Re: [pfSense] Dynamic Bandwidth Limiting with pfSense
Hi, Thanks, I have been searching for this for years. Kindly describe if I have different total download and upload bandwidth. Regards, Nabeel From: bigracc...@gmx.net To: list@lists.pfsense.org Date: Sat, 27 Jul 2013 15:20:16 +0200 Subject: Re: [pfSense] Dynamic Bandwidth Limiting with pfSense I spoke/asked to soon :) Currently I am testing what you suggested Ermal it seems to do the trick. Odhiambo here is what you need to do: Firewall-Traffic Shaper-Limiter: Create a new limiter - Enabled - Name: TotalIN - Bandwidth: (Enter your total line download limit, for example 5Mbit/s) - Mask: none Save Apply Click on the new created Limit and then click on Add New Queue - Enabled - Name: PerUserIN - Mask: Source addresses Save Apply Do all the above again for the OUT Limit: Create a new limiter - Enabled - Name: TotalOUT - Bandwidth: (Enter your total line upload limit, for example 1Mbit/s) - Mask: none Save Apply Click on the new created Limit and then click on Add New Queue - Enabled - Name: PerUserOUT - Mask: Destination addresses Save Apply After that, go to the rule you use to allow traffic to the internet and edit the rule. Go to advanced- In/Out and set the first to PerUserIN and the second to PerUserOUT Save Apply That is what Ermal suggests and what I am currently testing out. If I made any mistake in this how-to please let me know! Re: [pfSense] Dynamic Bandwidth Limiting with pfSense
Hi, Thanks once again, I have created it successfully and it is working for me now. I have 2Mbps download and 512Mbps upload. In my case I have to put on TotalOut 2048Kbps and at TotalIn 512Kbps because I have applied it on Firewall-Rules-LAN. Is it the very first rule? Could you please explain to me how you did it? Have you tested it/monitored and seen that it is actually portioning the bandwidth accordingly to the number of clients/hosts connected?
