Dear Roman Kuznetsov,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Created attachment 164577

left 7.1 right proposal

my proposal for the style, character and paragraph properties sidebar see
attachment 1.

Style
=
add an row with the paragraph and character style icons. Reason is to focus
user to use styles.
There is also an Menubar item for this styles so they should be also available
in the sidebar.

Character
=
Move +/- font size icons to first line will have more consistancy with the
style layout.
Font name + Font size = Paragraph style width
Clone and Clear direct formating will be a separate group in 3rd row.

Paragraph
=
add 4 items from the list toolbar to have them commands available in the
sidebar too.
There is no reason why background color should use another layout than font and
highlight color.

Benefit
===
1. better alignment
2. context related list toolbar isn't needed

Open attached file. Activate the chart and drag the data label "Tom" to a
position similar to that in the attached screenshot. Save the file and reload
it. Notice the data label has its default position. The custom position is not
saved.

This is a problem with pie chart. The same works for a column chart.

For avoidance of doubt: I don't care about bug numbers here or closed bugs
numbers.

What I *do* care about is principles and what belongs to the admin and what
not.

If the admin decides to install something talk to your admin. Or do
administrative tasks yourself. And remove the package. (If your distro packages
are not fine-grained enough, one could talk to them.)

But don't try to bypass your admins' decisions by wanting to disable extensions
the admin installs system-wide, be it shared or bundled or in a package for
whatever reason.

Format > Lists > Bullets will toggle a text box's paragraphs on and off (and
for numbering) when outside of the text box

These comments are therefore no longer true:

since the toolbar is activated only in edit mode
there is no alternative workflow via main menu

User can be done editing, and as long as the text box is selected, can toggle
numbers and bullets from the Format menu as well as from the Properties
sidebar.

You can toggle lists and numbers off and on, but promoting and demoting still
require the desired content to be selected while editing the contents of a text
box (which makes total sense sense).

admin is just a simple user (in this case it's me) who know root password and
can use LO as other users without launching it with root privilege. root is
just a role that an admin can acquire by specifying root password.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136020] New: Crash when try to move data label in a chart with arrow key

2020-08-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136020

Bug ID: 136020
Summary: Crash when try to move data label in a chart with
arrow key
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Chart
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 164571
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=164571=edit
File to reproduce crash

Open attached file. It has a chart with two data labels. Activate the chart.
Activate the data label "Tom" so that it has move handles. Use key "arrow left"
to move it => Crash.

I have used Version: 7.0.0.2 (x64)
Build ID: c01aa64b6c3d89ebe5fe69c28c7adb24eb85249c
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18362; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

To be able to move objects with arrow keys is necessary for accessibility. So
disabling arrow key to solve the crash is no solution.

No, you don't understand what I wrote and security.

I explicitely wrote

One could imagine some new feature which makes "don't activate this extension
while installed", but that would be questionable imho.
--- snip ---

But then

--- snip ---
And in some cases the admin might want to force something on anyone (and be it
config changes which also could be done via extensions). Bypassing what the
admin wants is bad.

remains. If a user can deactivate extensions deploying configuration by the
admin this is VERY bad. Be it Macro Security settings or whatever else
company-wide configuration.

> Btw why are you are so eager to close this report ?

Exactly because of the above and you don't get the distinction between admin
and users which is a *fundamental concept*. Users don't get to mess with
system-wide installed stuff. Period.

We are not in Windows here.

So 2 users.

... as shown here. The admin himself has no LO use, no one should run LO as
root. So what the admin does always affects users, not only him for LO.

One always can install an extension locally for users (--shared wouldn't
probably work either since uninstalling also would require root).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91811] Editing char attributes in text boxes should handle Undo better

2020-08-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91811

mwtjunkm...@gmail.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||mwtjunkm...@gmail.com
 Status|NEW |RESOLVED
 Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME

Behavior has changed slightly since origination of this bug.

Using:

Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 8700bace8c0714d853f5df6918ab9c8bb3d81f77
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 20197; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

If you follow the original steps:

=
If you create a text box with "A"
Then you edit it, type "B C"
Select B, make background light purple
Select C, make background dark watermelon (the colors have no importance)
Click outside the text box
Type Ctrl-Z

I would expect a step by step Undo

Currently, text box becomes "A" with no bg color.
=

Undo does track the change to each character within the text box during any
single session of editing the text box's contents before clicking outside of
it.

However, if the user completes all the above edits and THEN clicks outside of
the text box and hits Control-Z (or Edit, Undo), the text box disappears
entirely (because Undo: Insert was the last edit tracked) or reverts to
whatever was last typed in the text box prior to the last set of edits.

Therefore, there IS a step-by-step undo, but it's at the current object's
level. While within the text box object, edits track changes within the object
as one would expect (reversing the colorization one Undo at a time of A, B, and
C).

Clicking outside of the text box tracks changes at the level above that,
meaning the entire container (Insert: Text Box) versus its contents.

So this works for me, based on my understanding of how Undo works.

Step-by-step undo DOES WORK if you click outside of the text box per editing
instance (change "A", click outside, change "B", click outside, etc).

I was confused myself.. I do notice the file opens differently in 4.4.7.2 and
6.4 compared to 7.1

4 empty table cells on first page; and paragraph starting on the second.

So or 7.0/7.1 is proper and it was broken before or 7.0/7.1 is broken..

I think you don't differentiate between disable and remove ? or you don't
understand what I wrote ?
Btw why are you are so eager to close this report ?

I will explain to you the situation, suppose you have a Linux machine with 3
users (one admin and two normal users), if admin want to disable some
extensions installed by package manager, should he remove them totally ? No !
this will remove the extension also for other users !
What the admin want is to disable temporary some extensions for only himself
and other users should still have access to extensions.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136010] Cannot disable extensions installed by package manager

Uninstalling the extension is not the solution, because for a machine with
multiple users, if instead of deactivating the extension for current user you
remove it via package manager then it will be removed for all other users
because it's shared between them.

This is really a bug because LibreOffice extension manager should handle
deactivation/activation of any kind of installed extension even if they are
installed via package manager.
The package manager is only responsible for installing and uninstalling
process.

Many people like to disable some extensions temporary and enable them only when
needed, especially for extensions with big size like LanguageTool with more
200MB.

There is an issue with DOC export. So saving a formula to doc will produce low

to DOCX

It's always bit hard to track. Bug 136000 (is marked as duplicate of bug
132892). There were multiple side effects of the same commit. The commit in
question is reverted. All other bugs are marked as duplicate (even to the
appearing problems where different; root cause the same). I would have be nicer
to have 'fixed with' duplicate, instead of duplicate. As duplicates might
suggest the exact the same problem (which isn't the case here, but does happen
too).

Thanks for the pointer. I have done some testing and indeed it seems to be the
upgrade of the old profile, in particular related to the configuration of the
notebook bar.

I have been able to create a pretty small PoC. This includes some high level
settings to enable the notebook bar and a configuration for, I think, a single
bar with the left margin and right margin settings. These two together cause a
crash, removing either of them does not. There were more places in my original
configuration that caused crashes but since editing large amounts of XML isn't
super fast I've brought it down to one case. If this one is actually solved I
have a backup of the entire configuration to see if there are more crashes.

The PoC is just the user part of the profile and has been tested as-is (i.e.
without any other files in the user/ folder). I have verified that it causes
the exact same crash as in the crash report. I have also verified it on my
desktop, where the PoC also causes a crash.

Moving ahead I will reset my profile on my tablet so I can work, but I will
keep backups for future testing.
