Re: [MBZ] gift guide

2016-11-21 Thread clay via Mercedes
Those things are the BOMB!

I had the beads and sheep pelt on my BMW bike. It really made long days in
the saddle survivable. No more dead butt when you got off the bike at the end
of the day, let alone at a gas stop. It allowed the pressure points to change
as you adjusted instead of having a static plank. A corbin saddle would have
been nice, but for the cash, the beads did the job

Got back to the ranch and started in. Got the bottom door trim, trunk badges,
cowl panels, antenna grommet, door handles and windshield washer jets all

More tomorrow.

$0.50 acrylic craft paint from WallyWorld. Hundreds of shades and cheap.
Small brush, let it flow into the grooves, use a damp paper towel to carefully
wipe the paint off the top.

Make a mistake? Wipe it off, do it again. If there’s a little overflow, let
it dry and scrape it off with your fingernail.

You’re an extraordinary ignoramus?

(Sorry, you walked into that one!)

I’m not dealing with a concours car here. Something I want to look as nice as
the day it rolled off the boat. The options are such that I could buy a new
one, which would be stupid expensive, or just touch mine up so it looks nice.

This is a run of the mill, standard as they come, basic driver quality 300D. I
am not trying to make it concours level or to even come close. Not sure that
what I’m doing breaks any conventions or is so abhorrent that people couldn’t
imagine doing something like this.

I think I gave mine to the goodwill during our last move (Commadore with

I traded a Mamiya C330 120 camera system for a Seagate 20MB hard drive for

Since I’m working from home today, there’s not a lot I can do until work is
over.

That being said, I did find about 10 minutes during a break to paint the accent
lines on the trunk badges. A little flat black on the trim and it’s as new!
The radiator badge will be next.

have family and friends who seriously are grieving over it all and are
emotionally disrupted in thinking about it because sH->e didn't win (or
won't get the electoral vote, sH->e apparently is ahead in straight

It really hurts me to see that, I don't really get it and wish I could
somehow make it all go away and get them all back to the people I knew a
month or two ago, even with the differences we had. It is impossible to
talk to them about it, I would have to be in mourning too to have a

so I didn't really have much enthusiasm for it all, but I am cast as
"winner" (and racistbigothomophobexenophobemisogynist) too since I did
not like H->er, and that puts me as an enemy or something. It hurts.

I know 8 years ago there were a lot of people who were upset about the
election outcome, and there was a fair amount of trash talk and such,
but this time around it is way way more. I don't recall nearly as much
animosity and downright hatred as I am seeing here, even though there
were some fairly settled opinions on the matter and some ongoing strong
feelings and opposition. And the hatred is coming from people who just
want us all to love one another and get along and such, except if we are
on different "sides." Perplexing.

I hope it all dies down in a few weeks, and life gets back to whatever
passes for normal these days. I doubt if it will, but I hope so, and I
honestly hope the new guy sorta gets down to business such that it will
be good for everyone, whatever their orientations, and the election
trash talk subsides. I was actually, for maybe the first time, quite
pleased with BHO's pronouncements on the matter, it showed a fair amount
of integrity on the issue.

They sell all over the price range on ebay. So you will need to show that
the interior is great etc. To get big money. And have receipts. But you
should be able to unload that all day long for 8k in DC on craigslist.
