Sending servers TO the US
Hello, This will sound dumb to most of you but I'm not in Israel so my situation might be different. Does anyone here has experience sending servers (e.g. Dell PowerEdge 860 rack-mounted) TO the US? We have an opportunity to buy a few second-hands on a bankruptcy fire-sale and wonder how much would it cost (tax-wise) to just pack them with me when I visit there later this month. The sale closes tomorrow. Thanks, --Amos ___ Linux-il mailing list Linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il

When we arrived I approached the first customs officer and told him about it. He asked whether he could worship the Sun (did a couple of actual bows - jokes by a customs officer were so outside of my field of experience that I totally failed to get the joke), and then waved us through, and that was it. Re: Sending servers TO the US
Hi Amos, Sending servers to the US costs nothing - tax wise - especially hardware servers, as far as I know, we have been sending servers for years, there is no tax on them. PowerEdge 860 are as far as I know, EndOfLife, so be a bit cautious of them On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:06 PM, Amos Shapiraamos.shap...@gmail.com wrote: Hello, This will sound dumb to most of you but I'm not in Israel so my situation might be different. Re: Sending servers TO the US
Well my apologies, but the subject said differently :) In any case, taking it with you is problematic, I have done this with LCD screens (used ones) which I took to a convention, and I had to pay penalty at the custom office as it is above the allowed price of items a visitor can bring, I paid 75$ - not sure whether it was even price related It could be that it was because it was an LCD screen... Not sure... good luck :D On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:59 PM, Shachar Shemeshshac...@shemesh.biz wrote: Noam Rathaus wrote: Shachar, You are talking about taking a server with you when you fly to the US He is refering to shipping it with a courier like UPS and FedEx Read his email again. Re: Flash based games not working
I used to have a strange problem with my bank where it'll accept my id and password then give the usual first login page then it'll tell me that the server is loaded and I should try again later. This happened after years of usage without problems. Logging in from other computers or linux users on same desktop worked well. I tried clearing all privacy info, including flash cookies to no avail. I finally wiped my profile (saving what I could) and now can login again. Try creating a new firefox profile or login from a different linux user.
