Re: Status of the patches under review at LMML (60 patches)
Hi Mauro, Sorry for the late reply about Mar, 1 2010: firedtv: add parameter to fake ca_system_ids in CA_INFO http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/82912 The reason why I wanted to make this fix in the kernel driver and not in MythTV was that the problem was hardware related and not MythTV related. I.e. I wanted to compensate in the kernel driver and not in the specific application for the shortcoming of this one hardware. MythTV uses the CI as allowed by the specification, but due to the shortcomings in the card's firmware, the driver is unable to answer one of the CI messages correctly. The current implementation tries to guess an answer (which is often the correct one) using the manufacturer ID as the CA_system_id, but since that is not always true, sometimes the driver will simply lie in its answer. I can understand your reluctance to the patch since it adds a parameter that requires quite some low level knowledge to use. However, I still see that this should be corrected in the kernel driver of the faulty hardware and not in a specific application. Regards, Henrik This is the summary of the patches that are currently under review at Linux Media Mailing List linux-media@vger.kernel.org. The current fix, for NTSC with BTSC audio, is at least the first two of the three patches here: http://linuxtv.org/hg/~awalls/cx18-audio2/ Mark reported the 3rd patch broke things. Anyone with access to a bona-fide BTSC stereo broadcast signal (which a STB will not produce) feel free to test. On a general note for all CX2584x and CX23418 audio standard auto-detection problems: without the problem analog signals and detailed specifications on the Merlin audio decoder core, I am not in a good position to fix these audio standard detection problems with these devices. Re: Status of the patches under review at LMML (60 patches)
I know that a couple of users(including) tested the patch to be working. Many users(from forum) is still looking for tda18218 support or have been using a very old hg changeset using another patch also written by Nikola. I have been using that old change set for many months and its working well for me.
