Heiko/Xisco: before talking about translation, there's first an UI question.

6.3. release will have its life cycle for quite a while and leaving users with
this bug is not humane )))

I believe we should fix gtk3 issues first before dropping gtk2.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127259] EDITING: Pasting into Writer produces extraneous hashtags, and is overwritten by the last thing copied within Writer itself

2019-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127259

This is a very complicated set of steps requiring at least 2 other software
applications in order to try and confirm, and involving installing those
applications under conditions in which the testers may not feel entirely happy
doing so (particularly if they are not open source programs), so it seems
unlikely that this report will ever be confirmed.

That isn't to say that it won't be, but the reality of the situation is that
there are relatively few testers on macOS, and most of them are probably loathe
to install proprietary software they don't need.

That aside, and FWIW, there is currently ongoing development to try and improve
the copy/paste mechanisms within LO, so hopefully one of those code changes
might bring a positive change to your problem in the near-ish future.
Additionally, the copy/paste mechanism is inevitably dependent on how the OS
handles such data.

I wonder if that was also the reason that I could not *disable* the JRE on that
Profile / LO version (it kept coming back on). I have to admit that I find the
JRE setting very confusing as a non LO expert, but that is a different issue.
All I know is that I try to avoid Java :)

however, the problem you are experiencing is probably due to having a
registered database in your user profile. There was bug 119419, now fixed, that
read all of the registered databases from the user profile and then attempted
to connect to each one in turn when the user tried inserting a field into a
document via the Insert Fields menu. If you had deactivated the use of the JRE,
then almost certainly any attempt to attempt to load a connection to a
previously registered database from the user profile would have caused a crash.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127328] New: UI: Make German strings in list of embedded databases consistent

2019-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127328

Bug ID: 127328
Summary: UI: Make German strings in list of embedded databases
consistent
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Localization
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: thomas.le...@gmail.com

The German strings in the list of embedded databases in the first page of the
Datase Wizard differ:

English version:
* HSQLDB Embedded
* Firebird Embedded

German version:
* Firebord (eingebettet)
* Eingebettete HSQLDB

Differences:
- Different wording ('embedded' as prefix and suffix)
- Different sorting than in English version

Another question:
As the string before the drop down list already is named 'Embedded database',
why is 'embedded' duplicated in the list entries?

If you combine answer 1 and 4 (new option in general and Writer options) then
you have an absolute majority of over 50% for a new option. So, everybody can
read out from a statistic/survey what he wants.

My proposal in comment 12 would not change the sum of options, so this wouldn't
clutter the UI (new options setting instead of style sidebar checkbox).

doing Base QA, it may take a while to confirm.

No repro with embedded hsqldb 1.8 in an ODB file, using :

Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: e04b6f3c0cdacf2a3cdcd3f34bad54c8764ff1ed
CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.14.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx;

so I'm guessing that this is specific to the use of the 2.5.0 version of the
external hsqldb engine (split database).

Default toolbars in Calc's page preview (LibO 6.4)

In Calc's page preview toolbar, the First Page icon looks different than the
last page icon. This is true for Elementary and Breeze icon set.

Actual result:
First page icon is a house, last page icon is an arrow to the right with a
vertical line.

Expected result:
First page icon should look similar to last page icon because they are highly
related.

Unfortunately, for me, using a hsqldb split database on macOS is in my

Dear Guillermo Mario Narvaja,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127324] New: Search-Function: Make comments searchable by default, if shown.

2019-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127324

Bug ID: 127324
Summary: Search-Function: Make comments searchable by default,
if shown.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: notebook22...@gmail.com

Enhancement request regarding how the search function (Ctrl+F) behaves
regarding comments.

Current Situation:

- There is *no* "search in comments" option available inside the search menu
bar, that opens with Ctrl+F

- There is a "search in comments" option inside the "search & replace dialog".
Problem: It's too far from the Ctrl+F search bar.

- If a search is conducted including comments is entirely dependent on the
setting made inside the "search & replace" dialog.
Problem 1: If comments are shown and the option is set to "No", comments will
not be searched. This might be unexpected to the user.
Problem 2: If comments are not shown and the option is set to "Yes", comments
will be searched. However, as comments are not shown on screen the software
seems to jump randomly within the document. This might be unexpected and
confusing for the user.

related information:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125974#c7

Enhancement Suggestion:

1) Comments are always searched, if they are shown.
2.a) Comments are not searched, if they are not shown.
  OR
2.b)Think of a solution on how to inform the user, that the search result is
actually hidden at the moment.
3) If (1) and (2.a) are implemented: make "search in comments" option only
apply to the search & replace function.

I can confirm that the problem, which I also had, does not continue in 6.3.1,
at least in files I have created since Jan 1 of this year. When I open older
files in 6.3.1, the problem still exists, making me wonder if the problem
wasn't somehow embedded in the files themselves.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75923] EDITING: Spelling and Grammar: English - "Always Correct" button is undocumented and nonfunctional

2019-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75923

"Add to AutoCorrect" is clearer and more accurate than "Always Correct."
(Pressing that button doesn't "always correct" the misspelling when AutoCorrect
is turned off or when you're spellchecking a document that's already been
typed. It just adds the correction pair to the AutoCorrect table.) I've been
using word processors since WordStar for DOS and it took me an *unreasonably*
long time to figure out what the "Always Correct" button was actually doing.
If display space is a serious issue, "AutoCorrect" would be okay in a pinch,
but "Add to AutoCorrect" is more explicit and won't leave anyone scratching
their head.

I appreciate your work on this, Heiko, and I'm sure other users who haven't yet
figured out what "Always Correct" actually does will appreciate it even more!

PS: I was actually the Peter CM who filed this bug, and I misspoke in my
initial post when I said I was using OpenOffice. It was definitely LibreOffice,
since I haven't used OpenOffice since 2008. I tried to correct my mistake, but
I seem to recall LibreOffice's bug reporting moved from FreeDesktop.org to
DocumentFoundation.org at around that time. I got locked out of my old account
and couldn't create a new one using the same email address. By the time I
figured out a workaround for creating a new account, I had forgotten the need
to follow up on my OpenOffice misstatement. I apologize for any confusion and
wasted time that might have caused.

You could insert a gallery item as background for a page or a paragraph (I once
even saw "image" as a choice, but I could not make it work) by selecting an
image in the gallery, then right-clicking and choosing "Insert as background"
and then "page" or "Paragraph". This still works in 6.0.7.3.
In 6.1.3.2, 6.2.4.2 and 6.3.0.1 this does no longer work. Instead of the image
there is only a blue rectangle inserted if "Page" is selected, and nothing
visible if "Paragraph" is selected. The only difference in these cases is that
the blue rectangle covers the entire page and not only the printable region in
6.3.0.1, which is not surprising, as this was changed for release 6.3.

just installed 4.0.6 - much faster, it's such a pity that rows/columns freeze
feature is not available.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127318] New: My text is shifting around in undesired ways.

2019-09-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127318

Bug ID: 127318
Summary: My text is shifting around in undesired ways.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.6.3 release
  Hardware: Other
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rpgcrafts...@protonmail.com

Description:
Sometimes my text goes all wonky; for example, I just found a page where
there's no text in the left column, at all. This mostly happens with a longer
document that has a two-column setup and images, and especially when there's a
page break.

Link to an example of the bug in the doc:
https://ask.libreoffice.org/upfiles/15675415108757155.odt

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a section with two (maybe more? Haven't tested) columns.
2. Write text.
3. Create a page break.
4. Keep writing text.
5. Save and come back.

Actual Results:
The text after the page break does not appear in the leftmost of the two
columns, at all.

Expected Results:
The text should appear from left to right in the leftmost column.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
It is possible to temporarily fix the problem by removing the page break.

NOTE: I tested whether the bug functioned with OpenGL off, but it still bugged.
I've also tested with OpenGL off AND in Safe Mode, and it remains.

NOTE: Graphics card is an AMD 15DD, and I didn't see it specifically in
"Hardware," so I chose "Other" as a precaution.

I partly agree on that, but I believe it might be kind of distracting to see
tips that are somewhat far from how one intends to use the software when they
need it. At least, that's true for me and this is of course my very personal
opinion. Then, if one has time and is curious about knowing more about the
goodies LibreOffice has to offer, it's definitely worth to provide the
opportunity to do so, but might there be a better place for that, perhaps?

Texts of the tips of the day, introduced in 6.3 and shown in a dialog after the
application startup in a day, cannot be selected by mouse and copied to
clipboard. This is not too handy because user needs to remember or rewrite the
tip to investigate and reproduce it.
