in the older version I was using). Alse, if I want to
change the icon set, for example back to Breeze set, the icons won't change. It
looks like right after installation the program was using the saved files from
the older version.

Sorry, I have my limits too. I said I don't have time because building git
commits is the only method I was aware of, and that takes me 40 minutes each
time (for clean build).

I didn't know appimages of git master exist, you should have just said so.

With krita-4.0.0-beta1-b322ae6-x86_64 the issue is not present.

Freeze is proportional to the size of document. With 3000 x 3000 8bit sRGB
single layer it's 2 seconds, with 5000 x 5000 nit's 3-4. With my work file
about 4000 x 7000 16 bit and several layers it's in a range of 5-8 sec.

Swap position and size in crop tool

Summary:
When one wants to re-use crop settings in gwenview (i.e. position and size),
they have to be entered in the following order :
1/ Size
2/ Position

(it is not possible to do it the other way, as position is locked until the
size of the crop area is smaller than the size of the image).

However, the settings are displayed in the reverse order, which is not
convenient (un-necessary mouse actions).

[konsole] [Bug 378124] Character width for HIGH VOLTAGE SIGN possibly wrong

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=378124

m...@arccos-1.net changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||m...@arccos-1.net

(In reply to Kurt Hindenburg from comment #2)
> I'm open to suggestions to avoid all these width issues.

First thing Konsole needs is to change internal character representation from
UTF16 to UTF32. This will allow to properly handle code points above 0x
(right now, they are all assumed to be wide and non-combining). QChar::is*()
and wcwidth(), even the one implemented in Konsole, already support UTF32
characters. Nice thing is that Character class won't change size - it uses 13
bytes aligned to 16, so after change it will be 15 bytes aligned to 16.

I think glibc's wcwidth() would be nice as a source of character widths:
- Unicode 10 since 2.26 (released on february 2017, available in e.g. Kubuntu
17.10).
- Most terminal applications probably use it, so widths would match.
- Less code to maintain.

Possible disadvantages:
- Qt's QChar::is*() can use another Unicode version, potentially slightly
incompatible with glibc's one. Solution: use iswctype() instead.
- Unicode 8 (or older) on systems with older glibc.
- Lack of customization, like selecting Unicode version (e.g. when connecting
to remote systems with older glibc), or changing width of ambiguous characters,
but there is no such feature right now.

I've already modified Konsole to use UTF32 and glibc's wcwidth(), I just have
to clean it up a bit before creating review request.

this is happening also with plasma taskmanager when you click the last preview.
The reason is that after clicking the last preview the mouse is outside the
previews window and that triggers a closing. same thing happens with Latte
also...

Indeed I overlooked this problem. I have a very simple patch, that solves this

I'm currently waiting for the review of some changes I made to write a sensible

but we can also set the following in ~/.config/kwinrc:

[TabBoxAlternative]
LayoutName=present_windows

A quick glance at the lnf kcm code shows we cannot do this.

*
https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/master/kcms/lookandfeel/kcm.cpp#L340
*
https://github.com/KDE/plasma-desktop/blob/master/kcms/lookandfeel/kcm.cpp#L663

The kcm code seems simple enough to modify myself, so I can probably toss a
copy/paste diff up on phab when I get the chance. Just want to confirm which
"group" the "key" in the lnf's defaults file should use.

[kwinrc][WindowSwitcher]
LayoutName=thumbnail_grid
AlternativeLayoutName=present_windows

OR:

[kwinrc][WindowSwitcher]
LayoutName=thumbnail_grid

[kwinrc][WindowSwitcherAlternative]
LayoutName=present_windows

[dolphin] [Bug 391290] Dolphin double mounts the partition and writes a warning

2018-03-15 Thread lega99
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391290

In Neon linux LTS and Neon user edition I have udisks2 2.1.7-1ubuntu1. The
problem is a bit more complex and I decided to switch off partition mounting in
the system setup. In the fstab file I only mount the ntfs partition via the
uuid number. With these settings Dolphin works ok mounting the linux partition
even though I turned it off in system setup. It is interesting that the Nemo
file manager has no problems, I tried in Neon Linux. In Calculate the linux
variants of Gentoo I have no udisks2, there is a same bug and it has the same
problem. Manjaro has the same problem and everything started with the new
plasma 5.12.x. The only version that works ok is in the system setup to turned
off mount partitions and mount in fstab ntfs partition.
